These guys have everything you need for that DIY home project or to hear and cool your house. It so much faster to go here and ask them for what you need then to wander around Home Depot or drown in Amzon-land. There's ever free parking in the back off of Snt Andrew's! Save yourself the hassle and support local businesses!

They know a lot about plumbing, and they make custom screens, otherwise, it's not worth going since everything costs twice as much as Home Depot. Closed on Sunday. Praise Jeebus.

Forced by the local post office to replace three of the four apartment mailboxes at one of the properties I managed, my postal carrier recommended Callahan Hardware. I was completely grateful and surprised how quickly they came to mind as if he'd get a kickback if I were to make a purchase there. As a first-timer, would I continue to consider them as another option as a property manager!?

PURCHASE
Surface Mounted USPS Access 6-Doors Vertical Mailboxes ($209.94 x 4): Nearly identical to the ones I had to replace, these 40 lb. all aluminum construction brass boxes came well-packaged https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=OwPOi7SRTEO2Eh8OWXrtVw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw and were relatively easy and light to carry; then, eventually a simple installation process with the help of two people https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=2ZjHK75XyWuvBrUj2Wo1cQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw. They looked fabulous in place, the price cheaper than what I found online, complied with the USPS, and compliments from various tenants equated to a positive situation all-around.

SERVICE
Greeted by an older gentleman, I directly asked if he carried the mailboxes and he definitively confirmed that he did. He was able to answer questions I had about the product and how to install them which he assured me with his knowledge and professionalism. No-nonsense service where you should have an idea what you were looking for in order to get in and get out as quickly as possible.

Otherwise, there were plenty of metered and timed street parking along the main drag of Western Ave. and surrounding streets (please read all posted signs).

ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE

I didn't see a garden center, but they provided other services like key cutting and special orders. The walls - if you were able to see them - were covered in a few spots with various promotional posters and signage. Minimal amount of natural lighting came in through the tinted and dirty large glass front doors and windows while soul-sucking electric fluorescent ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were no TVs while rock music played in the background.

ATTIRE
Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops.

OVERALL
I would gladly add Callahan Hardware to my ever-growing list of small local hardware stores needed to manage rental properties. They carrried a myriad of items the big box stores didn't sell nor special ordered but ones I found to be hard-to-find and needed with some of the older properties. The prices seemed really competitive along with a decent selection. The small staff I dealt with were very informative. Don't let the aesthetics scare you off because there was a wealth of products inside. I found exceptionally good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $920.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice...AMEX! 4.5 STARS

Well stocked neighborhood hardware store. It can be overwhelming for a lady to walk in but I was assisted by the friendly staff and was able to buy everything I needed from picture hangers, sink basket, to drapery hooks. Jim was patient enough to answer all of my questions about my home projects and made recommendations. They offer quality brands (i.e. Stanley) that are reasonably priced while some are even cheaper compared to Amazon especially if you don't need supplies in bulk. I am very happy and satisfied with my visit and definitely recommend Callahan - excellent customer service!
