Before this became Ritz Plumbing, it was a great company. Boyd Rogers replaced my broken water heater about 8 years ago with a unit that had a 10 year warranty. When the new water heater sprung a leak in September of 2011, they came out and replaced it and charged me $100 in labor and $23 in equipment. I couldn't have been happier with their service.
Fast forward to now. My wife had them come out on May 12th, 2016 because we weren't getting hot water (I was out of town at the time). Wife called me and told me it would be $325 to fix. I trusted this company so I said ok without going into the details. When I get home from my trip I check the invoice and it didn't say Boyd Rogers Plumbing, but Ritz Plumbing instead. The $325 was just to replace a a thermocouple. My wife asked them about the warranty and they said it did not cover labor. Ok, I understand that but when she inquired about the part cost, she was told she had to call the manufacturer and have them send us the part. What complete BS. This business is a scam. After the job was done, they said it took less time then they originally thought. So my wife asked if there was a discount then on the charge and they said no. They even had the nerve to charge my credit card $375.00 instead of $374.50 (the actual amount).
This is a dishonest and untrustworthy operation that I hope no one does business with.

Needed a gas plumber to fix a leak in a valve and they advertised 24/7 and gave me a two hour window right away. They confirmed my number, address and symptoms. As this is a townhouse, it is likely gas to all 18 units might need to be turned off, so I coordinated with neighbors and the property management.
Low and behold, they never showed up.
No call. Nothing.
At the end of their scheduled time, I called for an update. The operator answers and says he can't get ahold of the tech to give me an estimated ETA. He confirmed my phone number and said he would try a different way to call him and call me back. This was six hours ago.
Now all my neighbors are either afraid the place is gonna blow up if they make a pot of tea or think I run around claiming the sky is falling. I couldn't be more disappointed with their lack of professionalism and now had to pay emergency rates to a different company to come out within an hour. Shame on you Boyd...shame on you.

Boyd Rogers Plumbing effectively resolved all our plumbing problems, provided understandable solutions and total resolution was achieved.
Of course they also guarantee the work!
We are RAVING FANS and will always use Boyd for any plumbing need in the future and will require that our tenants always call Boyd.
Rudy and team were great communicators from the first emergency visit and throughout the week of challenges. They were fair and honest with their quotes, shared all detail while providing both short and long term options/costs for our old home.
Boyd uncovered many complexities and could offer numerous solutions which included the latest technology. We are all so happy we have resolved a long term problem which will reduce future costs.
Rudy quickly and effectively resolved our complex plumbing problems (in a home built in 1969) the problems included: a clogged kitchen sink, old cast iron pipes, and years of debris, wear and the ineffective activity of another plumber from another company. Just as important Rudy and his teammate Justin were also very considerate to our valued tenants.
Rudy also took the time to educate us and our tenants on the process and options from start to reconstruction helping us to get everything back to normal as quickly as possible.
We feel very fortunate we called Boyd and will never use anyone else at any of our rentals or own home!

DO NOT CALL. I have used them over the years so I felt comfortable scheduling them to fix a leak in my shower. After checking everything out he suggest we either rip the outside stucco or put a hole in my shower wall to the tune of $900.00. I told him I only wanted the valve replaced. So after ""rebuilding"" the cold water valve I still had the leak. So he suggested we replace the water pressure gauge after spending $425.00 And he was here less than 1 hour I still have the leak. My son came over later took the handle off the other faucet that the plumber did not look at and we found the leak. My son called Boyd Rogers to complain about up selling and bad business practices. The receptionist was rude finally saying a supervisor would be calling back. No one has returned our call. They are not a business I would ever recommend

We had a hot water faucet leak in the shower. 3:30 on Friday afternoon - not the best time to have this sort of problem. I called Boyd Rogers Plumbing in Vista at 4:00PM. At 5:00 PM the problem was fixed. I don't know of another plumber who would have responded that quickly. The service technician was excellent, pleasant, and had the leak repaired in 10 minutes. Boyd Rogers is my NEW PLUMBER!

Horrible experience with this company (Or new ownership anyways)!!!!!!
They installed a water heater for me that was not installed correctly to code. When I found out this issue from inspector, I asked them to come back to correct the issue, for which they were very agreeable over the phone.
To start off they were an hour and a half later than their time they said they would be there. When they looked over the unit they said there were many issues incorrect with the way it was installed (The way THEY installed it) and then they wanted to charge me - for the second time - to repair their mistake because it was installed 2 years earlier and said the code had changed. I asked them to call the manager of the company to ask if that is the customer service they wanted to portray and they would not...... Hmmmm........ So, I told them to take a hike!
Found out from another plumber that the code for this has been the same for 10 years and that it was improperly installed so I paid them to correctly fix it...............
AVOID BOYD!

