I hired Jason to do the plumbing for my basement finish. Jason, the owner, only does the estimating. He has other unprofessional (and probably unlicensed) people who perform the work. I say this because
1) They didn't perform the city required tests, which I had to myself to pass failed inspections.
2)They didn't install the shower handle parts during the rough plumbing, and now, after tile's been installed, it's too late to install it. Good thing they installed the parts for the showerhead itself.
3) Hot and cold are switched
My biggest issue is with the fact that after being paid 90%, he hasn't completed more than half the project. This is due to his predatory payment terms: 50% to start, 90% after rough completion, and only 10% balance to come back and finish final trim. 10% is not enough money to come back and finish the job they've half-assed to begin with. He claims that this work is only two hours of work, yet wasn't able to schedule someone to come out for two and a half months. I ended up hiring someone else to finish the work and discovered all the things they hadn't done, or did incorrectly during the rough plumbing. I spent about 50% of the original project amount.
Don't make the mistake I did. Don't pay him until you've had your final inspections!!
