Miranda C.I have never had to call a plumber in my life, but I'm so glad that Boyd's was there for me when I needed them. I had just moved here from Orange County and didn't know anyone in the area, so when my rental clogged and water was spewing from multiple pipes, the man at my front door wearing booties and gloves was a beautiful sight. He showed up at 12:15, inspected the situation, told me what the issue was, and had the papers drawn up within 15 minutes. Another 15 minutes later he had the problem fixed and was packing up! I highly recommend Boyd's for your plumbing needs. A regular call to come out is generally $190ish, but since I had put Draino down the drain in my pathetic attempts to fix the problem, it was $50 more. I would pay it again no problem! Eric was fast and easy going and is a definite asset to this company
Teri S.We had Zeb come out from Boyd Plumbing to fix our shower and he was great!!! We not only received professional service, he was on time and worked quickly so we could get on about our day. We've never has such a level of professionalism with a repair person and just wanted to say ""thanks"" to Boyd for your training and hiring well!!
Great job, we are highly satisfied with our repair!!
Mark G.Rarely do I ever actually write a review. I only do in exceptional situations. John McBride of Boyd Plumbing is an example a exemplary service. We had an underground water main leak under the driveway. Water was spurting up from a crack in our driveway. We had no funding to fix our leak unless we went through ygrene financing. So We first called Clark & Rush (because they were on the approved list of plumbers with ygrene) on the Saturday it happened. We paid $89 for him to tell us he couldn't do anything until we spent $280 on a leak detection company to find out where the pipe is. I asked if they could just bore a hole and lay new pipe. He said he hadn't heard about that technology and we would have to remove part of our driveway. They even refused to do an estimate even if we locate the pipe ourselves. Next we called Bonney just to get an estimate. They said it would be between $6-7 thousand. We didn't have enough funding for thier project and we're very worried. Next we called Boyd Plumbing. I was completely and totally impressed with John. He genuinely seemed concerned with our situation and explained in detail about the project. He also made us feel even more relived with his estimate of $4,000. Almost half the cost of the other companies estimate. They scheduled us for a fix in one week. We were initially disappointed with the scheduling but they bumped up a day because they understood the urgency of resolution. We understood because they had to contract out the boring hole & pipe with another company. We were told it would take one full day. To my surprise the boring company finished in little over an hour. John came back with his partner and proceeded to put the fittings on and replaced a leaking water valve we had in only a few hours. We have a house with thin walls and a loud child, so much to my amazement he decided to call when he was done instead of knocking on the door because he assumed I put my kid down for a nap. That is exactly what I was doing. He said on the voice mail that he thought I was probably putting my kid down for a nap and that he had kids too and he said that he hoped it was OK to call instead of knocking on the door. This last step of his excellent customer experience just solidified for me how great of a company Boyd Plumbing is. I looked at the work they did and it looks perfect. I cannot express how satisfied I am with thier work. They did a fantastic job and cost half the price of other companies.
While needing to call a plumber is never done under the most wonderful of circumstances, the good people at Boyd Plumbing helped me get through an awful situation as smoothly as possible.
I have been in my new ""old"" home for roughly 45 days and was having some drainage issues with my bathtub. I called out Boyd, and Fernando came out within a few hours to take care of business. He determined that it was a main sewer line blockage, so after he presented me my options, I selected the lowest cost option to simply have the line snaked and go on... This was great for a couple of days, until on Sunday of a holiday weekend, I experienced the same issues and worse, the sewer line was backing up into my front yard...
I called Boyd and they send out Eric and Alex within about 1 hour. They snaked the line again, and sent a camera down free of charge because they guarantee their work. The camera unfortunately found that the issue was much more severe than a simply blockage and that a good portion of the line needed to be replaced.
As bad as this news was, Eric did a great job presenting and explaining my options, and talking me through every different element and answering all my questions. Within a few days, the line had been replaced, and things were flowing normally. Though this was not a fun process, Eric and Alex made it easier to accept and move through by their professionalism.
While I hope I never need to call on a plumber again, if I do, it will be Boyd! Thanks!
