Company Overview

In Cookeville, TN, Buck's Plumbing & Sewer Service stands as a third-generation establishment, serving the Upper Cumberland community for over 57 years. With a focus on quick and professional repairs, this plumbing company values customer satisfaction, establishing itself as a respected community member. Plumbing is more than just a comfort; it protects your home or business from dangerous contaminants. That’s why, when your pipes or fixtures malfunction, you rely on the experts at Buck's Plumbing & Sewer Service. Our experienced six-person team specializes in a wide range of repairs, from installing water heaters to detecting gas leaks and cleaning sewers and drains.

In 1960, Lester Buck launched a plumbing company known as Cookeville Sewer Service. He managed the company until 1994, when he sadly passed away.

Growing up, Jerry Buck worked alongside his father, Lester, on service calls after school and during summer vacations. Jerry launched his own plumbing company in 1972, now recognized as Buck's Plumbing & Sewer Service. After Lester's passing, Jerry integrated Cookeville Sewer Service into Buck's Plumbing, taking over all of Lester's clients.

When Jerry retired in 2011, his son Shane Buck took the helm and elevated the company. By acquiring two other companies, Shane has more than tripled his father's business.

Currently, Buck's Plumbing & Sewer Service holds the title of the oldest family-operated plumbing business in Cookeville, TN, and the Upper Cumberland.

“The key takeaway for me has been to maintain honesty and fairness with our customers and staff. That is what shapes our identity today.” - Shane Buck

As a child, I spent my summers and after-school hours helping my father, which sparked my passion for solving problems. When I turned 18, I went to college for a desk job, but after completing my business degree, I recognized that the family business was where I belonged. After my father retired in 2011, I took over Buck's Plumbing and elevated it further. By buying out two other companies, I have substantially grown our family business. We are proud to still be the oldest family-owned plumbing company in the Upper Cumberland.

I called the office and the lady told me Shane would call me later. It has been three days since my first call and I have not received any message from Shane yet. I know it is a busy time of the year, or any time is busy for this business. However, if you don't have time to take more jobs, then just say it!!

I am sorry that I have to give one star for this encounter, not even a service at all.

Blew off 3 appointments on Septic Inspection. Worst service provider I have tried to use in years, possibly in my life. Accepts jobs, appointments and makes promises but is incapable of providing service on time, and incapable of returning calls. Staff is clueless and has no ability to do anything take a message for which you will not be called back. Kind of a problem if you want your septic inspected for a new house under contract. ADVICE: Use another company or prepare to have your time wasted. You can't trust a business that can't use a phone.

Had my leak from the meter to the house fixed in a little over 2 hours . Price was fair and was happy with their work will always use this Company. I give them a five star rating. We had estimate from another plumber that was outrageous. Thank goodness for Buck's

My water heater tore up and flooded my bathroom bc it's located in the bathroom. I called them on a Friday night and they had Craig and another gentleman to my house the next day. They were completely up front about everything. They went nearby got another water heater and had the job complete and tested the new heater within 2 hours. I have used them before and will use them again for any future issues I may have. I highly recommend them especially if you want fast friendly and professional service!

Did not return phone calls. Did not show up when promised. When they finally did show up, they did not have the parts needed even though we were told they shopped for the parts the day before. They did, however, fix our shower satisfactorily. The man that came to the house was very nice but overall a VERY disappointing experience.

My husband called Buck's before we had major issues with our septic system as we had bought our house about 5 years ago and didn't know when the last time the previous owners had had it pumped. They were going to be out on Tuesday afternoon between 1-4pm. Perfectly fine. I was going to be home, since I babysit for a friend after our kids get home from school on Tuesdays. My husband, who is still at work, calls to say that he got a phone call from them, but couldn't answer it right then, so immediately tried to call back, but no one answered. He tried to call again about 30 minutes later. Still no answer. I'm sitting at home, expecting someone to show up. He gets home from work, and I tell him I'm still waiting. 5pm rolls around and we haven't gotten a call back or seen anyone.

