After many phone calls to plumbers late in the day on a weekday afternoon, George was the only one who both picked up the phone live and was available to come out on an emergency basis to help my elderly mother whose washing machine caused a flood on her lower level. He arrived in a timely manner and was able to assess the situation quickly. George willingly drove to Home Depot to get parts that he needed to fix the washing machine and restore the water in the house. He was very polite and treated my mother with respect. Unfortunately the problem turned out to be more complicated than it seemed when he made the visit and the washing machine problem was not resolved. George had asked a fair price, but my mother is on a fixed income and every cent is important to her. I called George to ask if he would consider reimbursing us for the cost of his labor, and he graciously agreed to do so. He kept his word and delivered the cash to my mother promptly. I'm giving him 3 stars because he wasn't able to completely resolve the problem, but he certainly is an honest professional who's willing to stand by his work.

I called George late in the afternoon on one of the first hot days of this year. I was experiencing a problem with an external spigot that I had broken, and that was spraying a non-stop stream of water into my driveway. Despite the fact that he was approaching the end of a long day, during which he had been bouncing around town to help people with air conditioning problems, George said that he would stop by that evening. He showed-up as promised and did his best to fashion a temporary fix for the problem -- which we agreed to revisit together following the approaching weekend. Overnight I experienced a related problem (not due in any part to George's work). I texted him and he said that he's be back to my house first thing in the morning. He arrived in the morning as promised, and was able to further diagnose and resolve the problem. In the process of doing so, he found an external water shut-off valve inside my house that I hadn't been able to find after more than seven years of living in the home. He did not charge me for the morning visit, even though he ended up putting considerable additional time into the job.

George has provided HVAC service to me over the past 5 years and I think he is one of the best in the industry. George installed our new air/heating system. He told me that once he installs a system he would be there to provide whatever follow up and support was needed. He has been true to his word. George is responsible, trustworthy and has exceptional technical expertise. He can detect a problem quickly and does not try to drive up the job to something that is a more expensive fix. Recently, we had an ""emergency"" problem with a water heater that been designated as having a faulty pilot by the Gas Company. George responded immediately, determined that it was not faulty (and an error by the gas company) and helped us avoid having to replace the water heater prior to sale of the house.

George is honest, reliable, and does great work. What more can you ask for? Throw in the fact that he is a genuinely nice guy who is fun to chat with, and you know when it comes to HVAC needs, you're all set. We discovered George and his business through Yelp (thanks Yelp!). We've used him for basic things (freon injection for ac) and not so basic things (furnace replacement). He is available on short notice (even in the dog days of summer), is always timely, explains things in a way even the most technologically challenged can understand, has reasonable prices, and gets the job done right the first time. The fact that he takes great pride in his work and wants you to be completely satisfied is refreshing. And all done with such good cheer! Amazing.

George replaced our furnace and air conditioner unit three years ago when our aging unit went out during a period of 90 degree weather. I called several ""big name"" companies. Not only could they not get out for several weeks but their estimates seemed high. George was referred to us by a friend. George worked us into his busy schedule and his estimate was most reasonable. George was out last week to check on the AC unit. The fan was running but the air was only room temperature. The unit just needed to be recharged with coolant. I feel we are ""fair game"" with these HVAC companies. But I feel most comfortable working with George. He is honest, competent, timely, and pleasant. He was the first person I called when the furnace at our sons townhouse needed to be checked and I will continue to call upon him if and when I need HVAC check ups and repairs. I highly recommend George Stratakos.

I had a great experience with George. He installed a new split ductless heatpump/AC system in my very old DC condo, and it was not perhaps the most straight-forward job in the world (we joked that it was a design-build sort of project). I got a very fair price from George, something that allowed him to do a bang-up job on the install, but also one that was very fair for me. He gave me what I needed, nothing more, nothing less. and he was honest, hard-working, and pleasant to deal with throughout. Perfect! I will most definitely rely on him for routine maintenance of my system over the long haul.

This week my ac quit. Temperatures above 100. First call to Cabin John Plumbing and HVAC. George looked at the outside compressor, flicked the fan to get it working, but told me the motor needed to be replaced. I think that was the correct diagnosis. It had become loud and would not click on correctly. George drove out to Gaithersburg to get the new motor and worked for several hours to replace the fan blades. Without luck. New fan blades had to be ordered from Baltimore. The job was tougher and took longer than anticipated but George did his best to get it done as quickly as possible. Works fine now. I'd recommend him to anyone, and will call him again for hvac or plumbing needs.

Sting me once, shame on the bee; sting me twice, shame on me. George is knowledgeable and nice enough, but I've been stood up twice now, so I'm moving on. The first time he no-showed, at least he called. But the second time, I called him 15 minutes after the scheduled appointment and he said, ""Oh crap. I completely spaced."" I gave him some time to make amends and offer a discount, but instead, he just said, ""Well, it was raining anyway today, but I guess I should've called."" Yeah. Thanks.

George is a stand-up guy. He shows up on-time, explains (in laymens terms) the problem, and gives you an extremely reasonable price. You know how sometimes you feel like you got ripped off for something with which you had no other choice but to repair? Never got that feeling from George.

I had him come to fix a simple flap on my AC system. He came back a second time to refill the freon and change the filters in my HVAC system. Both times he showed up on time and gave us an accurate quote.
