We had a major sewer back up. Called on Solomon because they've done work for me before and I've always been pleased with them. Billy came out and attempted to fix it until we realized that the problem was too far out. They charged me nothing for the first call. I was given an estimate and it came in just under what my insurance company would pay. The job required tearing up the yard. The first day they were not able to fix it and the county had to come out. County said they could not do anything about it and to call the plumber back. They scheduled me for as quick as they could and spent another almost an entire day to get the job done! The entire team was so great! Thank you Billy, John and the digging crew!

I have used Solomon plumbing and heating for over 13 years. (My mother used them for years before that). Bruce the owner is one of the wisest and most honest plumbers in town. Danny has done excellent work for us. They are a high end company so their prices do reflect that. (A lot of people on yelp find there pricing high, I feel yes, they are not cheap, but they are a truly honest company and only do exactly what you need). They also do small tasks at no extra charge.

Ultimately they provide excellent work, and they stand behind it. Bruce has spent countless hours coaching me through plumbing issues, and solving many difficult problems, and does it with such patience and warmth. They are 100% honest and only recommend what is genuinely needed. (this can save a lot over the years). I am a grateful customer.

*****Update***** very late to posting this but someone ended up installing the toilet for $120. Just goes to show that the technician was taking advantage of the customer. Look elsewhere first before throwing your money down the drain!

I had an emergency situation where my neighbor below had a leak in her ceiling and my insurance company was beyond worthless. Marlene was very nice on the phone, and had Lenny come out the next day. It was an expensive job as the entire shower pan and plumbing below all needed to be replaced. Lenny was prompt, curious, knowledge, and fast.

I see some negative reviews about their prices, but you get what you paid for. Improperly installed units and shoddy quality materials and workmanship will cost a lot more in the long run. Solomon's did a wonderful job and I'll definitely trust them again.

My 13 yo water heater began leaking a small amount of water and needed to be replaced. I left my information on their website and was promptly called. They had a cancellation and had a tech in the area who arrived at my home in a very short period of time. I was quoted as requested and had a good interaction with the employee. It was very easy to work with them and I wish we could have done business.

The issue was the quote. I was replacing a 75 ga LP with a power vent. There was no addition work that needed to be done, it was not an emergency and would have been a very straightforward install / replacement.

The heater was $1,600 (retail), parts (on the high side) would total $100 and labor (again high side) could run about $500 (again, on the high side). So $2,200 (or somewhere in the general ballpark) seemed reasonable and fair to me. I was quoted, wait for it.....$4,937. They applied a few discounts and the actual price was going to be $4,444.

This quote is well beyond reasonable and was nothing more than an attempt to gouge and swindle me. When I asked for the justification on the quote none could be provided.

Sad. Hopefully this was an isolated event.

****UPDATE: after leaving this review the plumbing company ""challenged"" my review saying that I was not a customer and that the review was not valid. I followed the process to validate my review (emailed a copy of the quote that was the subject of my review) and the review was allowed to remain and was validated as true and accurate.

Did a good job replacing part of a kitchen drain line to a main sewer line, but it was kind of expensive and I was pretty skeptical whether it should have cost that much, but had little information to compare it to. Then they did a whole house inspection and recommended I replace my hot water tank with a 50 gallon gas tank for more than $2000, which is double what it should cost based on common knowledge. Makes me wonder how much I got ripped off on the work I had done...

I called on a Saturday (day) because I had an emergency water leak. The woman on the phone told me someone would be calling right away. No one called and Bruce left me hanging all weekend with NO WATER. They called on Monday morning to see if I wanted to them to come out. I said NO. I've been a long time customer and I will never use them again. If you're in a bind, call someone else!

Same story here... I was way over charged. $500.00 for a replacement garbage disposal with installation. Shame on me for accepting their service. I could have purchased the same disposal with installation from Amazon for 230.00. I paid double. Lesson learned. I will never use them again.

Garbage disposal = 80.00
Installation (took 45 minutes) = 420.00

What was I thinking, sigh!

I waited all day (Thursday) for 12-4p appointment that was scheduled four days ago on Monday to fix my broken AC. After 4p came and went I called. They had no record of the appointment and only offered to start the whole scheduling process over and wait a few more days with no AC. No offer to come out tonight to make it right, no offer for a discount or their mistake - just ""sorry"". Told them they just lost a customer. Only response was ""You've only used us twice before."" No loss to them.

I've used Bruce Solomon Plumbing for over 20 years. That is until recently. They were never the least expensive, but mindful of the adage you get what you pay for I was willing to pay a bit more to get things right. Unfortunately I'm not willing to pay to get ripped off. Perhaps Bruce is less involved these days and isn't fully aware of what is happening, but that is no excuse for unscrupulous behavior.

We have a preventative maintenance contract with Bruce Solomon, the intent of which is to ensure that our HVAC equipment remains in working order. Within a day of our most recent visit, our AC system began having issues and within a week it all but stopped working. A bit of a suspicious coincidence made worse by the surprisingly prescient mafia like observation the technician made during his last call saying no repairs are recommended ""if a problem should happen to come around"". Having lost all trust in Bruce Solomon Plumbing I called in another vendor who inspected the system and reported that it had no coolant in it all despite being reported to be in perfect working order just days before. I was also advised that my system had ""dye"" in the compressor indicating that someone was looking for a leak, which was equally strange as this was not reported to me and was not reflected on the report Bruce's tech left behind.

For those of you who believe in giving someone the benefit of the doubt, believe me, I do as well, but this is not Solomon's first strike. A short while back we had to replace our water heater and in doing so the technician ""harvested"" several dozen feet of copper piping from my system replacing it with PVC. That copper is worth quite a bit and at no time was I asked to give permission nor was the value credited back against my bill.

Bottom line, if trust is important to you in your plumber, be advised you may want to look elsewhere.
