Doug K.The employee came to my parents home on a routine preventative maintenance and after being told that they home was going up for sale, told my parents that they needed a new system. He then pressured them with a hard sale and when told they wanted to obtain quotes he announced that he had turned off the system and left. It was below 30 degrees with an impending snow storm and these are seniors in their 80's. He did not have the compassion and empathy to ensure they had family local or the ability to remain safe and warm. Family arrived to find them with the oven on and a space heater trying to remain warm.
Wanted to charge 1K to replace the blower motor. Convinced my Wife to pay monthly for some ""peace of mind"" plan, still payed like $800. They are supposed to do free diagnostic, have a service discount, etc for the monthly crap.
Fast forward next summer. My wife complained the AC wasn't as cold as it usually was ( I disagreed ). Well, we had a ""free diagnostic"" so whatever I gave her the go ahead to give them a call when I was at work...
Next thing you know, they charged around $400 and replaced the capacitor. Yup. That's also with the ""waived diagnostic and DISCOUNT"". They played my wife, they refused to call it a capacitor. Know what they called it? 'VOLTAGE OBSORBTION RETAINING APARATUS' or something along those lines. I am NOT exaggerating. I had gone to trade school like 10 years back and never heard of such a thing. Figured maybe I forgot or some shit.
I told her to send me a picture, it was the guys hand holding a Capacitor. They charged over $100 for the Capacitor and a few hundred for ""labor"" of unplugging it and plugging the new one in after removing 2 screws off the outdoor condenser. They played my wife to change the batteries in her remote.
Now, fast forward 1 year later, again. Condenser stopped working, started making a buzzing noise. I went out, looked, they had installed the capacitor, oh I'm sorry, voltage obsorbtion device, UPSIDE DOWN. You are not supposed to do that, the capacitor failed so I went and replaced it for $15 after them charging $400 last year to put in a batter improperly.
It's also worth mentioning that they came out to do the ""yearly tune up"" for part of the monthly payment. We had put in a new expensive Allergen filter in the indoor blower not even a couple weeks prior. Without telling us, they threw it out and replaced it with a brillow pad looking POS filter. Obviously the thing was brand new, they didn't bother asking if we wanted it replaced or keep it in there. I noticed the next time I changed it and complained.
When complaining about them throwing out our expensive filter, they wouldn't reimburse us because they said ""well why didn't you check it after he worked on it"". Are you EFFING KIDDING ME? I shouldn't have to nor would any person think ""whelp I better go make sure my filter didn't get thrown out"" after the person cleans it.
We thought going with a more local place would be better than some crooks like Horizon but turns out they are just as greedy.
Stay away from these crooks who call a Capacitor a Voltage Absorption Retaining Device Apparatus and then can't even install the damn Capacitor right side up. Whoever leaves these guys good reviews obviously don't know much which is a shame.
Zero stars for this business. They refused to provide an itemized invoice. I was given their breakdown of the % that included GAS IN THE TRUCK, OFFICE UTILITIES, MARKETING and other operating expenses. They refused to provide the cost of parts and labor.
I've been waiting all day in a heat wave for someone to call me back. If I had known i wasn't going to get a call back i would have called someone else. I was trying to give local company the business.
Dee M.Campbell was recommended by friends and relatives after I had poor experiences with two other recommended companies. One was just expensive (and the water heater died 18 mo after the warrantee expired) the other replaced my whole HVAC system with a ""more efficient"" system and I never saw a reduction in bills. Come to find out that the HVAC system has a bad service record, so I'm waiting for that to go down... Anyway, Campbell came when my water heater first broke. They were great! On time, efficient, clean and informative. Offered an inexpensive solution and didn't push a new water heater. Were very informative and seemed to be interested in keeping my business, not just making a quick buck. When the water heater finally died, they came right over (early evening) and gave me all my options. Low pressure sales, which was nice since I wasn't sure which option was best for me. I decided on a tankless and they got the install done the next day and didn't charge me anything for the original call. Very clean and answered every question I had regarding maintenance, installation, and even my HVAC which they didn't even install. Very nice experience. Not sure if I got a great deal, but it felt like I did. I'll follow up as soon as I have an issue (hopefully many years from now) or decided to upgrade them to 5 stars!
