I have always heard they were good. Upon advice of a Realtor I called them for a client who is in their finals hours of life in the hospital .

They were to call before they came. I waited in an empty house for the 2 hour window they gave. No call came. They showed up as I was driving away after 2 hours and 15 minutes. They never called. They replaced a washing machine faucet. The part was $29.00. 2 screws out and 2 screws back in. They didn't bother to replace the existing washers under the screws. It took exactly 7 minutes which included the time to go back to the truck and write the invoice. $144.89. That included a 10% discount!! I said but it only took 7 minutes. He said, "yes I know".

I will never let my clients be taken advantage of like this again.

I have happily used this company for years. I had a leak on a component of my water heater in my garage, and wanted to have a dripping faucet repaired. A plumber and his helper showed up and got to work. They didn't have the parts they needed (even though I explained the problem on the phone), so the helper went back to the shop and the plumber puttered around my house asking if there were other Jobs to be done. He took apart two faucets and when the helper came back they went back to work. One of the faucets needed parts ordered (which they later wanted to charge an extra $150 to come back and repair), the other he 'fixed' but it functions worse than it did before. The water heater component was fixed.

I felt like it was taking a long time, but since I had been using them for years I wasn't concerned about the fairness of the price. It had never been a problem before. The plumber and his helper spent a lot of time joking around, a lot of time trying to fix air in the lines (which I ended up having to do on my own later), and at least 25 minutes in their truck writing up my bill.

The bill came to $730! This included 2 1/2 hours of plumber time (not used efficiently, almost 20% of this time in the truck writing the bill), the parts needed, and $75 for some kind of mystery tool that was needed for the upgraded materials used to repair to my water heater which I wasn't asked about and I certainly didn't approve.

I called the office to straighten out the charge, and the owner said she would ask her workers about the time wasted. She never called back. I finally called again and the office administrator said that the owner decided there was no discussion and I had to pay the price in full.

I do not recommend this company! If you have to use them, make sure you get a price quote before they step foot in your home.

Brittain Plumbing installed two new shower mixers at my house a few years ago, but within 6 months the mixer no longer functioned. The owner came out and replaced a part, charging us $175. The new mixer component soon also failed with the same problem. Earlier this month we called to have them come out and look at the mixer, plus our hot water heater which kept turning off. The owner of the company, same guy who came out last time. Immediately began saying what a piece of crap our 5 years old water hear was, how he couldn't really help, I'd have to contact the manufacturer for a part. Same story on the mixer valve, which he previously replaced. Now it was my responsibility to contact the manufacturer and get the replacement part. He was there for a grand total of 15 minutes and did absolutely nothing to alleviate my issues. Now two weeks later they send me a bill for $140. And for what?? Absolutely nothing. I have used this company for more than 15 years, and recommended them to others. But after this I will never ever use them again ,and I am letting all of my neighbors, friends and children living in the area know about my experience. They used to be good, they've deteriorated dramatically and will no longer receive my business as a result. This will be the last $140 you ever get from me.

We bought a 100 year old house in Historic Georgetown and took it down to the studs. The plumber (not Brittain) we hired for the job did not do their job properly. We eventually hired Brittain to fix the problems the other plumber neglected. Brittain also installed our appliances, because it was too much of a liability for the other company. Brittain Plumbing associates are pleasant, on time, and provide information about the issue. We should have hired them from the start.

I had them out to repair a drain leak and a faucet leak. Need to order a new drain. They replaced the guts of faucet which was fixed but sprayer was worse now with continuous leak. He then said it would probably be cheaper to get a new one, Which I told him I would have by the end of the day. He said the drain would take about two days, which would be Wednesday. Never heard from them and so I called them on Friday to ask if they could come out to finish the job. She told me we can't so that you will have to wait until next week. Meanwhile all weekend the sprayer was leaking water and the right side of my sink was not useable. Them came Monday. I received a bill and noticed I am being charge twice for them to drive ten minutes. When you have someone come out and they can't fix it the first time Brittain will charge you $100 for both times. Even after the first guy said i wouldn't be charged!! Never use them again and the lady who answered was unpleasant.

We drove over an hour to be at one of our rental houses to meet the plumber. he never showed up that day and we were kept waiting the afternoon when in fact they could have just told us the truth that he wasn't going to show up. We were his first person on the next day so we went up and spent the night there to be there early in the morning . he seemed nice enough and then gave us a ridiculous bid for the project. we took other bids at half what he cited . he gave us no statement of work- just a ridiculous number on paper. When asked what his hourly rate was , they just backed into the bid number. I am so thankful we did not use this Plumber.

I was given an expected arrival time of this afternoon and Steve Brittain and his helper did not disappoint. The water spigot in my guest room bath refused to divert water up to the shower mechanism so water started spewing out from all around the spigot. With some pipe welding, a little copper pipe extension and some plumber know-how. Steve had corrected the problem and installed a new spigot that was a left over from my Master bathroom stand-up shower. I am glad I saved those extra parts for this occasion. The old shower water diverter had a pull-down mechanism under the spigot--you can pretty well guess how I felt about that situation. Now, the spigot works in a normal way--a person using the shower can gently lift the little diverter now that is located ON TOP of the spigot. Water flows as one would expect from the Water Pik, not from the spigot in the tub. YAY! Thanks to Steve Brittain and his staff for excellent service.
