NEVER AGAIN! WORST COMPANY EVER!!!!
This saga starts in December of 2015. I decided to have my furnace cleaned by one of their technicians. He checked my furnace, and told me that he could fix all these leaks that were (supposedly) happening, or it would just be better to buy a new one. Granted, I knew that the furnace was old, and possibly needed replacing so it didn't surprise me. However, he oversold me on a furnace that was not needed for the size of my house. This information came from another technician from Bryant later on. Another technician came and installed the furnace, but he left two weeks in the middle of installing it! This was in December! Luckily, Louisville had one of its weird warm periods. Then he comes back, finishes the job, and within the hour the furnace turned off. I called them, and they had another technician come out. He checked it, and told me that my air conditioner was not compatible with my new furnace. He dismantled the air conditioner, and also leaked out any freon that was in the unit. I just found this out by having another technician from another company come and give me a quote, and he just discovered what happened. Also, he plugged in my air conditioner and said it works fine. So back to December, the Bryant technician gave me a quote of $10,000!!!!! for a new air conditioner!!!!! Ridiculous! Obviously, we can't afford that, and declined. We did not have an air conditioner at all for the year of 2016, and it was horrible! About four weeks after the furnace was installed we had my husband's cousin come over who is a contractor, and she noticed that the furnace did not have an inspection sticker on it. More importantly, she noticed that the gas pipe where the old furnace used to be was not capped off. She said, "" You need to get that capped off immediately. You could have carbon monoxide leaking into your basement."" Sure enough. I got a carbon monoxide detector, and the thing started going off. Maybe that could explain why my family was not feeling well, and my youngest kept complaining of headaches? I called Bryant again, complaining. They did have someone come out and cap it off, but honestly, I would not have known if it wasn't for a family member to notice it! Then I asked them about why I haven't had an inspection on my new furnace after four months it has been installed! ""You haven't had an inspection, yet?"", the receptionist said. Someone totally dropped the ball on that one. So the inspector comes out, and tells me he can't give me a sticker, because it has been installed improperly! I call Bryant again. They did come out and fix the problem, but not very well. I have a hole drilled in my basement wall with a copper pipe sticking out of it now. Again, they didn't cap off the pipe. I asked the technicians if they were going to set up the inspector coming out to inspect it again, and they assured me they would handle it. Months went by. I called Bryant again, asking about it , and the receptionist gives me the number of the inspector saying that I have to set it up. Worst. Service. Ever. I will never use them again!!!!! After the fact I have talked to friends, and acquaintances, and have heard that once they see a female without a male figure in the house they say to themselves ""chaching!"". They also have a horrible reputation of overselling, and telling others that they need to replace their unit when it is just a minor inexpensive fix. Their business practices are shady, dishonest, and sexist. I will never trust them again!!!!
Beav P.I don't know anything about HVAC. All I know is in the middle of winter when my furnace went out, 2 other companies wouldn't come to my house for 3 days and Bryant came out an hour after I called and replaced the needed part on that day as well.
It took 2 Bryant crews to install my furnace. And then it took an LG&E gas tech to fix their screw-up.
First crew tears out my old furnace and installs the new one. I tell the guy that I am smelling gas. He tells me not to worry, that was from one of the pipes they removed. He promises to double-check.
First crew leaves but says a second crew will have to return the following week to clean it up and finalize the installation.
Later that night I had to evacuate my family from the house because there is a gas leak from the work they did. The gas company tech finds and corrects their leak.
When I called Bryant, all I was told was ""sorry.""
The second crew came in and said they would have to totally redo the installation that the first crew did. Hopefully, I won't have to evacuate again.
NEVER, EVER, EVER AGAIN will I call Bryant.
I scheduled my appointment a week in advance. Like most companies they gave me a window of 3 hours to be home...3:00-6:00. I had plenty of other things to do w my time...at 5:45 they called to cancel as they didn't have time to make it out to my house. Needless to say, I didn't reschedule.
Brandee E.He did a amazing job, super friendly, and he got right to work. Finished in no time..
The AC unit went out @ my Mother's house while I was out of town on business. I had her call Bryant Heating & Cooling since they were the one's who last serviced it. Apparently there was one thing wrong but after further inspection, we were told the whole unit needed replacing. We had the whole unit replaced but i thought the price was fairly high for the lowest line of AC we were having installed. Unfortunately i was out of town and wasn't able to get comparable prices. After install, they did not even provide a new filter for the unit but rather used the filter from the old unit. Also, the unit is very loud compared to what we had prior - - I will be calling them back out to look into the noise issue. Stay tuned.. I may be leaving a follow-up review if my experience on followup is better.
