Recommended Customer Reviews

I arrived home on a Friday afternoon in late June to find the AC in my house had gone out and the temperature had risen to 87 degrees. My dog was struggling and I was hopeless after calling at least 12 other companies-- none of who could get to me for another few days. Lucky for me I got a hold of Steve and he was working about 1 mile from my house and was able to squeeze me in. Within an hour Craig and Steve had me up and running with cold air pumping...they were also able to give me good options to replace my unit-- but I didn't feel pressured. Really pleased with their service.

Just wanted to chime in here with my experience with Steve. I had a really bad experience similar to others on here. So Steve gets his customers by being quick to respond. I was on the fence using him because I saw some negative reviews on here. Should have gone with my gut. But he was quick to come out and I thought maybe this guy just had some growing pains in his business. What I can conclude is 1.) He hires people who are not licensed when he claims they are, at least when it comes to plumbing. 2.) Like others, you might get lucky and he might have a guy that knows enough to get the job done. However, if you are one of the unlucky ones prepare for disaster. 3.) Expect his prices, at least with plumbing, to be about 30% higher than a big name company in plumbing. He also will quote a price and then change it after the work is done by not just a few dollars but 15% or more than the already inflated 30%. In may case, I am skilled and know what work and labor are and knew I was being gouged already, so I kept him to his original quote. 4.) If you have a problem with Steve, yes he is responsive, but no he doesn't take responsibility for the shotty work his people do. Or at least isn't that sympathetic. He is very defensive. 5.) He only gives three months warranty on his work where most plumbing companies give a 1 year warranty. So to my experience, I had him come out and repair a ceiling leak. Wasn't too bad but had a feeling it was something easy to fix. Turns out one if his guys opened our ceiling and the builder had not capped a drain that should have been capped. Okay, no big deal. The problem is the job wasn't done correctly and after he left I had an enormous leak. The guy who did the work didn't even turn the water on to test. Because when I did a few days later in our guest bathroom, we had a nightmare of leaks with water running down our ceiling joists. Terrible terrible Terrible experience. I had already had the ceiling repaired from the leak so not only did I have a leak 5 times worse than what started but I had already repaired my beautiful ceiling. Steve was responsive. When I wasn't happy knowing that this had been shotty work done he kept saying we do the best we can don't be upset yada yahda The appropriate response for any business owner that is competent should have I am so sorry for what you have gone through, This is terrible I feel very bad this has happened we will be right out to repair not only the issue but the ceiling too. It will be done correctly and I will over see it's done right. YOU WILL NOT GET THIS RESPONSE WITH STEVE. ONCE HE HAS YOUR MONEY, YOU ARE SCREWED!!! So Steve did come out. We opened the ceiling and low and behold shotty work was done. My drain line was cut and left open and it was spilling sewage into my ceiling from the guest bathroom upstairs. After much pushing, Steve agreed to fix the damage to my ceiling. He said his new guy had experience doing this and they could get it all right. With Steve it's all lies with him. They don't know what they are doing when it comes to plumbing or sheetrock work. I had to get the repair professional done. 4 weeks later, I came home to a my ceiling leaking again after the 2nd repair. I am attaching the picture of the repair. Now you will see an arrow in red. This is what was discovered by my new plumber. No purple meaning they didn't even glue one side of the elbow they used and dry installed this. Sickening work from this guys. The other side does have purple so this is what you will get half ass work from them if you are that one 3 customers he services. Who knows if the other work he does even holds for other customers for more a year. Wouldn't be surprised if others who have written positive reviews have problems later. I texted Steve letting him know his second repair did not work and four weeks later I now have a huge mess leak in my house. He never texted back, no warranty no response no refund. I reached out to Greenlee Plumbing and have had excellent service. I am not staying Steve may not be licensed. I am not saying that things don't happen and sometimes contractors screw up. I am saying that a solid company with a warranty that fixes the damage they made worse and repairs anything that was damaged due to imperfect work, should be a no brainer for a business that is looking to have a good reputation in the industry. Even if you have to lose money for the mistake you made with a customer two or three times, you should be doing everything to try and resolve it and be very apologetic to the mess that made for the customer who in good faith, hired you believing you would provide great quality and service and have their back. Steve Malone is the owner of Buckhead Plumbing and does have other companies when I looked him up. I will be complaining on the BB and adding to any other reviews I can because this has cost me 15 plus hours of headaches out of my life and absolutely mess of money.

Completely unprofessional. AVOID. Steve commits to appointment and doesn't show up or call. Rental property has clogged drain pipe - called on Tuesday. Steve said he was booked Wednesday but could be there first thing Thursday morning (asks me to txt him the address - red flag here). I text him Wed. night to ask what time he plans to show. He txts back """"call you in the a.m."""". Thursday morning and no response. I call and he asks me to refresh his memory and then says that job is just too involved and he can put me on the schedule for next week. Meanwhile I have tenants who cannot use their kitchen sink for days b/c. Avoid Buckhead Plumbing - they are typical craigslist contractors.

