Michele C.I can't tell you how absolutely appalled I am. First of all I have a fairly new service contract with brothers for hvac. It's suppose to come with an all points plumbing inspection although it hasn't so far. I called with a plumbing issue which in my opinion was minor. I fixed my toilet and just couldn't get from the tank up back together right so it was leaking. I had all the parts. For someone who knows what they are doing 30-40 minutes labor. The plumber from brothers, Mario, quotes me $495 minus $100 for having a contract so $395. All I need is 30-40 min labor. I mean, I just couldn't even believe it $395! I told him how disturbing this was and he said well if you call Home Depot and tell them you have a plumbing job and give them your contact info they contract with us so we will come out and do the work but at Home Depot's contracted rate. Sure as shit while he was here I called Home Depot and I get a call from brothers """"calling on behalf of Home Depot"""" 10 min later. The woman over the phone quotes me under $150. Same company! The part that bugs me is that I AM your existing customer and you are making me play games to get treated right. I told him I needed to speak with his boss because if he can't do something better the rest of my afternoon would be writing reviews on google and yelp and then canceling my hvac contract. Squeaky wheel and toilet was fixed for $125 plus tax. Indeed it did take him 32 minutes. Granted he gibby gabbed for another 20 but the actual labor 32 min. Despite them doing the job for a reasonable rate (because I made a stink) I will no longer use this company. I shouldn't have to jump through hoops to be treated right! I have posted a photo of their cost sheet for your review. Needless to say hvac contract will be cancelled and I have found another plumber for future needs who said he would have charged $142 for the job but I wouldn't have to negotiate, speak with a manager and jump through hoops to get that price. BROTHERS - I CANT BELIVE YOU HAVE STAYED IN BUSINESS FOR 30 YEARS TREATING CUSTOMERS LIKE THIS! SHAME ON YOU! P.s. scroll down to the bottom of the yelp reviews and see the other 90 that aren't included in their rating. All 1 stars saying highway robbery without a gun.
One star is way too generous for this company, but there's no zero-star option... Long story short, this company is taking three days to install a water heater, and they have been significantly late every time they've come by. The job should have been started and completed two days ago, but they showed up late in the evening (only after I called because they missed their scheduled time) because my appointment somehow """"fell through the cracks"""" and then they didn't bring all of the parts to complete the job. The technician told me he would be back the following evening to complete the job. He never called or showed up the next day. I called today (now the third day) and they said the technician would be out between 1-2 pm to get the job finished. At 3 pm (an hour late) the technician called and said he would be here in one hour. It's now 5:30 and he's not here. I just called their office and they tell me the technician will be here within an hour from now. Come on! Talk about deja f*$% you. In addition to this, they're very costly, charging $1,335 for the hot water install. When I originally called for a quote, they said they had to send someone out in person to do that. When the guy showed up the next day, he looked at my old water heater for about 5 seconds and then wrote me up a quote. The infuriating thing is that he simply opened a binder with a generic amount listed in it for an installation for someone who has already purchased the new water heater (like we had). So this means they were going to charge me this generic amount all along and they just go through the song and dance of """"having to do it in person"""" so that they can get a salesman in your home. Gross. I felt so dirty after this estimate visit I wanted to take a hot shower...but I couldn't because my water heater was broken. Bottom line, I don't recommend this company to anyone and I told their plumbing manager as much. I don't say this for the sake of being self-righteously irate, either. My entire experience from start to not-even-finished-at-this-point has been absolutely poor. They don't care about their customers and they just want your money. Stay away from Brothers unless your life depends on it, and even in that case, you should probably just still stay away. Just the worst.
Emily S.Had to call for a third time to try and get someone to come fix my air conditioning. First tech came on Saturday and fully admitted the wiring that was done when they installed the new AC unit was """"shotty at best"""" and he refused to fix it. It was installed 3 years ago and it was a higher end Rheam AC unit. He told me what was wrong and after a while the cost, but refused to actually fix the problem. He first said to me he didn't have the part and then to my father that the wiring needed a """"professional"""". I had throat surgery the day before and was visibly in pain. However, he told me the problem was I did not inspect the system myself when it was installed 3 years ago. I mentioned how when our other until was installed last year (by a different company) someone came to inspect the wiring. He made a comment to the effect that it was not done with their system and again, it was my fault for not going in the attic and knowing electrical. He said someone would come on Monday to look at the system. He had to turn off breakers to my attic due to the """"fire hazard"""". He charged me $95 and said basically good luck. No one came on Monday I but received a Facebook message that a supervisor would call. I explained I had throat surgery and talking is painful/difficult. No one called. I called again today to be told someone would come out and try to fix it but I would most likely be charged again. I asked why when the first guy refused to fix it, dispatcher said it was up to the tech to charge me. Again, the problem they said was that their faulty wiring job caused the problem, but after a year they are off the hook for it. The fact their actions caused the machine parts to break is irrelevant. The fact that I now have a fire hazard in my attic is up to a supervisor to determine if they """"can work with me"""" to find a resolution. Have already filed claim with BBB because the first tech stated it was their wiring installation that caused this problem, refused to fix it or address the fire concern and left, still charging me for a service call. He also left a heavy ladder in the middle of my floor and pieces of Fiberglass all over my hallway where my toddlers could get to it. My recent surgery was an """"issue"""" for him because I had difficulty speaking. He said """"maybe when my husband got home, he could handle this properly."""" He also said I """"probably want a professional to look at the furnace"""" they installed as well. However, if chose to buy a cheaper thermostat than the $330 one he said I had to use, my parts warranty would be void. If I did call another company to inspect their work, the parts warranty would be void. I said I was told my warranty that I paid extra for covered everything and he said """"no, it usually never covers the labor more than a year"""". So they charged me additionally for the warranty that already came with the unit from the manufacturer. I cannot believe this how a company would treat a young family who clearly just needed their AC fixed. Will definitely continue to escalate this problem because I can't imagine I am the first person this is happening to.
