Carl A.I'm a DIY'r who really takes pride in whatever I can fix myself, but after several tries and quite a few Youtube Videos I had to throw in the towel. You know the story, heat goes out on the coldest night of the year. I had a hard time getting anyone to the house and then I called Brown's. Glad I did. They dispatched a repairman right away and he arrived on time. Joe G., a real no nonsense straight shooter, got down to it and took care of the problem. He went the extra mile too. Goodbye space heaters, we are back in business.
Faith B.On Dec 28th, my landlord/roommate's furnace was looked at by NJNG, she had her yearly maintenance scheduled with them, and the tech told her that her furnace(we live in a mobile home...) was dangerous as the heater exchange was cracked, and he redflagged it..so we were without heat. My landlord decided to contact her warranty company, they sent out the most obnoxious guy who said NJNG did not know what they were talking about and he claimed he fixed it. Two days later the furnace rattled, whistled and popped. So again our heat had to be turned off. Then the warranty co had these two guys who didn't speak English, did not know where to look for the problem, and promptly said, ""no good"".I, in frustration went on my FB page, saw Brown's Heating, Cooling and Plumbing and wrote them explaining the situation.
That SAME day, I got a response from Doug Brown who put me in touch with Paul Keator, who then came over THAT afternoon, and looked at it and agreed with NJNG....he told us we could have a new furnace in 2 days, which as of today has come true. Their quote and cost was even $1000 less than NJNG's quote. The techs came at 9am this morning, they were professional, courteous and very knowledgeable. Thank you to Doug for replying to my cry for help and for Paul and his help, and to the techs who came out today.....you all are great and you deserve an A+ rating.
Had their plumber come over to check on the wax seal of our toilet bowl. Work performed involved removing toilet, replacing wax ring, resecuring existing flange, and reinstalling toilet. Time spent about 2 hours. Parts required were a new wax ring and a few bolts (very negligible material costs). Charge was $734.59, which I paid. Everyone I mentioned this to afterwards told me the charge was excessive. Contacted General Manager Doug Brown to ask if there was a mistake and never got a reply. Then I contacted The firm's President Carolyn Brown who likewise did not extend the courtesy of a reply. Very unprofessional! All I can conclude is that I got ripped off.
Danelle S.Is it possible to give zero stars?
Totally rude, unprofessional humans working here.
Do yourself a favor and call any plumber but them.
They never showed up for my appointment!!!
Leonardo R.Unfortunately, I was given your number by Middletown Plumbing Supply in Tinton Falls as a reference for doing good and fair work in our Immediate area (Lincroft). I did call on 3-8-2018 (Thursday) at @ 2:30 pm as I needed urgent help with a sump pump issue. Your dispatcher said there was no one available till around 7:00 pm. I said OK and I also was agreeable to the charge of $160.00 for the call and additional charges for replacing the sump pump in the pit with a brand new one which I had already purchased. There was nothing mentioned between your dispatcher and I about overtime rates. I assumed I'm already paying the rate just for coming and that the other charge for installation would not be greater then $200 or even slightly higher than that. WAS I WRONG? I already had the pump. All it required was to remove the old pump and replace it. I was hesitant in doing it myself because of the secondary backup water based pump attached separately. Since I'm no plumber myself I felt more comfortable with a professional doing it. After going back to the truck for 10 minutes, the serviceman informed me that your charges would be $634.00 for doing the work at the time which was 5:00 pm on top of the $170.60, which I feel is OUTRAGEOUS! Then your serviceman gave me option 2 of $436.00 on top of the $170.60 for performing the work the day after. Charging me so much more for work done after 5 calling it overtime or some such nonsense is ridiculous. I did not call him in the middle of the night. Therefore. my total cost would have been $805 and change for having the work done immediately versus $600 and change having it done the next day. I don't know how competent your serviceman is but this is a 1 hour job tops if done by a professional. Your charges defy any comprehension by anyone standards.
We have our heating and cooling system serviced by Brown's Heating and Cooling since we bought our house in 1995. We are very satisfied with their service and the staff is very friendly and explains everything that we needed to know about our systems. THEY DO NOT TRY TO SELL YOU SOMETHING THAT YOU DO NOT NEED! They are very honest and trusting!!!
Very professional staff, trustworthy and polite, they care about their clients, will go out of their way to help, been a client for over 20 years, they just keep getting better!
The service was very good and the staff was friendly but i thought it was a bit expensive so i asked around and everyone agreed it seemed very high. This week i had a similar issue (running toilet) in a different bathroom and i called in another local plumbing company and what i was charged $349 in August from Brown's cost me $149 from another plumbing company and he noted his 1 year guarantee. While I don't have any complaints about the service I see no need to pay more than double other plumbing companies.
Susan M.It was going on midnight last week when I called Brown's for a shower that wouldn't turn off. I spoke with their answering service and they said someone would return the call within 15 minutes. Ten minutes later, Brown's on-call plumber Brian phoned and said he'd be there in 7 minutes. He was there in 7 minutes, fixed it and left at 2 am. Time and again, they are as good as their word.
Linda H.Update: owner Ray contacted me after my initial review and told me that Brown's no longer charges for estimates. He said that he is having issues with his front office staff and he apologized for the incorrect information. He offered to come out and do a free estimate and I've decided to take him up on his offer.
