Beth W.Paul Mair came out quickly and did an awesome job assessing the issue which turned out to not be a plumbing issue but a roof issue instead. He also looked at other areas in my plumbing and told me I needed a new water heater very soon and is sending me a free estimate. Thank you Paul!
Luther L.Brian B Quick was quick on the initial response and has been AWOL on the follow-through. The company helped replace an old water heater within a day that was leaking in my basement. Awesome/responsive/friendly.
The problem arose when I was told I needed a specific chimney liner to comply with DC code that changed as of 2015. BBQ farms out this task to an incredibly flaky person who eventually came to my house after me having to call the company 3 times.
When he arrived and did his own look around, he determined the $5000 I spent on the first visit (roughly 2500 for the tank replacement and 2500 - an inexplicable advance payment - for the lining service) was inadequate. The job has ballooned an additional 3k.
OK, but that's not what I was originally quoted when I was making my decision on who to hire to complete the full job. I have asked BBQ refund the 2500 so I can go initiate an annoying (but at least competitive!) process of getting the lining done. They have gone completely silent. I'm considering initiating a suit in small claims court to have my ~2500 returned.
Updating my previous 5 star review. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME AND $! Had BBQ come back after technician replaced a downspout in my bathtub and left a 1/4 gap between the wall and the tile. I sent a photo (attached) and asked for it to be addressed. Tech said he had ""overtightened a screw"" and that's why it wasn't flush against the wall. He asked me to inspect his work before he left, and I saw he had caulked the downspout and the shower handle that needed replacement, which he hadn't done on the first visit. Within two weeks, the caulk was cracking and the shower handle fell off. My son and I were using our downstairs shower for 6 mos before fixing my plumbing rose to the top of my ""must do"" list--I didn't want to call BBQ again: 1. Because they did a shitty job, and 2. They charge $425 for a service call! As I'm stripping off the caulk applied by BBQ, I see the tech didn't scrape off the old caulk. He just caulked over the caulk that was there. Not only that, when I peeled away the cracking caulk on the downspout I saw that he hadn't made the spout flush with the tile, he'd just spread caulk to try to fill the whole. Turns out, there was no screw that needed to be loosened--I.e., he lied--the copper pipe needed to be shortened about 1/4"" so the new downspout would fit snugly. I watched a video, talked to my brother-in-law who's a plumber in central NY, bought the needed tools and did the work myself. My blood is boiling, but I finally got this review written and I can stop thinking about it!
Yes I will recommend Jamal our technician he explained everything and every possible thing that could be wrong. We also discussed pricing before he started the job
Very expensive. Fixed prices by job rather than charging by time. Free estimates. I turned them down and had the work done for less.My guess is that was why they were available quickly.
First, he solved me problem, so there is that. (Have not seen the sink drain nicely, but will take tenant's word.
Now, $500 for a slow kitchen sink drain very expensive, but I did agree to it.
The issue of changing story of what it was - that was not as cool.. first it was a tree root, next it was someone that did wrong coupling, and that is the issue, and went on with two more 'issues' that were causing the slow drain..
I asked and was told that this is a bit odd, since pipe been there for years w no major issues so all of these issues, at once, one day simply can't all be right..
Initially, I was happy with what the service person had discussed with me regarding several jobs I needed done. Although, a bit pricey, I decided to go with the service the guy was nice and seemed very professional.
However, when he was installing the second toilet in my home the technician started saying he was going to charge another $700 for the installation bcs the ring under toilet needed to be connected and grounded. After I complained that I did not have the ability to pay more for the install and I would cancel the other work we discussed he all of a sudden found a solution that would not cost me more. As I waited I reviewed the other suggestions he had made against my home inspection report and realized he may have oversold me on the additional work. Now I feel like I am being hustled. So I got back to review the estimate and it is not itemized so I really did not know what the cost was for each job. After I canceled the additional work, he says to me that they will only refund $600 of my deposit making the installation and 2 toilets cost $2600.
I feel Overpriced, oversold and hustled. Previously, I have had toilets installed in other homes and even with a little extra effort needed it did not cost $2600!
Now when I call I only get music and no one answers.
The good news! The company was available in 24 hours to address my (non emergency) issues. Communication from the tech was instant, courteous and factual. The work was completed promptly (except for parts that needed to be ordered). The not so good news: the cost for repairs was well beyond what I had anticipated. When asked what the labor rate was the tech/plumber said that they do not reveal that information. Nor would they tell me how long the job took. They only quote by the job. Major flag for me. Had I known that when I reached out, I probably would not have selected them. The one piece they did comment on was that a second faucet (I opted not to have installed) would be ~$500 (I could be off by a few sheckles) to purchase and install...sorry, that is just crazy. when I looked at comparable faucets I see material costs of ~$250 for a decent option...so another $250 in labor for a 30 minute job? Use these guys if you want quick and complete service. Next time, I'll do more shopping to find a plumber who will be fully transparent with their costs, and probably much less all in.
The Brian B. Quick team came to our rescue today. I called them in the morning and they were at my home in under three hours to install a new water heater. Dan and James were very professional, thorough and fast! They installed the water heater, safety tank, drain pan, and updated the valves and water lines. They even added a carbon monoxide detector which is super helpful since we have kids. We greatly appreciated their help!
Tim Jones did a great job! He was very polite, gave me an estimate before doing the work and even though it took longer than expected the price didn't change
