he doesn't itemize things on the bill, over estimates the problems. especially if your a woman he charged me 400$ specifically for the leaking toilet THAT IS LEAKING WORSE STILL TO THIS DAY. it had just started leaking bout a month prior to his visit and he estimated the floor was damaged and obviously it wasn't. He did unclog my bathroom sink, and bath tub by removing some hair, also he fixed the leaking kitchen sink by tightening it, none which was worth $400. didnt require any extra materials. and took no time. when I called the next day and told them the toilet was still leaking he came back out tightened it again and it instantly was still leaking as soon as he left I called told them it was still leaking and if he can't fix it appropriately for the $400 I gave him I'll leave a review and he never returned.

This was actually before the pandemic, but we called them to fix a problem. My husband took off 2 separate times off work and they didn't show up either time. No call. No show. Do not use this company.

My issue with Bud Hypes was so bad I told him to leave my house and never return. To start, he is incapable of being on time to his own appts. I took days off work when he told me he was gonna show up and then just didn't. So he owes me my time/money back for his tardiness. Additionally, when he works he's constantly complaining in the house and makes a complete mess that he doesn't clean up. He carried a used, broken toilet, through my entire house leaving a trail of nasty water on my floors. Last thing he does is scam people. He says one price and then tries to come back at you after for extra money. Look. The only reason I used him was because of American Home Shield, because if you have the option, use literally ANYONE ELSE! He's lazy and does the bare minimum with no regard to the quality in his work

Please do not call Bud Hypes. They gave me the run around and lied to me about many things. First, the estimated price included a basement floor drain and then it did not once they showed up to work. They were unprepared, did not have the adequate parts and tools, and did drain work that was neither agreed upon or up to code. They were also going to leave me with a defective shower diverter had I not tested it. When I discussed concerns, the owner Jim became extremely hostile and argumentative and made bogus accusations when all I wanted was a quality installation. He calls himself a master plumber, but he is tired, old, lazy, and doesn't care about doing quality work yet demands very high labor prices. The woman who works the office and his laborers were also very low class and they left their trash all over my house. I am downright depressed and full of regret I called Bud Hypes.

Their customer service was awful! The first plumber that came to diagnose the problem was good at his job. However, he was not the same one who came back to fix the problem. It took almost 2 weeks for a different plumber to come back and once they finally did he basically refused to fix the leak because he couldn't get a rusted bolt off so he left. The first plumber had to come back and fix it. I will never use this company again. The whole experience was a hassle and took entirely too long to get the problem fixed.

On February 18, we called Bud Hypes to help with a burst pipe--the water service line to our home. They came out far quicker than their home office estimated, which is the best I can say for them.

With only a visual inspection of the places in our yard from which water had been pouring, the plumbers told us our line could not be repaired and that it would have to have a full service line replacement. When we explained that the existing service line ran through a larger sheath pipe beneath our driveway and garage, installed during the construction of the home to prevent the driveway and garage floor from having to be dug up in just such a scenario as we found ourselves in, they claimed that it was doubtful that they could install the new line through that sheath pipe. They said doing so was ""really hard to do."" (Translation: feeding a 1 inch diameter pipe through a 4 inch diameter pipe would be ""really hard to do."") They said they could try, but they weren't sure it would work.

When we asked why this was difficult, the lead plumber said they believed the leak was coming from within that sheath pipe. (Nevermind that this would have caused our basement to fill with water, as the only thing protecting the basement end of the sheath pipe was a bit of insulation.)

When we pointed out that the leaks were coming from the yard itself, the lead plumber said that the pipe was ""all broken up down there"" and indicated the whole line, saying there were multiple breaks, not just the two we could see in the yard.

The lead plumber then gave us an estimate for the service line replacement--again, after only the visual inspection--which came to $3,800. We said we would get other estimates before we proceeded, and they departed.

We called Baker Home Services for a second opinion. Instead of giving us estimate based on visual inspections, Baker actually dug down at the leak points in our yard, found the single leak, caused by a fractured joint in the PVC line, which had bled beneath some insulation to form a second point further along the yard. They not only repaired it but tested the line for other leaks and none were found. Their entire cost for nearly four hours work came to only $237. Baker Home Services are our heroes. Bud Hypes are our villains.

I cannot say Bud Hypes Plumbing does poor work, as they were not allowed to attempt to repair our problem. But I can say these particular plumbers, under instructions from the home office, had no fear of an absurdly high estimate based on only visual information. You can use your own judgement as to their assertions on the true cause of our leak(s).
