Would never recommend Castlewood Plumbing. I called for a simple job of installing a new water softener to replace our original one that quit working. I purchased the exact make and model from Home Depot so the connections and installation would be the same. When I called their office I was told there was a $97 fee for the technician to inspect the unit, connections, and make sure everything was up to code. Well the technician came yesterday and did none of that. He talked to my husband for five minutes then went onto another room to type in his iPad. When he came back he said the installation charge was $1,800... We were in shock. Told him no way such a charge and didn't want their services. He then tried to collect the $97 charge for the house call and unit inspection. I refused to pay that charge for him doing nothing. When I first called the company and gave them all the information for the job if they would have told me $1,800 I would never have scheduled them. Was told when I asked to speak to the owner she told me that it was against company policy to give estimates over the phone.
I don't know if this is how they normally conduct business or maybe Senior Citizens like us may just accept it and pay up.

DO NOT USE CASTLEWOOD PLUMBING. In my area a standard drain clean out is $200 to $300. I did not get a price quote ahead of time. When the plumber arrived, he said the price was $450. I just did not want to deal with it so I said OK. Then he told me I should replace the sink basket and he could do it for $500. I should have told him to get out of my house right them. A sink basket, a good one, is less than $75. I takes 5 to 10 minutes to install. That means his rate is at least $2000 an hour for that service.

I knew he was trying to rip me off. What really bothers me is that there are a lot of people that would have had no idea.

Horrible experience and would not recommend. We were charged $2500.00 for a job that was $200. Plus they ended up cutting a waterline and scratching the bathroom floors.

I chose this company because they had acquired P.S.Rapp, a company I formerly used and trusted. I was told there would be a $96 trip charge, which is higher than most repair companies, but I agreed. When the service tech gave me the estimates to replace one cartridge in the sink faucet ($499) and one in the shower ($768), I declined having the work done. I previously had the same sink work done for $180 by P.S.Rapp. I understand the cost of labor has gone up, but that is way out of line and certainly above market rates. I declined the work and was out the trip charge. I scheduled another plumbing company who only charged $303 for the work in the shower (NOT $768)! Lesson learned. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Had a hot water heater that was leaking and the other two were due. The bill was high but I expect that for quality work. Brian did an awesome job on the installation. My father is in the pipe fitters union and commented on how good the runs look.

If you want cheap, this is not the place. If you want quality work at a fair price and the peace of mind that comes with, I would recommend. My experience was good.

When I called for someone to give me a quote, I was told up front there would be a $49 charge for this. I agreed because I didn't expect the price to be so high for simple job (replace a freeze-resistant outside faucet and install an interior shut-off valve). I was told the tech (Kyle) would text me in advance of his arrival. He arrived 30 minutes early with no text. He spent (at the most) 8 minutes looking the job over. He then quoted me $640 when other quotes were for much less. Kyle told me a receipt for the $49 would be emailed to me. I had the work done by another firm for $250 (another quote I received was for $275).
I called Thome later that day and explained that I wanted my $49 refunded because their quote was way overboard. I was told they would let me know of their decision within 24 hours.
5 days later I called Thome and was told they would not refund my money and that I was being a bully for telling them I would post this review and that they (she) had just emiled me a receipt for the $49 ""professional diagnostic"".

I was quoted $300 to replace a flapper to stop ghost flushing. Plumber was nice, but no way $600 for 2 toilets, when they hadn't even started the real job. How much would that have cost? I didn't wait to find out! Bye!

Thome was great. They sent a confirmation the day before.

The day of Josh and Kyle got here early (sent a text alerting us). Checked out the issue, gave us the estimate, fixed everything (well, had one item that they could not find, but we are not even sure its an issue) and charged us what they said they would charge.

They even finished in the original arrival window!

Thanks guys!

Was too trusting of this local company who advertises in my church bulletin. Just needed a simple new faucet installation and my garbage disposal hooked back up after getting new counter tops. I supplied the new faucet. They did the job fine but was billed almost $700. I was not there and just trusted it would be a reasonable charge. When I called and questioned the amount, they agreed and said they would refund about $200. Finally got check in mail after a couple weeks and several calls asking about. They also took the old water lines, had to ask for them back, told plumber took by accident.
When I asked for an itemized bill, did not get that either, just a total cost due.
Job was done fine, that's why I gave them an extra star but just warning everyone to ask lots of questions about cost before using this company.
I will never use again or recommend

If you want to pay twice the market rate for water heater and installation then use these guys. No cost transparency with their bundled pricing.
