Jim Proper is one amazing guy! We have worked with him for years now, and are the blessed beneficiaries of his dedicated, caring service for the systems in our home in Genoa.
Without hesitation, we would recommend Burris Plumbing & Heating - Jim responds to calls quickly (and even faster for emergency services like we had earlier this month), arrives with a smile and an upbeat attitude and tackles everything effectively and efficiently.
No need to call further: stick with the best, and that's Jim Proper.

The work Burris has done has been excellent. The difficulty is getting them to do the work. Jim came to my home a couple of months ago to size up a job I needed doing. He said he'd ""get back to me"" with an estimate and a date for doing the work. I haven't heard from him since.

Refused my request to turn off truck (and save energy and reduce air pollution) while parked in my driveway.

Broke faucet while undoing hose that was not necessary to do and which they didnot tellme aobut. I found broken faucet after they left.

They brought ~45' snake that did not reach clog. Brain Drian had longer snake that cleaned out clog in a few minutes.

So, when they left I still had the original problem plus a newly broke faucet plus annoying pollution in driveway.

NYSEG is replacing the main gas line down the street, and yesterday they did the disconnect/re-connect for my house. Unfortunately, the drafting on my hot water heater was not working properly & they cut it off until I could come up with a solution. I called Burris & they came over early afternoon to take a look. The old pipe leading out of the house was unusable so I had a new power-venting hot water heater installed the same day, using a new route to the outside. It is fantastic. The problem arose in the morning, and by 4PM I was all setup with hot water again. Jim and his crew were friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. I am planning on additional plumbing work I have needed for awhile & will definitely have Burris do it for me. Standby for that review!

Burris i used to use all the time. However in the past year I have experienced horrible service. Mostly from the receptionist on the phone. My girlfriend and I made an appointment to get our furnace checked out in the new home. The serviceman arrived and was there for only a few minutes and said that he would get back to us on an estimate. He never called back nor did the office ever call us back with the estimates we required. We had to call multiple times, and every time the receptionist had no record of Burris even showing up. After 5 months we finally received what we asked for. Very frustrating.

Of just recently, in my home, servicemen did a wonderful job in my part of house, however when I was ready to show them my rental apartment (Attached to my home) they said they did not have on their paperwork that they were to be looking at an apartment. I specifically mentioned this to the receptionist when I made the appointment that I needed service in my home and my rental apartment. The serviceman quickly checked the heat and said it was working. I trusted their judgement, however just a few days later my tenant attempts to use the heat, and it did not work. I received an invoice shortly after and I called again, to mention that the heat did not get fixed and I would appreciate immediate service for my tenant. The receptionist took my information and told me that someone would call back me back that same day. I received no phone call.

I called back again several days later, and again the receptionist told me someone would call me back to set up an immediate appointment. I received no phone call. A few days later, I did receive a phone call from the servicemen saying they were five minutes away from my home and will be stopping by to work on the heat. This extremely inconvenient, and i was given no prior warning. Unfortunately I am a teacher, and I had to teach a class within 10 minutes of them calling. I immediately called their office, and no one answered. I called back again right away and someone answered. Their answer, again was that they would have someone call me back to set up a time. I RECEIVED NO CALL AGAIN!

Finally, I called just last week, and made an appointment. Supposedly I am supposed to have servicemen come tomorrow to finally check my heat again.

I used to be very satisfied with Burris, However within the last year I am extremely disappointed and very angry with them. I feel like most of the problems are in the reception side!

STEER CLEAR of BURRIS!

STEER CLEAR!

I would rather give them no stars, but that's not possible. This is a local company, and I always like to go local (living in Ithaca, NY), but when I called to explain my problem (multiple leaking toilets), I couldn't get an appointment to have someone look at them even for 2 weeks. When I finally convinced them to send someone earlier, he showed up, told me I needed new toilets (total 4), took my orders, and said he'd get back to me ""early next week.""

Well, two full weeks later (and after three frustrated calls put in to the company), he (Jim Burris, the plumber) has yet to return my calls, and now I have tenants moving in to places with toilets that don't work. And still no reply to phone calls. I'm willing to give them/him some slack... who knows, maybe something happened to him, but this is a business, and at least giving someone the truth on the phone might help their situation, instead of making it miserable, while they wait in vain for a phone call from their ""local, reliable"" guy.

Can somebody point me in the direction of a real local plumber who can make an offer, follow up on it and answer phone calls?

In the meantime, anyone reading this, steer clear of Burris!

Burris really knows what they are doing. They saved us after we had heating work done by a guy who is basically a crook. I have nothing but good things to say about Burris.

Terrible customer service. I believe the owner is Jim. When my wife called to ask about the warranty for the furnace he became very rude to my wife. Tappan is not very well know for the quality and the furnace motor fan gave out after only 4 years. We couldn't get a warranty because we are new home owners. After calling twice to have them replace the motor they said it may take a day or two to replace the motor and that they would have to charge us overtime for the replacement. Very dissatisfied.