John K.My AC died this summer during some of the hottest days so when i called they were out there the next day to look and see what was wrong. They were different then others i had come and look. All the others just went to replace the unit but these guys gave me options even before discussing replacing the entire unit. I did decide to replace the unit and the price they gave me was better than others. They were also friendly and easy to work with. I hope i never need them again but if i do i will be calling them.
Carol L.Think twice before using this company. They installed my heating a/c unit Aug 2006. Have had many problems over the years. Air clearer stopped working in less then 2 yrs, motor needed to be replaced within the 5-6 yrs, motherboard replaces at apx 7 yrs. About 1 1/2 ago within less then a 12 month period unit shut down 3 times. I had a service contact with the company since the unit was installed. 2 or the 3 times a tech was sent out a different reason was given why the unit shut down so both times and was charged a service call , the 3rd time I called for service because it once again stopped working and stated I would not pay for a service call I was told they would not charge me for one. Tech came out and once again another reason for the shut down. They did not charge a service fee but in order to fix the problem cost was in the hundreds. Earlier this summer the unit was icing and was told the inter cooling coil need to be replaced at a cost of $2500. As soon as it was in place the tech Brad(who hade loked the unit over for over an hour the day before) advised me we had a leak in the outside compressor. The only repair was to replace the compressor at a cost of over $2600. Asked why he did not see this leak less then 24 hrs prior when he looked the unit over he could give me a real answer. I asked can't the leak be repaired and he told me no the unit was full of oil and coolant and it would catch on fire if any heat was used on it. I felt they were trying to rip me off. So in I asked him to leave . I called another company Laury from Vineland they came out explained everything and repaired the leak at a cost of just over $800.00 . On a further not the tech Brad could have cared less that I was unhappy and shrugged his shoulders when I told him I would never use them again of recommend them to anyone.
We had Campbell Comfort Systems install a simple part in a faucet. We were quoted a price of 165.00 dollars. Once completed, they charged us over 400.00! We tried to get a breakdown of a receipt for weeks, told the request was going to a supervisor (but we were not allowed to talk to this person) and never heard back. Do no use this company, once they have your money, you are out of luck.
Janelle H.Brad was personable via telephone and Pete was very nice. My husband and I wound up talking to him for a good hour at our home on the day of the estimate. Pete and Dom stayed late until all clean up was done on the actual day of service. A huge burden has been lifted.
Corissa P.They do not even deserve 1 star after what my Husband and I just went through. We have used Campbell Comfort in the past for installation of thermostats and an AC issue we had. When we 1st used them they installed the thermostat incorrectly and we contacted them about it. They came back and repaired it, it was an issue on their end and covered it. We contacted them today with an issue that we had with our Heater (we believe it died). We contacted them to come out for service and an estimate on a new unit. I called them when they opened at 8 and the secretary told me someone would contact me back asap. I needed to call back at 10 since I didn't hear anything back from them and we are without heat. I called back and was transferred to Bill (not sure how is affiliated with the company), and he was very rude and very unprofessional. He noticed that they were out in September for our AC unit and he asked about what happened with that issue. They told us the Motor died and needed to be replaced. They wanted to charge us over $900 for a new one. We paid them for the service, but didn't agree to the reacement just yet. My husband found the Motor for $100 online and since he is handy he replaced the motor himself and saved us over $800. Bill made a comment if we come out for this new issue with the Heater and we tell you what is wrong, is your husband going to fix that too. My husband called him back after I contacted him to let him know what happened and he was very rude to him as well. We will never use them again! They do horrible work, they are rude, unprofressional, and are overpriced.
