In July 2023 I had the displeasure of allowing a plumbing representative of Breese P&H come into my house for a simple pipe burst under my kitchen sink. It was a small leak & I had it contained with a couple of towels. The plumber showed up with a couple of wrenches, a rag, and a bucket. His name was Joe. He told me I needed a fitting replaced.... no problem.... I could see that it needed replacing and the PVC U pipe that went with it. He also told me my garbage disposal might have caused it & I should replace it. He had 2 disposals to choose from.... the elite model for $315 or the next best model for $275. I didn't bother to ask if my old disposal still worked okay, I accepted his recommendation. I chose the $275 disposal, which also sold for $139 for the very same model on Amazon. That's a 100% markup & doesn't include installation. As for the pipe fitting.... he needed a part & had to go back to the shop & get it.... which was a half hour of labor time charged to my bill. When he was done.... no clean up.... nothing. He even took time to try and discuss politics with me since I was watching the morning news. This bit of political philosophy was charged on my labor bill. I didn't want to hear his political views... I just wanted my leak fixed & for him to leave. I should've asked for a license or certification of plumbing from this Joe.... & I have a sinking feeling I should not have replaced my old disposal. I do not recommend this business or Joe to fix anything on my property ever again.
Joe does great work. Is very tentative to customer needs. Office staff was helpful to scheduling the appointment.
I'm only checking a rating of 1 because I have to. They really should get a -10 rating. Do not hire this company. I called them for a water leak that was coming from a place where they had done some plumbing work several weeks before I purchased the property. When nobody was there at the time of the appointment I called the office to make sure we had the correct appointment date/time. Noone answered so I called the number on the outgoing message. Joe didn't know anything about the appointment but said he would come as soon as he could. By the time he got there the guys who were scheduled to do the work had arrived (about 15-20 min late). Joe immediately reacted that I was accusing him of causing this leak. He had never been to the property before and the other guys had never been there before. They acted like I was making it up that someone from Breese Plumbing had done some work in this bathroom several weeks earlier. When he called the other plumber that works for the company (who had done the previous work) he told him on the phone that I was ""Loaded for Bear,"" meaning that I was so angry with them and behaving badly. I was upset at having to wait for them without a phone call to say they would be late. I was upset that they appeared not to know anything about the work that was previously done by the company and didn't seem to have any way to get that information. I was not upset about the leak. I just wanted to figure out where it was coming from. I thought that's what you called a plumber for. When they discovered that it was the toilet leaking, they offered to put in a whole new toilet, when they probably could have just pulled the toilet and replaced the wax ring. But by then I didn't have time to wait longer for them to go buy a toilet and pull the old one. I had to get back to work.
The real clincher was when the bill came. They charged me for 2 service calls because Joe came and the other plumbers who were supposed to do the job came to the property. Joe plunged a sink and helped diagnose the water leak. The other guys helped with the diagnosis and replaced the toilet. Joe should not have even been there in the first place. He argued with me on the phone about why I should have to pay 2 service calls when I made one appointment with them. By the end of the call he reluctantly agreed to remove one of the service calls from my bill, after blowing a bunch of hot air into the phone about how right he was and how wrong I was and how badly I behaved.
You definitely do not want to hire this plumbing company, unless you like terrible customer service and unfair billing. It is validating to see that I am not alone in making this recommendation.
Poor quality. Poor customer service.
We hired Breese to remodel a bathroom. The plumbing portion of the job was fine. However, the carpentry work left something to be desired. I called and wrote to Joe in an attempt to resolve the issues, but there was lack of communication or any acceptance of the responsibility for the poor craftsmanship. The installed flooring is so wavy, you can actually trip on it.
We spent more than a year trying to get issues correct. No go. So no more business from us. All could have been corrected with minimal effort.
Additionally, the amount charged was a couple thousand dollars over the quote, which only adds insult to injury.
I absolutely do not recommend this company.
We called Breese Plumbing to fix our shower drain when we had an unexpected leak that was damaging our living room ceiling. Joe came in a timely manner and fixed the drain. He then informed us he often referred someone to do the repair work for the ceiling. How great, right? Mike, referred by Joe from Breese Plumbing, was excellent! He worked on the weekends and repaired the ceiling very well!
Then the bill came and we felt the repair cost was very high! I called Breese Plumbing to get an explanation of why the bill was so high. The receptionist/office manager was very kind and professional. She gave me Mike's phone number and recommended I call him to quote the cost of the ceiling repair, stating that would be easiest. The charge from Breese was $185 MORE than what Mike told me the repair cost! I then returned a call to Joe at Breese for further explanation. He stated he gave us a quote (verbally) before referring us to Mike and offered no further explanation. He stated it was ""sneaky"" that I called Mike directly. He then spoke with my husband, who does not recall receiving the verbal quote for the ceiling repair. Again, Joe accused us of being ""sneaky"" and refused to provide an itemized receipt explaining the high cost. Frustrated, I called Joe again. He then backtracked and said it was no problem to offer an itemized receipt but again accused us of being sneaky for ""calling Mike instead of us [Breese] to get an explanation"". He told me he has ""been doing this long enough"" that he provides quotes verbally and ""knows what the profit will be"". I explained that I did, in fact, call the company first for an explanation and was given Mike's phone number. I expressed my frustration with Joe's accusations and poor customer service. I assured him we would not be using his company in the future to which he responded ""Thank you"".
I find it very unfortunate that this company provided such poor customer service. I hope Mike, who receives referrals from Breese, is aware that Breese is charging nearly 40% extra for their own profit on his hard work. Mike and the Breese receptionist were wonderful. Joe, on the other hand, was accusatory, rude and lacked effective customer communication skills.
They do quality work and are not difficult to deal with in my book that's big. I would recommend them.
