We've used this company for years, but their recent performance has been honestly very disappointing. Most recently, we used them to fix a refrigerant leak in our AC. They came a couple of times and finally fixed the leak. But they WAY overcharged the line with refrigerant to the point where the compressor sounded like a rocket ship about to take off. When I pointed this out to the HVAC tech, he said that it was normal, but then proceeded to release some of the refrigerant straight into the air (which I'm pretty sure is against EPA regulations and just generally a bad idea). That may have made things a little better, but the unit was still obviously overcharged and the house was not getting cold.

Finally we gave up and got another local company to come out and check. As expected, the line was overcharged by over TWO POUNDS. They easily fixed the issue but told us that with refrigerant going for $150 a lb these days, Cardwell essentially charged us $300 for coolant that made the system inefficient and could have damaged the compressor.

Anyways, like I said they were a good company but we've decided to go a different direction in the future.

Best HVAC company around. John represented Cardwell in a most professional manner. Dan headed up the best crew on the planet for an excellent installation of my new system. I never had a doubt that the installation would the best possible. I highly recommend Cardwell!

Cardwell was called to evaluate an ac failure. They recommended pressure testing and refill the freon. Price per pound of freon was marked up 500% tech convinced me that was the going price. Job was approved. I subsequently received a proposal to replace the equipment for about the same price. Had it been presented at the time of repair it would have been a no brainer to select the replacement. I wasted $3000

We have used Cardwell for many years now including our old house and now at our new house. First the good. Their staff is always very friendly and very well spoken. That's about the only good. We have been a service contract customer for many years and at first everything seemed fine. Fine not great as we had several repairs done which required us calling them out a second or third time to fix issues that were left uncorrected. At this point i would say shame on me. I should have worked harder to find another company but life is busy and finding contractors is hard and time consuming. that being said after several thousand dollars all of our problems were resolved. Then last year the annual fall or spring service visit felt a lot like a sales call and not a service call. The guy was trying really hard to get us to think about replacing the AC unit, which was not new but not crazy old either, especially considering the evap. coil had been replaced with the furnace. We opted not to pursue that with Cardwell. We sold that house and moved to a new home in August (where the AC worked fine) and got a service contract again with Cardwell. They came out for the winter service and once again the technician tried to convince us to replace the AC unit which was 4 years old! No way! This spring for the summer AC start up they tell us our unit is completely out of refrigerant and offer us options well above a thousand dollars, $95 / lb for 410 A and the same $95 / pound for Nitrogen to leak test. Just to leak check the unit not even repair it! I said no. I called out another company. Turns out the valve, front an center on the unit was stuck open and leaking. Remember the unit worked in the summer and the only person to touch the unit was a Cardwell tech. who wanted to sell me a new system to replace a 4 year old unit. I'm not sure what conclusions to draw from this but my gut says there's a shady business practice at work. I gave them 2 stars because they are easy to reach, call you back and have always been on time. That said i would never recommend them to anyone as I simply do not trust the company or their business practices. Not to mention insanely high prices.

After a recommendation, I scheduled an appoint with Cardwell HVAC. I am very pleased with their service. Sharif, the lead technician, replaced two old water heaters in my basement with one new large water heater. Maintenance was also performed on my furnaces. The flow of hot water in all 5 bathrooms and kitchen is much better...a remarkable difference. The furnaces are not constantly turning on to heat our home now. The temperature is comfortable. Customer service is friendly and professional. I highly recommend Cardwell HVAC!

They were extremely professionals and very covid cautious. Sharif wore a mask and his boot covers the entire time. He fixed the problem and was so honest with us. I felt like he really went above and beyond and wasn't just trying to sell us something. This company replaced our broken thermostat in August. This time our heating system failed (another company put the system in) and both services were top notch. I will not go with any other company aside from this one in the future. I hope you won't either.

My water heater was 18 years old and didn't want to find myself in an emergency situation. I was gathering quotes from different companies, but the guy who came out not only seemed super knowledgeable but actually genuinely cared and concerned for my safety.

I had recently purchased a house that had been renovated and there were questions as to the quality of work performed.

He quickly sited the gas line for my furnace was not up to code and ""illegal"" and gave me reasons why. I never got the impression he was trying to get me to purchase more services. He just made me aware of the situation and I had to ask him the following day if he could give me a quote to have it replaced.

The technicians who came out were very professional and did a great job of installing and cleaning up after themselves and gave me advice on maintenance.

We had an issue with our heater on a Sunday afternoon - and it wasn't long before it was starting to get cold in the house! A neighbor recommended Cardwell, so we called. They were able to come out early Monday morning, replace a couple of parts that they had on their truck, and got us back up and warm in under an hour. Prompt, courteous and efficient - what more could you want. Will call again!

Our heating system went down in the middle of the night over the weekend. I called them and they came and fixed it that day during the timeframe they advised. Bertram was professional, friendly and took time to show me the issue. Thank you.

We were experiencing an intermittent issue with our central air that was very difficult to diagnose. It took a few visits to isolate the issue, but they did get to the bottom of the problem after communicating with the manufacturer and were able to fix it. The techs were very professional and courteous.