Jonathan G.So, I want to be fair about this. I contacted Boyd in an emergency situation, having used them twice before at two different rentals. They were not wildly expensive the first time, did a good job diagnosing the problem, but really didn't do much except look in the sewer pipe with the camera. I get there's a minimum charge, which I paid gladly.
For the second job (a shower that had the hot and cold reversed by the previous owner), it took several people coming out to get the job done correctly, the people being the original worker, the owner, and the last technician, who it seemed fixed the issue. I very much appreciated Michael coming out and taking responsibility, and I intended to use Boyd going forward.
Two things happened since that caused me to give the one star rating. When they arrived for the emergency situation, a whole house sewer backup after calling the Sac County Sewer District who determined it wasn't their issue, I was quoted a price. Since I trusted Boyd and since it was not a situation that could wait, I authorized the work, which basically was making a hole in the ground to find and then access the sewer line, and putting a camera in the hole in the pipe. They had to remove a toilet to access the line, and all told, they were there several hours. After a bit of examination with the camera, it was pretty clear that it was a Sewer District issue. They came out and cleared the blockage.
Boyd's bid did not include the cleanout, which was basically essential at that point. When I spoke with the Sewer District and mentioned the cost, they were frankly shocked that the original price didn't include a cleanout. The bid from Boyd to do that ranged from nearly $1000 to nearly $3000, and the Sewer District recommended I get another bid, since this was no longer a huge emergency. Needless to say, I got another bid.
The bid I received to install the cleanout soup to nuts was $500. The company technician who did the work nearly laughed out loud when I told him the cost of the original work that didn't include the cleanout. That company would have charged me less than that for the complete job, including digging, opening up the pipe, using the camera (which they did as part of the $500), and installing a cleanout.
I had several conversations with Michael about this, but he wouldn't even entertain the notion of a partial refund to retain my business. Ok. Well, so much for customer retention, but we ended the conversation cordially.
Then, I had a problem with the shower from the second job mentioned previously. My tenant reported a really bad leak, with water flowing down the wall underneath the shower. I called the company that finished the sewer work for the second job, since there was no way I was going to call Boyd. They found that Boyd didn't actually solder several sections of pipe completely, and in at least one case hadn't even seated the pipe completely. In addition, Boyd didn't secure the pipe to the wall, so that anyone using the shower mechanism would continually move the whole mechanism inside the wall, which means that even if it had been soldered completely, the joint would fail eventually!
So far, this has cost me an additional $850, and that doesn't include repair to the wall and ceiling downstairs. Boyd has a warranty, and I suppose I could have contacted them, but given what was found, it was too late, since it took a while to determine the problem, and I obviously no longer trusted that Boyd would fix the problem properly.
The bottom line is that Boyd is wildly over-priced and the workmanship was poor. On the upside, Michael was pleasant throughout.
Zeb did an awesome job. He was very personable and did the work in a timely fashion at a fair price. I would highly recommend him.
Lisa A.We have used Boyd Plumbing several times now They have always been professional, honest and provided wonderful service. I highly recommend them! Thanks David L you made a stressful situation so much easier!
Quick, professional, reasonably priced and did I mention quick?
Our utility sink had a clog that went deep into our pipes so our tiny little 4 foot snake was no match for it. Laundry was piling up and we were going a little bonkers. Called Boyd's in the morning and they were at my house in the afternoon. Mario, our technician, was great! We can now do our laundry again! Thank you!!!!
Very impressed with service provided. Zeb was courteous, informative, and efficient in completing the job neatly and in a timely manner. Great job!!!!
Called Boyd to get a quote on changing the kitchen sink garbage disposal. They setup an appointment to have the plumber come out and give a quote: $750 for changing a garbage disposal!!!! Yikes!!! Luckily for me I had called 3 other plumbers also and all of them quoted between $160 to $200. Said goodbye to Mr. Ripoff Boyd Plumbing guy and scheduled with the $160 plumber, got it done, with warranty for 1 year and electronic receipt as well as the plumber taped up the faucet head connection with some plumbing tape for free! Boyd needs to learn some lessons from hard working and fair priced plumbers out there!