Mike H.What an absolute JOKE!! Unfortunately I can't give them zero stars! My mother's AC went out and I wanted to take care of it for her. Called Friday night at 7:30 and they couldn't get anyone to me until the next morning. I was fine there. They recommended a full replacement and so I agreed. I waited 2 hours for the installation crew and then it took them 6 hrs to install. We left for dinner because we'd been stuck in the house all day waiting. When we returned it was 85 in the house, the install was bad. I called them to report the problem and they advised again that no one could come out until 9 am. When I asked ""what about the 24/7 service you advertise?"" I was told"" it's 11 pm and you're talking to me, that is our service"". REALLY??? You hosed the install, I spent 5k and that is your answer? So, they arrive again at 9 am this morning, Sunday 9/25, to tell me they made a mistake. Here I am now 5 1/2 hours later and they are still working on repairing what they didn't do right yesterday.
You have been warned
Rich U.Garbage. The guy came to my house to assess why my AC isn't working. Told me my AC was motor was shot without even turning it on. Then he said that the furnace was too old and he won't even get a motor to replace it. He said I would need a whole new unit for $6000. When he left I was able to get the AC running after a an hour. I then called Will from Air Services comfort Solution and he was able to get the AC working good as new.
Disappointing. Very impersonal and poor communication. Was told the unit would take 3 hours to replace and it took over 2 days over 9 hours. The installers said it always takes over 5 hours and on average 9 hours. The service rep knew this but wanted a sale right away. This is not a company to use if you work and have commitments. No one said thank you after spending lots of money on a unit. It was my choice to use them but wished I had gone to someone else.
Chris P.Will be seeing them in Small Claims court ASAP.
Called on Thursday for a leak from indoor HVAC unit (unit cooled home just fine, but was leaking water). After less than 10 minutes technician said ""bad coil, new one is $2450"" and also wrote ""drain not plugged."" I reluctantly agreed, assuming he knew what he was talking about, and on Friday coil unit was replaced. Friday evening exact same leaking. New Bryant technician out Saturday morning, said new coil also bad. Fourth set of techs out Saturday afternoon to install third evaporator coil unit. Saturday evening EXACT SAME LEAKING. Fifth tech out on Sunday, discovered problem all along was PVC drain pipe was clogged and cracked! Sixth set of techs out on Monday to unclog/replace PVC drain, PROBLEM SOLVED.
Contacted Bryant, discussed that the coil unit was misdiagnosed and was obviously NEVER the problem (as three coil units had ZERO impact on the leaking) and the clogged drain pipe (missed by the Thursday tech who wrote ""drain not plugged"") obviously WAS the problem causing the leak the whole time, and that I had paid $2450 for the wrong diagnosis for a part I never needed.
Even though had this been correctly diagnosed on Thursday it would have been a $200 PVC pipe repair, I offered to settle this for their purchase cost of the replacement coil I never needed, about $800 (I recognize I have a new coil even if I never needed it, and this way, the only expense Bryant would be out of is their labor). The response from Derek Kean (over their techs I guess) to my offer was ""technicians make mistakes"" and ""I'm sorry that happened"" and to refund $500 of the $2450 I paid for what should have been a $200 repair. And he stood on the fact that my original coil had since been disposed of by them (conveniently efficient for a weekend) so ""we'll never know"" if the first coil was really bad, despite two subsequent new coils having NO impact on the problem.
Which is why I will be filing a Complaint in Small Claims Court this week and contacting the Consumer Protection Division of the Kentucky Attorney General's Office.
UPDATE 8/11/16
After posting this review, and filing a complaint with the BBB, I emailed several people at Bryant including the owner and president with a copy of my review and indication that court was next. The next morning I received a call from their Vice President (the owner's son I believe) with an offer to settle for a 50% refund. While it is unfortunate it took such steps to get Bryant to accept any responsibility in this matter, a 50% refund of the original $2450 bill was only $400 off of what I had offered originally, so I accepted his offer. I will not be pursuing Small Claims court, but this review of my experience with Bryant (as well as my complaint with the BBB) will stay as a warning to others. I suggest you read up on them on BBB's site, and if you read the many reviews like this one and still choose to do business with Bryant then you do so at your own risk.
