I've been using Calico Plumbing for over 10 years. Nick is always on time and ready to tackle the job. He's professional and explains what needs to be done and why. I recommend Calico Plumbing to anyone who wants the job done right.

Nick has been my plumber for over 20 years. He is honest, does great work and has good prices. He bends over backwards to fit my jobs in and I am very satisfied with his work.

I never like having to write a negative review about any company or business, but what I've just been through with Calico Plumbing warrants sharing my story, if for no other reason than for me to ventilate after so much unnecessary frustration and poor treatment by this company AND to save others wasted time and exasperation.

I was in contact for 3 months with Nick regarding a somewhat unique and specialized plumbing issue that I knew he could handle, because of having worked with him several years ago when I was single and lived in an apartment. FYI, at that time, he did a fine job of addressing my problem (this was sometime between 2008-2011). Fast forward to 2018. I am married and living in a home. I contacted Calico Plumbing in about mid-February for an issue with one of our bathrooms. Instead of telling me up front when I first contacted him in February, 2018 that he had too much work and probably wouldn't be able to help me at this time, he dragged me through all kinds of ""muck"", including: two 45 minute phone calls in which he told me all about how he was going to approach the problem and what he would do. That, in my book, is alot of precious time yacking on and on, a waste of my time. He requested email photos of the problem under my sink , (done, no problem). Now it's early April, still no follow up from Nick about when he will be able to come out. I call him back, here we go, another tiresome, long, long phone call : He said something was wrong with his professional vehicle and it needed work before he could come over. He thought that might take most of the month of April to get done, something to that effect. I waited another 5 weeks and then checked back during mid-May, at which time he informed me that he was very backed up with his work and was advised by his manager that he had to catch up with all his earlier work because he'd fallen behind (and hence was not available). He also went into a whole long thing (this is on email) about the cost of phone consults and home-drop-in consults. Hello?? I'm just hearing about this now??? I had to remind him we had already talked at length on the phone twice plus he had photos I had emailed, what more did he need to know?? Should have told me about these ""fees"" earlier, but even with that new info, I was willing to move forward . Let's just book you for this work, already (I'm thnking to myself). He also said he had been ill, which of course I understand, this having been a very rough flu/cold season for many people, myself included. And then he said he couldn't help me and I should look for someone else. Fine! Why not tell me this three months ago??

Bottom line: I am very disappointed with the lack of professionalism from Nick and Calico Plumbing. If his manager is so concerned about what's happened to her employee (as he tells me is the case) with all his various travails, she needs to find some substitute plumbers to fill in for him.

So to cut to the chase, I am not saying that the quality of work might not be ok, if you can ever get Nick or someone else from Calico to actually follow through (my past experience had been fine). But if you are looking for quick and high quality service for your plumbing needs, without alot of nonsense to go along with your interaction, don't waste your time. Look elsewhere.

Nick is outstanding. Had a bunch of curious issues in kitchen sink, shower, etc. He came ( right when promised ), sorted everything out, while taking the time to spell out for me all the ways I can self-diagnose and resolve problems without paying him to visit!

Weeks later, had a drain error on dishwasher and could not resolve by clearing unit filters. Called him on a Saturday - he took the call and walked me through all the plumber steps he'd take to sort things out. I did as suggested and problem is resolved.

He's not only a great plumber who is not in it simply for an extra buck, but he wants to make sure I know how to take care of my property and avoid wasting $ on plumbers!

Thanks, Nick!
