OMG, Gerald is SO knowledgeable about residential boilers and heat pumps! He is super familiar with our old Munchkin boiler, that he kept a graveyard of them as a source of parts for the now-discontinued product. He was very responsive to our no-heat, no-hot-water situation and made room in his schedule to get it fixed right away. He knew why the boiler had failed and what was needed to prevent it from failing again. He charged less for the whole job than another contractor was going to charge just for the parts.

As well we discussed heat pumps, and he was fully aware of what would need to be changed with our system to use a heat pump instead of a gas boiler. The guy knows his stuff, is responsible, and is a straight shooter. He saved us from out boiler outage quickly, and we have found our guy to install a heat pump. I could not recommend him more.

Gerald was extremely knowledgable, friendly, and helpful. Fixed the issue on the first try with my Lochinvar Knight water boiler. After describing the problem to him over the phone, and with some pictures of the unit that I sent, he came prepared with the necessary spare parts. He replaced those parts and did some additional maintenance, always explaining what was going on along the way. I inherited the system from the previous owner, and his explanations were extremely helpful.

We have a hydronic radiant floor heating system, which also supplies domestic hot water. The gas-fired boiler died, and Gerald was one of four contractors that looked at the unit and provided an estimate for replacement. We chose California Plumbing & Radiant Heating because Gerald was clearly an expert and provided a very competitive bid.

The work was completed on time and on budget, without any surprises. The work looks very clean, with nice welds and other attention to detail. I can't think of any area that they didn't meet or exceed expectations. Oh, and their office was very polite and responsive when I emailed to request some information I needed to register the warranty on the boiler.

If you need maintenance or repairs on your hydronic floor heating system, then this company should be on your short list of contractors to speak with.

As a relatively new homeowner inheriting a fairly complex hydronic radiant heat system, I've been looking for a plumbing partner. I'd used two other services in the past and while both charged be a bunch and made minor fixes, neither fixed my problems long term.

In Gerald, I've found that partner--he was communicative in scheduling (via text), prompt at our appointment, and quickly diagnosed and fixed my problems. I plan to work with him to install upgrades to the system as well. I'm not sure why he doesn't have many reviews on Google yet, but don't let that deter you, he's an expert and a great person to work with.

The service that California Plumbing & Radiant Heating provides is something that every tradesman and company should strive to be.

I called the number listed on their page and was directly connected to Gerald (the owner I believe) to schedule a service consultation. I've already had two companies come out before to come out for a hydronic heater that seemingly no-one in the bay had knowledge to service. Over the phone, Gerald went over things that could have gone wrong and provided an in-depth analysis and even agreed to come out without a charge if nothing required work.

He arrived ontime, ready to work with equipment and tools in hand and with a courteous and professional attitude. He spent the next 45 minutes diagnosing the air heater and running me through all the things that could go wrong. In the end, he flushed the system and provided an honest opinion that the air handler was working correctly, just that the water heater temperature had to be raised in order to generate hotter air.

Gerald was honest, knowledgeable and provided possible next steps to improving heating performance. He stayed true to his word and did not bill me as nothing needed immediate replacement. (I wanted to tip in order to cover his time and gas). Should something go wrong with my heater in the future, California Plumbing & Radiant Heating will be the first people I call!
