1. On 12/26/18 my tenant informed me that the HVAC system in my rental home was not working properly as the emergency heat was on. CB Lucas agreed to come out that day or the next for a service call charge of $110.
2. The CB Lucas technician contacted me via phone stating that I needed to replace the entire HVAC system and was trying to sell me a 7k system. I told him I would need a second opinion/bid and I could not commit at that time.
3. About 30 minutes later, the tech called back stating that the problem with the HVAC system was actually that it just had (2) filters crammed in the filter space (instead of just one) and that they were both dirty. Also mentioned that the system could use a ""topping off"" of fluids.
4. Two days later, my tenant complained that the emergency heat was back on. I contacted another company who also told me that the entire system should be replaced - that was my second opinion!
5. I saw the $495 charge from CB Lucas on my billing statement. The tech never informed me that the fluids would cost an exorbitant $385 and I never received a bill or receipt which I need for tax purposes as it is a rental home.
6. I contacted the manager of CB Lucas in early January and informed him that it seemed a dishonest practice to have the tech backtrack and claim it was only a minor issue (dirty filter/fluids needed) after it was stated that I would require a second opinion before spending a large sum of money for a replacement HVAC system. Also it was unfair to charge $385 for fluids without informing me of the high cost. My other complaint was that an itemized billing receipt which I need for tax reporting purposes was never received. The manager informed me that he would send me a bill/receipt, look into my complaint and call me back.
7. As of 2/15/19, I have not received any contact from CB Lucas or any receipt/itemized bill.
Lisa B.Lucas tech came to repair HVAC unit April 2017. Tech diagnosed leaking coil and was excellent. He added Freon, got unit functional, and informed me the coil would need replacing. I provided tech with manufacturer's parts warranty info and he provided price to do repair. Price was steep, but I was told it was complicated repair and system would need to be drained to make repair.
I followed up with Lucas multiple times and was told, ""Part was on back-order"". Finally, in October (eight months later) when I called them I was told my unit was ""never registered for product warranty"" but they could get me an alternate coil somewhere else. This was a bold face lie. I called the manufacturer's distributor and manufacturer to verify both my warranty and part availability. Yes, I had a 10-year parts warranty. Yes, the part was once again on backorder and would be back in stock middle of November. I asked if it was typically for a part to be out of stock for eight months. The distributor opted ""not to comment"". However, if Lucas had an alternate coil option for me why did it take them eight months to suggest this?
I have worked with Lucas in the past and found them to be ethical, so the only explanation for of this behavior is 1) something has changed there; or 2) they simply did not want to perform this repair. If they didn't want to complete this job they should have had curtesy of telling me this instead of stringing me along for eight months, leaving me to chase them down and then bold face lying to me like some crazy ex-girlfriend. Maybe I simply was the ""perfect storm"" customer, but they never made any effort to make it right either. I would NOT recommend them to others.
Excellent company, very professional and pleasant, the one and only issue for me would be the administrator that answers the phone to set up appointment's is extremely rude and nasty and for that reason and that reason alone I have and will not use them again, customer service is paramount in today's environment, there are to many other companies willing to go that extra mile to do good business all around.
William R.They have done a couple of plumbing jobs at my house and for several years I have had an annual contract for HVAC inspection with them. What I paid for plumbing has been reasonable and the HVAC inspection has been good. For both plumbing and HVAC, the guys who came were knowledgeable, talked with me about the issues, and gave useful information. Scheduling appointments with a phone call is easy.
Josh G.Billy, their supervisor, was out at our house for a construction project. Our AC had started spitting hot air (with it being 80 degrees) the night before. He jumped right in, diagnosed a valve, and solved the problem, even though that wasn't at all what he was her for. Great service, and we'll be using them in the future.
Let me preface this with I USED TO love them. But in the last 2 months their service has gone WAY downhill. And as a corporate client that needs to have confidence in their contractors that are taking care of our products, that is a HUGE problem. I requested service 6/1 and a call to confirm that they received the email. Which never came, When I called they said they would get out Monday. Ok, it's hot, they are busy, we can live with that. But then they went out and made some minor repairs and then...nothing. So I could only assume that the work had been completed. Boy was I surprised when I got an irate email from my customer saying they have been waiting 3 weeks. And when I called, all I got was ""the manager will call you when he gets caught up, he's doing 2 people's job. It's been nearly 3 hours, no call. Not surprised. Just saddened. I guess the residential clients are more important and that they don't have the gumption to say ""we're too busy"". Which I could understand and appreciate way more than leaving someone hanging for 3 weeks....
We had to have two units replaced at the same time and got a few quotes. CB Lucas was the most comprehensive giving us several options and came in with the best price. Mike explained the differences between the options, giving us the pros and cons of each helping us make the right decision for our needs as well as meeting a price we were comfortable with. When the day came for installation, they did both units on the same day, which I thought was pretty ambitious, but the company sent 4 guys to work on it and all of them, Butch , Chris, Brandon and Jordan came in , introduced themselves, told me where they would be working and what they would be doing. Very personable and professional. It was 90 degrees in the house while they worked in the basement and attic and they maintained their friendliness and professionalism throughout the day. They finished much faster than I anticipated and explained the completed work and new equipment thoroughly. I couldn't be any happier with the level of service that CB Lucas provided.
CB Lucas and Co. installed a new Trane heating/air conditioning system for me earlier this month (May 2016) and, from start to finish (sales, back office, installation), they were absolute professionals and a pleasure to do business with. As a customer, I felt that they were not just selling me new equipment (which I really needed) but also were dedicated to addressing the problems with my old system. They listened to the issues I was trying to fix with the new system and came up with practical and implementable solutions. The installers (Troy, Monica, Jordan) were true professionals and answered all my questions thoroughly and in terms that I could understand. Absolutely first class all the way. You can buy new HVAC equipment from just about anyone, but it takes a dedicated and professional team to put customer needs first. I heartily recommend CB Lucas and Co.
Andy C.We needed a replacement HVAC system for our town home. Mike came out and did a thorough inspection before preparing an estimate, and did not try to sell the world to us. He gave several options and explained each one very well. We got 4 quotes from different companies, and not only was CB Lucas the most thorough, but also the best price. Two days later two guys from CB Lucas were installing the new system and did a fantastic job. It was obvious they were very experienced and detailed. They sat down with us in the end and went over the entire system. I highly recommend this company.
Frank C.I utilized them via Lowe's HVAC service. They gave me one of the four quotes I got. CB Lucas was the most professional and thorough of the four. They gave me options based upon what I needed and wanted. They also gave me the best value.
After doing a ton of research on the companies and the producrts, we made the decision to go with CB Lucas and Lowe's. The turnaround from decision to installation was about 5 days.
The 2 guys that came to do the install were polite, professional and answered all of my questions. They walked me through the system and any routine maintenance we would have to do. We walked through a 36 point inspection checklist and that was it.
Both installers had been with CB Lucas for 10 years plus. That's the sign of a good company to me and my experience validated that.
