Miserable experience getting an estimate for plumber to repair my slow drain. Even though they know exactly what their fees are, every plumber I contacted through Google, Yelp and Angie's list refused to divulge their prices over the phone. Obviously upselling is a very important part of the plumbing racket these days and they can't sell it to you if they can't get their foot in the door. The thinking is that since you took a day off work to meet them you'll be more receptive to the inflated prices they charge that they're afraid (with good reason) to declare over the phone.

Finally I noticed a recommendation for Mr Bruce on a Facebook group for Allen Texas and gave him a call. If he's busy with a job you'll get his machine and he won't call you back until he's finished with it. He doesn't use an answering service because they can't answer any questions his customers have and they don't know what questions to ask of them. He called me back within an hour, asked a few questions and then told me exactly what my problem was and how much it would cost to clear my drain. He told me he would arrive between 1 and 3 and he was there at 1:30.

He's a very charming, funny guy who enjoys his work greatly. He was a genuine pleasure to meet and do business with. He fixed my problem in two drains in about an hour. It was exactly what he said it would be.

It's too bad all plumbers can't be like Mr Bruce

If you've got a clogged drain Bruce is your man he's prompt, reasonably priced and an incredible drain unplugger!!

I have been in this house for 12 years and recently had trouble with the toilet in the master bathroom; it was taking too long to flush and looked like it was about to overflow. I had used Bruce's many years ago in a different house and been very satisfied, but I was afraid he was no longer in business. Fortunately, I still had his old business card and he was still in business, and he came out the next day and took care of my problem. This is not exactly a pleasant job but I'm grateful that he still does it, and his fee is reasonable. I was glad I was able to use him instead of a plumber, which might have been more expensive.

I have now used Darrell Bruce twice for clogs in our drains. The first time in July when we purchased the house and found both the kitchen and master were clogged. Our remodeling contractor called him and he came out same day. Reasonably priced and fixed both problems in an hour. I should have rated him then but forgot. Then during our Christmas Day party we had another stoppage in two bathrooms. I called to leave a msg and he picked up. He came over early the next morning and found the issue way under our house.

I highly recommend him because he only cleans out drains. I even have a home warranty too but he's about the same price, comes out much quicker and doesn't try to upsell me on other plumbing repairs.

Darrell came within 30 minutes of me calling. He's a drain unclogger, not a plumber but that's what I needed. I had been told by several plumbers who came to look at my clogged tub drain that someone would have to go on the roof to fix it and that our home warranty didn't cover that. Darrell showed me that they could have done it without going on the roof. He took care of the problem in just a few minutes and didn't charge me much more than I would have paid someone to come out with my home warranty!
