I called HERITAGE to come out and replace a Washer shutoff. They told me it would take an hour and would be $721! I asked for a parts/labor breakdown which they could not provide...Just that ridiculous price...The part is around $40 so even if they double it, that would mean that they charge $600 per hour? He said he could discount it down to $675....No thanks. Maybe they use a $500 14K gold valve....I can't see any other way the math makes sense. This was not an emergency call either.

Buckley brothers from Malden came out and had it done in 20 minutes and charged me a $225.....Prompt, professional, reasonable......They now have a happy customer who will tell others!

Luke did a great job fixing my dual temperature control on my tub. He also replaced a tub spout. I will definitely hire him to do additional work.

Buckley Brothers installed a new water heater tank in 2017. They were supposed to install it with a new tray, new pipes so that it did not leak again. They used nine years old pipes, connectors, and metal tray with holes. So water kept leaking again after they installed a new tank. What they charged was expensive. Paul asked me to pay more to keep fixing the water heater tank with new pipes. So I paid again to fix it. But it leaked again. Then, he asked me to fix something that I did not know much so that water did not leak again. So I did, then, it leaked again. In addition, after they changed the pipe and installed a pressure tank or something, water leaked from a bathtub faucet. So I reported this to Paul and he asked me to pay again to adjust the pressure. They created problems, then asked more payment to fix those problems... Every year, water leaked. I was extremely frustrated. In this May, it leaked again. As they still did keep the old metal tray with holes, floor was full of water when the tank leaked. When I called for fixing, Paul asked a few thousands dollars to fix it. Extremely poor job, not professional, expensive, creating water problems from tank, faucet..
I decided not to work with him and moved on to a different company. This company did an excellent job. Very responsible, knows what they are doing and not that expensive. In addition, water taste and feeling are much better after their job. When Buckley Brothers installed the tank, the water taste and feeling were changed and I was very concerned.

I had heard about this place from a friend. Then I looked on yelp. I had made a call last night (Monday evening). A guy called me back me back early this morning (Tuesday morning). He said he would be out this afternoon. And it's after 630. Now I have to try to see if I can find another plumber. My day was wasted.

Woke up on a Monday morning to find my toilet overflowing. I haven't had a plumber for years and of course they're retired now. I came to work and asked around if anyone knew of a good and trustworthy plumber. A gentleman that I work with recommended Buckley Brothers, he has known the owner Paul for years. I gave them a call, told my situation and within a short amount of time they sent someone over. Fixed the problem in record time and the price was right. Nice to know that there are people willing to help others in time of need.

I found Buckley Brothers of Malden on the Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors (PHCC) Web site. My brother-in-law from Minnesota is a member, and he suggested that most members of that association would be high quality, professional, and reliable. Those words describe Paul and Chris Buckley of Buckley Brothers Plumbing of Malden quite well.

It's a busy season, and it was very difficult to get plumbers to return calls, even plumbers I had hired in the past. Some I called made an appointment to have a look at the job (replace a burst pipe from the outside of the house) but did not show up at the appointed time.

Paul (owner) came promptly to evaluate the job and, when I expressed my concern of having the work done before an imminent insulation and siding project, worked to squeeze me in on the next business day.

Chris Buckley arrived promptly (early, even) and was happy to discuss my concerns. At first I had wanted to avoid using a copper pipe, because it has no tolerance for freezing, whereas PEX has a little give (not necessarily enough). He explained that he could insulate the pipe more effectively if using copper, and I agreed. I also noticed that a support he installed for the fixture protruded from the wall joists, and that would make replacing the sheathing difficult. When I pointed that out, Chris worked to fix it immediately with no complaint.

The bill was just under the ballpark estimate Paul gave me. Professional.

Worth a mention: the plumber's apprentice, Nick. A SMART young man who was always thinking ahead about the job, providing assistance when it was needed without being asked, because he knew what was coming. He also paid attention to details (cleaning the pipes before soldering) and was systematic about examining every part before it was used. It says something about the company that they hired a smart young guy to work for them.

I will use them for future work (we have a bathroom renovation project coming up) and recommend them to others without hesitation.

Note that there are two one-star reviews from people who rate them based on a telephone experience. I reserve one star for a plumber whose work blows up. Sometimes a one star review says more about the reviewer than it does about the service provider.

I looked up the weather for the dates around the first review here, where Paul said he was too busy to help. It was a run of several days of 2F temperature. No doubt all plumbers were busy fixing burst pipes or restoring heat.

Meanwhile, the two reviews for completed work are both five star reviews.

Had a plumbling leak in the basement. Buckley Brothers were prompt in answering/responding to my initial and follow up calls; arrived early for the repair. Guys were polite and explained their findings and what they were repairing as they went. Great service all around.

I've used Buckley Bros several times for a variety of emergency issues: Water heaters, leaking shower, drain snaking. They are reasonably responsive, more so in emergency situations. Price-wise I'm sure there are cheaper options, but they service has been consistent and I've never had any issue with the quality of their work. They definitely do things the right way.

Terrible customer service. Once they have your money, see you later. I hired them to fix a leaking living room ceiling. They found and stopped a minor, benign leak that was not the cause of any problem. We paid over $300 for an hour of service and problem still exists. When I first contacted them to let them know the ceiling was still leaking, instead of coming back to finish the job I'd hired and paid them to do, they offered me a couple of ideas of why the ceiling still might be leaking (does heavy rainfall cause it to leak more, for example). When I was able to determine that neither of their theories was the cause of the leak, I called and left a message with their answering service. I haven't heard from them since. Stay away. And don't believe the rating on the Better Business Bureau who they pay an annual accreditation fee to. BBB generally sides with the business for this reason even though they claim to be a consumer advocate. Consumers pay them nothing.
