WARNING!!! Do NOT use these people! I had them come out for an estimate on a plumbing repair. They wanted to charge me over $1000 dollars to repair a simple leak. They said the 'pressure regulator' was old and needed to be replaced before they would fix the leak. That repair would cost close to $800. I asked them to repair the leak only, they refused to do it unless I included the regulator and left. I called another plumber, they repaired the leak for $100 and also replaced the older Pressure Regulator (although it wasn't needed but I asked them to do it anyway) and they only charged me $150. George Brazil is a ripoff outfit and WAY over-charges their customers. Again, BEWARE of this plumbing company!!!

We suffered from a power surge/outage on November 25, 2012 here in North Redondo Beach. It took us a day to realize that we had more problems than just getting our power back on. We contacted George Brazil and found out they were the same company as Mike Diamond Plumbing; a technician came about around 5 pm on November 26, monday. He determined we had to have a new thermostat installed and quoted us $672 for this.

As it turns out, about 4 years ago, we had had to replace the original thermostat and at that time the plumbing company charged us $245 to do the job. So we told the tech this. He didn't have any answer. Also, while waiting for him to finish his diagnosis we checked online prices for the exact same thermostat that we had in there and we found it online from between $30 and $50. Interestingly, the thermostat the George Brazil/Mike Diamond tech proposed (again, the one for $672!) was less advanced than the one we had and wanted to replace it with (basically what we had and what we were seeing online). So we pointed out to him that we had just found our exact same thermostat online for $30-50 and even showed him the computer screen. His response? ""Well, that's what the company tells me I have to charge.""

We paid him the outrageous $99.95 he charged to show up and tell us the thermostat was fried (we knew that), and to hear his attempt to OVER SELL us an overpriced and less technologically advanced unit.

And the nonsense about what the company told him to charge? Well, that's bogus because these guys work on commission, so there is some price flexibility there.

He obviously didn't want to deal, which is fine, but to try and justify an outrageous price based on the company and then basically shrug his shoulders - what a big rip off.

Maybe these guys are good for huge plumbing jobs - I don't know. But our experience means we not only would never call them again for anything, but we'll be telling others about our experiences. Great way to do business - NOT.

I'm not sure which of their many locations serve my area but BEWARE. They claim that they always tell you upfront and before starting the job, how much it will be. They usually do but the last time I had them they didn't and charged me $600 for a faucet valve. I complained and they gave me a $150 credit note for a future job. Of course I have no intention of ever using them again.
They also charged me $250 for a toilet tank flipper which I see costs $6 and takes a few minutes to install. They are not even good at what they do. My incident occurred a long while ago but was discussing it with a friend just now and thought I must write to warn people. There are plenty of good plumbers. Get a recommendation from a neighbor but if they suggest these people, get another name from someone else ....
The manager told me that their employees do a specialized school or training and that's why they are more expensive but believe me they are totally ripping people off. Plus they are not even very good at what they do.
I would put zero stars if that was an option.

Advertised for $99 to clear most drains. They cleared my second story drain and charged $120 for climbing the stairs and doing the plumbing. I called and let them know I was unhappy with the UPCHARGE. The manager accused me of threatening him when I told him if I end up paying the $120 I simply will not use him again. I insisted that he appologize since that was not a threat and eventually he did. I explained that I want to pay and I will happily pay and said that I would pay the $99 but he said he would not charge since he DID NOT WANT MY BUSINESS. I called the call center and they would not give me the exact address of the people who actually did the service call.