Fraudulent company, scam, unlicensed and advertising as licensed. How has he gotten away with this? Obviously he is paying someone off. Misleading, so nice, promised to stand behind work. Gave quote for complete AC Installation of 5200. Well, due to his unlicensed subcontractors, he stated wiring issues from previous job. Then charged me another 250.00 or he wouldn't come fix my ductwork he tore during Installation process. He said they didn't do, really?? Who tears ductwork to spend extra money. Took 2 days to finish, and 2nd day subcontractor asked why unit replaced, I said compressor out and Steve said unit was shot. He said no it wasn't, i have known him to scam people that way. Still hasn't fixed ductwork, loud noisy air coming through vents, and dust and particles of flooring from attic blowing out them, water in pan under air handler, never had I seen water in it. He refuses to come fix it, and said its installed per codes and blowing cold air. Possibly leaking refrigerant in my house, outside unit making screeching noise when cuts on and off. I asked him to fix, because 1 yr labor warranty, he refused. Stated nothing wrong with it. He had intent to fraud me because he isn't licensed and gave estimate, and kept saying he thought I was single, after my boyfriend stepped in. Said I wS harassing him now cause I want it fixed correctly, and I was pi... ng him off. I am filing suit against him. Really don't understand how someone rips people off and police can't charge them..

Steve and Craig at Buckhead Plumbing and HVAC are life savers! We have 5 kids at home and our furnace stopped working last week when it got really cold out. Couldn't have happened before the warm spells we've gotten all winter! It got down to 58 degrees inside our house, and after calling a few other HVAC companies with no response (over two cold days) I got an email after midnight saying that Buckhead HVAC could be out early the next day. Craig showed up right on time and did a really thorough inspection to try to find a glimmer of hope to fix it, no such luck, our furnace was dead. Steve called to let me know that even if they could get the furnace back up and running that it was dangerous for my family and that it needed to be replaced. He was very nice about explaining my options and breaking down the cost. He didn't even hang up on me when I started crying about the unexpected cost! We scheduled a replacement and again Craig was out right on time the next day. It was a hard job getting the old unit out (it was 20+ years old) but he worked really hard and was super patient with my kids and dogs coming and going around him throughout the day. By the end of the day we had a new furnace, it was warm and toasty when my kids went to bed that night and the whole experience was so easy and pleasant. Steve and Craig were great to work with, friendly, professional and kind. I can't recommend Buckhead HVAC enough.

SCAMMER ALERT! Was charged $750 for 1.5 Lbs of freon. Service call is $79. Freon is $149 a pound. Total amount is $303 + tax. Steve-Owner refused to issue a credit for the $400 over charge. He offered to deduct the $400 if I bought a new HVAC system. They refuse to provide me with a receipt/invoice detailing the charges.

Called Steve and he sent out a guy to fix a leak the water company said I had. Guy shows up, tells my wife that the water pressure valve regulator was the the problem and replaced it for $375. I thought it was strange since there was no leaking inside the house where the valve was, but I wasn't there to talk to the guy so not much that I could do. The guy also mentioned to my wife something about the water heater, which wasn't that old and was working fine. I thought that was odd. About a month later, my water bill is still sky high. I look in the basement and my water heater, which had been fine, is now leaking. I look at the valve they installed, about 20 feet away, and it's still dry. I then look outside the house, and see water bubbling in the yard. I call up Steve and he said it would be 2 days until they can get there to look at the problem. Since I can't wait that long, I then look up some videos on YouTube and figured out I had an outside water line leak. I dig around the yard and find the source of the outside water leak. I turn off the water at the water meter and then buy some parts from Home Depot and order some other parts Amazon to fix the problem. Steve finally sends a guy out a couple of days later and they tell me they need to replace the entire line to the meter, about 200 feet away, for $4,350. That evening, the last parts I ordered arrive and I repair the leak. All the parts in total cost me less than $40. As for the hot water heater, I pumped up the pressure on the expansion tank so the leaking has now stopped (thanks again, YouTube!). So here are the reasons why I gave them 1 star: 1) They misdiagnosed the issue and replaced a pressure valve that I suspect was working. 2) I suspect they dialed up the pressure valve and messed with the expansion tank pressure so the hot water heater would start leaking. 3) An estimate for replacing an entire line when all I needed was a line patch. Again, the estimate was for $4,350; I fixed the problem myself for $40 in parts. 4) After notifying Steve that I no longer needed his services, he leaves me a very nasty voicemail. They are incompetent, dishonest, insanely overpriced, and rude. I will absolutely never use their services again.

The good: I called Steve on a Friday morning with an emergency - water was leaking from the kitchen sink through the floor into the room below. He had someone there within a couple of hours who diagnosed and fixed the leak. The not so good: As part of the fix, a hole had to be cut in the drywall ceiling of the room below the leak. As it needed to dry before it could be fixed, it required a return visit. I was told they could come back the following week to patch it up - this was not a problem. After a number of calls over two weeks without a commitment I hired someone else to do the work. And although patching the hole wasn't an emergency some basic follow-up would have been appreciated to know I was still on the radar. In summary, good job fixing the problem, not so good with the cleanup.

I gave Steve a call at around 9am because one of my toilets was not properly flushing and kept getting clogged. He gave me an estimate for each possible scenario on-the-fly, and I asked him to please proceed with whatever it takes. I texted him my name, address, and phone number after hanging up. Three hours later, I get a call from Steve telling me that everything is taken care of and working perfectly. I go home to test, and sure enough it's working again. I was expecting to wait at least a few days, but he had a guy that happened to live very close to me and they got it done before I could even grab lunch. Very impressed by the customer service, response time, and reasonable prices. Will be calling them again any time I have HVAC or plumbing issues.

I called Steve at 9 AM on a Saturday morning. By 3 PM that day, everything had been fixed and his price was more than reasonable. I would recommend Buckhead Plumbing & HVAC all day long and I will definitely be using Steve moving forward. Best customer service I have ever experienced.
