We moved into our first home on a Friday. Less than 48 hours later, on a Sunday morning, our toilets weren't flushing. Gary at Cali Rooter & Plumbing was the only plumber who could make it out that same day. He snaked the main sewer line, but was encountering some major resistance. He needed to look at the line with a camera, which he did same-day. Diagnosis -- the main sewer line had collapsed. We had had a sewer inspection while in escrow two months earlier. The inspector said the 80-year old cast iron line should be replaced soon, but it wasn't urgent. I thought I had a six months at least. Guess not.

I should say this about Gary -- he gives you all the information you might need and then some. He's patient about explaining what your options are and what would need to be done depending on the choice you make. We chose to replace the line and fix the city connection, which had a slight crack in it. It was a big job, and it wasn't cheap. But Gary's quote was in line with what I had heard this job might cost back when we had the inspection.

It required digging three holes -- one near our take-out, one in our front yard, one very deep one in the street. They had to get permits and the go-ahead from the city to do this. Gary said it would all be fixed within three weeks. They fixed it in less than one week. They had the permits by Tuesday, the DWP was out marking lines with paint on Wednesday, the seven/eight-man crew came out Thursday and dug the holes, pulled the new pipes through and connected them to the city. The city inspector was out there the next morning and gave the go-ahead. The crew filled the holes back in, and we were all set.

We never once had to move out of the house. Even that first Sunday when the line backed up, Gary and his guys were able to clean it out enough that we could get by until it was fixed.

Gary also gave me lots of advice on other aspects of the plumbing and water valves on our property. He's very friendly, very helpful. I will go back to him for any other jobs that pop up in the future. But hopefully we're set for a little while. Thanks to them.

Wow! Called John utterly panicked, we had a huge leak coming from under the house. Very calmly, he talked me through shutting off the water to the house and the sprinklers to stop the gush. He had a technician on the way before I could even say ""thank you."" If you have a plumbing emergency, call John!! He will take care of you!

We own a duplex and these guys are the only ones who consistently come through for for us when we have plumbing issues. Emergencies, weekends, always come through and are fairly priced. Communication is key and they always respond quickly and explain the repairs clearly. Highly recommend.

Great plumbing service. I called today and they were able to get someone out to my house late this afternoon.
John was the technician and he went out of his way to fix the issue and also found a couple other problem spots that he also fixed.
I now know who to call when there are leaks or plumbing issues.

Had a clogged sewer line at one of our apartment buildings. Sent request through Yelp and the response was quick. Was able to schedule for an estimate the same day and they provided a reasonable price. The job took them a few hours due to the she of you building, but they cleared the line.

Everyone was courteous and answered all of my questions online and over the phone. Will be keeping them in my resource list.
