Company Overview

For three generations, our family-run business, Capital Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electric, offers complete HVAC, plumbing, and electrical services for residential and commercial clients, as well as a certified duct cleaning service by NADCA.

Our company was initiated in 1937 when German immigrants William Schmidtke and Helmut Klein bought Tobin Sheet Metal. Initially named Capital Sheet Metal, we operated from State Street. As time passed, our expertise in sheet metal fabrication evolved into ductwork construction, transforming us into a complete heating and air conditioning contractor.

The year 1963 marked our incorporation and our status as an authorized dealer for General Electric (now Trane) heating and air conditioning systems.

We moved to our current site at 1218 Carpenter Rd SE in Lacey in 1973.

William Schmidtke passed away in 1980, and Larry Schmidtke along with his wife Dianne took over the company.

In 2003, Larry and Dianne retired, and their three sons—William, Chuck, and Dean—took ownership in 2007. 2007 also saw the registration of the trade name ""Capital Heating & Cooling.""

Dean has grown up in the heating and air conditioning field, gaining experience in various areas such as residential and commercial sales, dealer and manufacturer support, marketing, and accounting.

Buying a fixer-upper can be expensive and frustrating, however Capital Heating & Cooling came to our rescue! Not knowing just when just when the last time the furnace had been cleaned or the ducts cleaned and sanitized, I called them and only 2 days after my move into the new house, Heimana came over to check it out! He was on time, friendly, honest and very professional. He began the cleaning process, but as it was not happening like it should, he went into the crawl space and found a giant hole in our main duct! So I asked him to order the duct, and he did and was actually back with it only 3 days later! He installed the duct and cleaned the register vents and sanitized them. Later that same day, Thomas came by to do the furnace inspection. He was also on time, friendly, honest and very professional. He suggested a couple of new parts as they were not responding as quickly as they should, which means that they may be on their way to malfunctioning. When the two little parts come in he will be back to install them. I have not even been in my new house for a full week yet! You just can't go wrong with this type of service, dependability and professionalism! Thanks Heimana and Thomas and Capital Heating & Cooling!!

Tried to get a call back for a new system installation. The technicians mail box was full, no call back and tied the office 3 times and was told "" not sure how that happened, I'll email him and have him all you right back"" Never received a call back and went elsewhere for a bid. If they don't want the new business how good would they be with repairs?

RED FLAG!!

These folks came out for a heater repair. Turns out their quote was 2 times what it really should have been. I was quoted $900 for a job that takes around 1 hour and a part that cost $250-300.

I would never ever call these people again. Scam artists and gougers. You are probably better off calling anyone else. Also, do your research before accepting an estimate. Sneakily, they won't tell you what part of the estimate is for parts and what is for labor: RED FLAG

I really appreciate the extra effort Genevieve took in getting us scheduled. Plan A didn't go very well but the follow up the next morning deserves to be recognized.

It was a rough start; It took me over two weeks to reach someone. I had heard so many good things about this company, so I persisted. Once I was was on their rotation, service was impeccable, timely and fair. Matt was available for questions through the entire process. Pricing was consistent with estimate. Staff was polite and respected all Covid-19 protocols. Looking forward to years of quality customer care. I would definitely recommend them. Thanks!!

Very rarely keep appts, nor are they very good at communicating that they are unable to keep appts. Checked the status of part order, front desk didn't ask for our information just stated ""no, we'll call to schedule when it comes in"". Then a week later I called again and they state they ""have been trying to contact us stating part has arrived"". Rearranged my day for an appointment we had from 12-4 which they never arrived for or called to reschedule. Receive a text stating they were ""clearly told"" the followings Thursday, even though I have a text confirmation of the the date and time. Now I will have rearranged another day off work where I will have to wait for another text when they tell me ""oh I thought it wasn't until next week"". This has been something I've been waiting 6 months to get fixed by them.

When we were renting we had to call Capital to come out at least a half a dozen times to look at our furnace that the homeowner refused to replace. The service guys at Capital always showed up and got the furnace working. They even tried to recommend to the homeowner that he replace the furnace. When we recently bought our first home in Washington and wanted to install central air conditioning, we immediately called Capital. We had some scheduling issues with their Electricians, but Matt made it right and provided some extra maintenance for our troubles. They really are a great bunch!

Abe came out to check on our oil furnace. He was a super hard worker, and diligently tried to solve the problem. He got our furnace working, picked up after himself, and was extremely knowledgeable and professional. Thank you for the great service, Capital Heating & Cooling.

Really great service, super happy with their professionalism, the work they completed at our home and their instructions on use of the new system.
My only issue was with their notification system in the early morning. I received a text that the crew was on their way to our home but if I clicked on the link it said ""the crew has arrived."" This was a little confusing and I had to call the company to be sure they had the right address.
But when they arrived, they were efficient, communicative, helpful, professional and very nice. Really happy with the experience.
