Mr. Bowen spent 30 minutes repairing my sprinkler valve (RPZ). The bill for 30 minutes of work that included one piece (12"") of white plastic pipe and one plastic coupling was $257. I asked Mr. Bowen what his hourly rate was. He said he does not bill by the hour, but by the job. The invoice he submitted did not itemize the cost of the parts or the cost of his labor, just a total. When I question the high cost of the bill, he lamented that the cost of gas, insurance, and everything else had gone up.
Uhm, $500 an hour is not a bad wage.

Since he was recommended as a good master plumber I did not ask him for an estimate of what 30 minutes of work would be.

I would have given a 0 but the ratings wouldn't let me. I should have gotten a written estimate prior to them doing the work as advertised on the website. I did not. My fault. I had a problem with my kitchen sink that when you turned on the hot water function, the hot water just spurted out of the faucet. I called Bowen to fix the problem. He showed up with an assistant and because I had an instant water heater in the sink operation, they couldn't figure out what the problem was and said they would have to do more research. I did my own research and found I merely needed to replace the hot water valve under the sink. I did so and it corrected the problem except that I had a very slow drip from the hot water heater under the sink. Bowen came back today with the same young man to fix the slow drip. They were here for about 45 minutes and added a brass compression fitting to the hot water heater which corrected the slow drip. I thought I was looking at a service call price plus the part (approximately $10) which should have been less than $100. To my shock, when they finished I asked what did I owe him and he replied usually it would have been $255 but he would only charge me $240. Are you kidding me????? What a rip off. I wrote him a check but I will NEVER do business with this business again. BEWARE and make sure if you elect to work with this thief in my opinion, you get the written estimate they advertise before hiring them. I suppose they think they can rob people in the village because of the unaware elderly population. I guess I just confirmed that.

We are new to Hot Springs (2016) but we're ecstatic to have found Bowen Plumbing. We have used them on several occasions - from installing a new gas line for a range, a new water heater, hot water dispenser and dishwasher.

This is a family owned local business that does honest and competent work. They respond in a timely manner and do outstanding work.