On April 9th bought Rheem hot water heater from Home Depot, picked up myself, called Home Depot about their installation provider, they referred ARS Brothers in Rock Hill, SC, called to get an estimate as to the charge, I was told by the person who called it would be $1,410(that's right one thousand four hundred and ten dollars) to replace the old one with the new one. I declined, Maybe the home office of Home Depot needs to know about this, they need to find some other installers.
Karen M.I'm unhappy I have to give one star. My neighbor used this company to clean their air conditioner and the technician seemed to do a great job so I set up an appointment for him to do mine as well. I was told the technician would arrive between 12 and 1:00. I watch my baby grandson, his nap time is between 12 and 3, and his bedroom is next to the air conditioning unit where the technician would be working. Therefore, my son took a half day off work, lost pay, so that I could be here when the technician arrived and the baby could sleep in his home without being wakened. At noon I was on the phone when I received a call from Brothers, within 5 minutes I returned their call, but the dispatcher sent the technician onto another call and skipped me and my scheduled appointment, but they promised I'd be next in line. At 2:00 I called again to check to see where the technician was, and I was told I'd be called very shorty - very, very shortly. At 4:30 I received a text saying the technician was on his way. No technician arrived. At 5:45 I called again to find out where the technician was. I was told I had to reschedule for the next day. No, I don't think I want another wasted day, as I would have to cancel more appointments already in place only to have a no show technician a second day. I have asked for a manager to call me. However after reading these reviews my no show technician may have been a blessing in disguise. I think I will just go elsewhere. I see other similar reviews, therefore I would not recommend this company to anyone.
We used them to service our 8 year HVAC that seemed to have multiple problems. Then had them install a new AC. I have had nothing but trouble with it. Had them out here 3 times in 3 months with issues. Service would take multiple days to solve a single problem, then a couple of months later there was a new problem that would take multiple days. Premier service was a waste. You are not really important to them even if the recently installed equipment isn't working (on multiple occasions). We took many days off from work and waited many hours for service on BRAND NEW EQUIPMENT. SAD, so Sad. Definitely consider another company. Addendum: 6 months after install of AC and a regular seasonal maintenance check and I was told they recommended the following: 'furnace and heat pump surge protection$570 to protect advanced electronics ..., hard start phase shifter to extend service life of the compressor and motor and starting components$241...A/C perform system/ compressor oil. $226.' All this suggested on a brand new AC??? Unbelievable! We declined and will find another company to look after our new AC for seasonal maintenance and to verify workmanship of this company before it is out of warranty.
I used Brothers to install a comfortable height toilet. Total installation price was a bit pricey, however, the service Bryant provided was timely, friendly, and professional. Would use their service again.
Cindy F.My mother used them for a problem with her toilets backing up. She said that they were late and felt overcharged (she didn't ask my cousin who owns a plumbing company in Florida( what she should have paid until after the job was finished. Anyway, she said that they did a good job and would use again but at a better price.
i called Brothers after my vented gas water heater went out at 3pm. They responded that they would not be able to check it out until 9am the next morning. Not too big a deal as I have 2 water heaters in my house. Once the tech showed up he told me before even looking at the unit that it needed to be replaced as it was 10 years old. n I told him that i thought that the tank was good but that the electronic igniter switch appeared to not be working, He said that he was going to his truck to make a few calls to see what could be done. Once he returned after 10 minutes, he said that they could not get parts for this model of Rheem water heater and that they do not repair this Brand even though they are listed on Rheems website. Keep in mind that the tech never even removed the cover off the switch or anything before he gave me a quote for replacement for $3200 and then also tried to sell me a tankless water heater system for $5400!! I had already looked online and found the same model I had for around $1200. RIDICULOUS!! The same morning I called a local plumber in Indian Trail and within an hour they were 2 techs standing in my garage with the cover off telling me that the tank was indeed good and it appeared to be the electronic ignition. The made one phone call and then cleaned out the switch box and the heater fired right up! It had timed out from trying to start due to debris buildup around the switch. They showed me that a flashing light on the igniter box indicates a code as to the problem it is experiencing. UNBELIEVABLE! Total cost for repair was $125. Which I was glad to pay! As a follow up, i called check and found out that the part, if needed is still available!! Do not call Brothers for ANY repair all they are interested in doing is selling you new equipment and a service contract!!!
Our hot water heater went out after 21 years of wonderful service. We decided to purchase the same kind and Brothers heating and air came out for a free estimate. After Steven came in and accessed that we needed a new hot water heater he gave us a quote of 2020.00. Ok, what are we paying 2000.00 dollars for??? We have already bought the water heater. Steven insisted on knowing how much we paid for the hot water heater, WHY???? So after he learns how much we paid the price to install becomes 1500.00. Now how does a 400.00 water heater cost more than 3 times its worth to put in. REALLY!!!!! Needless to say we should have had our hands in the air for being robbed. We did call a local plumber who will be installing our hot water heater for 300.00. May not be the same day but next day is fine for a 1200.00 savings. Please get a second opinion, This was just robbery without a gun. Absolutely disgusted with greedy americans.