For many years I used Boyd Rodgers Plumbing. They did good work, were reasonably priced, prompt and efficient. Recently, ownership has changed. Most unfortunately, that has change was for the worse. I had a problem with a garbage disposal, had gone to a store, bought the garbage disposal and called to have them come over and install. When they arrived, it was two plumbers, not one. They advised that they normally charged $550 for changing out a garbage disposal and since I already had one, they would give me a deal at $325. They were here for a grand total of 15 minutes. In hourly terms, their work was $1,300. This is an unfortunate and total rip off which reflects not only poorly on them but as an indictment of what is normally a simple business and good profession.

My parents in Vista called this place a long time ago. They were happy with the service, so when a pipe burst in their wall, they called them again. Little did they know, it's under new ownership/management.
They were on vacation, and asked me to stop over when they got there. Well, they couldn't come the day we wanted, so it was a two day wait. I have no clue why my parents agreed to that, as they had a leak in the friggin' wall. Well, the follow day I was there, and they were two hours late. The guy showed up, and he said ""Uh...I can look at the leak, but the tool we use to detect where in the wall it is...I don't have it with me.""
Uh, okay.
This meant, he looked...but did nothing. Said he'd come back the following day with the device he needed.
He came back the next day, 30 minutes late. They had a lot of trouble finding the leak, which seemed odd to me. After hours of tearing up the kitchen wall, they call my folks to say it would be $3,000 to fix. He's not there, so he agrees.
It takes them all day the following day. I hear them singing, laughing, having a great time. That was fine. Nothing like guys enjoying their job.
One of the guys, was walking around the house looking around upstairs. I didn't think anything of this, because maybe they were looking for other leaks. Who knows.
My parents came home, and at this point, they had been working on the wall for about 10 hours or so. They end up telling my dad it would be $8,000 because it took them so long to find the leak. He was a bit bothered by that, but paid it.
Well, he checked with another plumber, and also the insurance person. Both said two things. First, the job should not have been more than $1,300. Second, the job was done horribly. Said stuff about the way they sottered the pipes and how they made the holes in the wall, etc.
So, they were supposed to come back and finish a few things up, but my dad told them not to worry about that. He'd get somebody else.
He then called them, asking why it cost so much, and could they send him an itemized bill (they never left one). Well, they didn't do that. They just avoided his phone calls for 3 straight days. He called at all times of the day, at one point getting a receptionist who assured him she'd pass the message along. Then...they got an itemized bill finally, but it really said nothing. So he called back. Now, NOBODY was answering their phone. I listened as my mom said ""They have caller ID and are avoiding your calls,"" with my dad saying ""No, I'm sure it's not that."" So we put it to the test. I called them, from my cell phone. A number they didn't have. Receptionist answered immediately (when one minute before, she didn't for my parents).
I handed them the phone. He said he was a little bothered they're avoiding him. Finally, he got the owner on the phone. He then found out it was a new ownership group. He said he wanted at least $4,000 back. They haggled a bit, but eventually, this guy decided to give my dad $4,000 back, after he threatened to report them to some agency that monitors plumbers. That means he paid $4,000 for a job that was done sloppy, and should've only been $1,300 (now according to a number of others in the field).
This is a business you should avoid.

Called at 7 am, waited all day at our rental...no show, had to recall at 4:30...arrived at 5:15. Asked for Carey, woman said not available...now I know why, he no longer works for the company however the receptionist did not tell me that. Plumber did later tell us that both Carey and the best plumber no longer works there. We had a plumbing clog in the bath sink & tub...they charged $231!!! All other times with this company clogs were taken care of for $80-90.
Have requested calls from the owner 3 times, no return calls. Supposedly the manager will be calling...I am not holding my breathe.
We will never use this company ever again! Please don't give them your business.

When I made the appointment for this company to come out, the phone was answered by an answering service that didn't sound like it knew what it was doing ! Sure enough, the plumber didn't show up. When I called them to see where he was, the answering service said they had no record of my call or appointment. This is, of course, after arranging my time to get this taken care of and waiting 3 hours for the guy to show up. Arrrrrrrgh. I have used this company in the past and they were good, but the answering service, when questioned, says they are under new management. I am calling another company because I'm not making another appt. with this same inept appt. taker and get jerked around again. Sorry Boyd Roger's Plumbing, your answering service lost you a customer !
