C and K began in 1968 by Corwin Stephan -- over 40 years later, we remain a family-owned business.

Corwin's son, Steve, became the owner in 1994 after dedicating his career to C and K since 1987. Currently, we employ over 40 staff members and operate a fleet of 50 trucks -- each one painted in the iconic green of our first truck.

Several of our early commercial and residential customers continue to trust C and K for their heating and cooling needs to this day. The C and K tradition has been handed down through generations. We used C & K Heating and Air Conditioning to replace the home furnace/AC when the 25 year old equipment began to fail. Their professional salesperson was knowledgeable and provided very competitive quotes and higher quality products and took care of all rebates without issue. We got better efficiency equipment and the quote was $1000 less than a competitor with less efficient equipment. Plus they provided a years worth of service 2 times/year) for free. The installers were very nice and cleaned up well.

We also have used C and K's Plumbing service with good results. Had to put in a new shut off valve because the old one was leaking and very old, some fixture work in the bathroom, adding of a hand shower, and 16 fixing a wobbling toilet.

Have found their people to all be professional, personable and reliable.

The company communicates well via text to let you know when they are arriving with a picture of the service person which is a nice feature.

I recommend C and K. We are two for two and I've just called them again today to fix a gas leak on a 1974 natural gas garage heater.

C&K have done three different installation jobs in two separate properties for me over the last two years and have done a very professional job each time. They installed a water heater in a house in Ames, an A/C-Furnace in my house in Nevada and also a split unit in a sun room. Each time the prices were fair and the service impeccable. They were onsite when they promised to be there, did a quality job and cleaned up completely after the work.

Crap. The technician spent 2 min relighting the pilot light, told me that I need a new water heater, and charged 80$ for the ""service"". The next day, my friend simply cleaned the vent screen and it works again. C&K is not interested to repair, they only sells. So do not hire sales person to fix your mechanicals.

Please read carefully and think twice for having a service from C and K, I would say be away from this company. Please read below what happened with me:

On Friday, October 12, I found that my heating system is not working, I called C & K for service. I was really disappointment what the technician said. Technician visited our house looked the furnace, and said furnace blower is dead, inducer motor is barely working but need to be replaced and heat exchanger could be damaged, so recommended to replace a whole unit. The technician who visited our house said he also talked with other technician at office and agreed with his assessment. Later on the same day other guy from C & K visited our house, said unit should be replacing, and he gave the quote. I was almost said go ahead and replace the whole unit but later I decided to go for second or third opinion. I called two other companies. I called HVAC specialist ""Neighbors heating and cooling"" (Doug Wierson) to estimate a price of a unit by considering to replace the unit and I was also doing market analysis. He was very nice, said, could be no problem in the unit. He gave a quote but suggested me to have his technician to find whether it is really dead. Following Monday (15th Oct) Neighbor's technician looked the unit and said everything is alright, only problem he found few drops of condensate water in flue pipe which is connected to inducer motor and weak run blower's capacitor. He removed the water and then unit started running fine. Technician said capacitor is running fine but better to replace, has lower end performance but not required. I asked him to replace. He said that condensation is a normal process, it is usually clean up during the yearly tune up service. I am TPS member of C and K, and surprising to me, I was always with technician during yearly service and never noticed they cleaned that pipe. Now, my heating system is running fine and the second company saved my several thousands hard working money, thanks to him. On 17th October, I got third opinion from Harvest heating and air conditioning, just to make sure my heating system is safe and got consistent assessment with second opinion from Neighbors heating and cooling. My previous experiences, including this one said, C and K always try to take benefit from their customer trouble. Sometime, we need to take a decision right away whatever they say we may need to say yes and replace it, like my case, I was about to agree to replace the unit. I have few other bad experiences with C and K that I can share, if you want. I have an assessment copy from all technician and can share if you need.

Do you know what, it was almost freezing temperature with two little kids in home that week, I was so much distracted both from family and work with such wrong evaluation, took almost 3 days off from work. So, I decided to share with all friends and families and all my around neighbors. Decision is up to you whether you should continue working with C and K. Thanks.