The next day, I try to do a load of laundry and the septic backs up in our bathtub. Emergency call from my husband to Buck's. They are going to have someone out in an hour and say they didn't come yesterday because he didn't answer. Whatever, but perfectly fine. The guys come out, ask if I know where the tank is. I do not. He goes under the house and looks and starts probing the ground where he thinks it might be. I live in Gainesboro in the foothills and my yard is full of rocks. He can't find it for sure. Finally thinks they found it and start digging a bit with a couple of shovels. Don't get far before they have to call for the digger. Again, perfectly fine. They say it will probably be tomorrow before they can get back out to our house, but will try to see if it's possible for them to get out this afternoon, as I'm sitting at home with no way to use the bathroom and a toddler and baby (not to mention my school aged child who will be home soon). I figure, ok, I can go stay with family for the night. Not the end of the world. No one is able to come out that afternoon, so we assume they will be out on Thursday.

The whole day, we try to call over and over, leaving a few voicemails along the way requesting that someone PLEASE call us back and let us know if/when someone will be able to come out. No response ALL DAY. My husband FINALLY gets a hold of someone around 2:30pm. She says the guy with the digger is at another job and she doubts he will be able to make it that day, but tomorrow he will be out.

Today is Friday. It is 1:12pm currently. I have been home again ALL DAY waiting for someone with a digger to come and get this done. My husband JUST got a hold of the receptionist (multiple ignored calls and voicemails have gone by) and she says the guy with the digger is on his way, but they probably won't be able to pump the tank until tomorrow! Another night with no bathroom/laundry/dishes/etc. And we will have to stay somewhere else again! I'm about ready to just say don't bother and I'll call someone else. Oh! And we paid the $90 service fee the one time they did actually come to the house, but the guys then told me this will probably end up being almost $1000 because we live in Gainesboro and need the digger!!

And my favorite part about all of this is that the receptionist didn't even give my husband a time frame this time. So all I have to go on about when the guy will be here today is ""soon"".

On July 28,2019 I paid Buck's Plumbing $770 to fix a a leak in a broken pipe. today i paid another plumber to fix the same pipe. I was assured that the problem was taken care or, but apparently not. One more thing I paid $75 for three guys to come out and stand in my front yard to give me an estimate, I would not recommend or use them again

Terrible! Would not ever call them. I had a septic tank back up for three weeks. Called everyone in town and had no calls back. When I finally got someone at Bucks to answer the phone she said they would call back to schedule...they did not. I called again and they scheduled it for the next week at 8 am...they did not show up! I finally called my brother who recommended Pyburn and I called them and they were there within an hour and had the problem fixed within 3 hours! They were very reasonable priced and I will recommend Pyburn Plumbing to everyone. Do not call Bucks!

I scheduled an appointment, they were a no call no show. I had to call them, receptionist said there was a problem with the hose....no apologies nothing...just facts. I started the process over again the next day trying to get someone to come out...accidentally called them back. Unfortunately I went ahead and set up another appointment, guy showed up and after seeing the septic tank area, asked how old the house was and they would have to come back with a backo, and it would be $550.00 he couldn't do it then and oh by the way I need to pay him $90.00. I said ""I need to pay you $90.00 just for you to tell me you can't do it?!?"" He said that it would be credited back towards the service if they came back out. He also gave me another option where it would be less and money paid today would be credited to that service also. I repeated back to him the amount he just said for the second option with the $90.00 as a credit. He then said they would credit only $45.00 for that option but he wasn't sure, he would have to call the office. He left to make the call from his truck....after about 4 or 5 minutes, he just drove off! What!!?? Ya just drove off...no goodbye, no ""there's no charge and call us if I want to go with either option."" Wow! The receptionist needs to learn the words...""I apologize for any inconvenience"" because unfortunately, the absolute unprofessional, bad customer service, started with her!
If your looking for any plumbing issues, keep looking past this company, regardless of their home page, which needs a spell check, just FYI.
