Had an under-sink leak at the shutoffs on a Saturday night, had to shut the water off to the house. Based on Yelp reviews I called By the Book on Sunday morning and the (actually super useful) AI dispatcher ""Nina"" that answers the phone took all my information, answered my questions including the service charge to come check (very reasonable), and scheduled an appointment for Sunday afternoon about 4 hours later, which I was pleased about for a weekend emergency.

5 minutes later Leon called, confirmed everything, asked if I was available sooner or wanted to wait, I told him I was available anytime and he said he would be there in 60-90 minutes. About 45 minutes later he arrived, super friendly and clearly competent, at one point I asked if he used to be a home inspector. I summarized the issue, he checked everything from the meter to the main shutoff to the leak and isolated the issue quickly. The repair estimate was very reasonable and waived the charge for the service call. Because of the nature of the leak, he dispatched another company they partner with on leak detection, he arrived while Leon was fixing the leak and they both left at the same time, about an hour before the estimated arrival I was initially given.

Along the way, Leon pointed out a few issues which he wrote up in a report with estimates - it was very informative and did not feel like any kind of high pressure sales.

Leon from By the Book is saved in my contacts for any future plumbing/HVAC issues I run into, and he's actually scheduled to come back tomorrow for a non-emergency issue I was going to have another company look at. What a gift to call a plumber on Sunday and be surprised both by how good and how inexpensive they are.

Commercial plumbing issues??????? Leon is the MAN! Quick response, professional repair, good prices. I used to work for a plumbing contractor in San Diego years ago and I have to say LEON is the MAN! Very helpful, knowledgeable and fixed it right the first time! We have one bathroom in our office/shop and our toilet would not flush properly, you would have to flush and flush and flush and flush each time (very loud and annoying every time you flush). Happy to report that my toilet is working like new thanks to Leon!

Truly a commendable operation that Leon and the rest of the gracious staff run here. I've used their services a few times already and they do a great job in both explaining the reasoning behind the issues and how to prevent future clogging, etc from occurring again. I had these new tankless heaters installed at our home. One heater had a fault code and stopped working I contacted By the book plumbing. Leon came out right away and corrected the problem. The company ordered a new part for the heater and came back and replaced the defective part free of cost. Outstanding customer service and installation of these 2 units. My place had an emergency with a pipe leak due to old valves and luckily Leon was able to come to my place right away and fix the water line and stopped the water from continuing to pour into my home. He replaced all of my valves to help prevent it from happening again. He also did some work on my water heater to have the installation up to the latest requirements.
