Boudreau was fantastic from phone call to invoiced services. My tankless water heater was giving me trouble by shutting off within a few minutes of operation. I placed a call with Boudreau yesterday and an actual human being answered the phone. She scheduled service for me today. The technician (Dan) arrived within the stated time window, and got right to work. He was pleasant, explained every step of the process, and worked diligently. Dan serviced the heater and cleaned areas he considered trouble areas. When he was finished with the maintenance and service, he placed a call with the water heater manufacturer to check on previous errors with my water heater and to obtain a reference number for my water heater in the event it needed future service. I will definitely call them again, if needed. Thanks, Dan!

Can't say enough about how pleasant it was to deal with Boudreau. Had an issue with our tank-less water heater. Glenn came out, ran the diagnostics, and reset the system--all the while patiently answering my questions. We're back in business with hot water in less than 30 minutes.

Just had Boudreau Plumbing & Heating, Inc. [650.366.5393] replace our 45+ year-old furnace (that spouted dust as much as heat), and a 30 year-old sump pump that was cracked. What a fabulous job they did - and it wasn't easy! Breaking apart our old monster furnace , and getting it up the basement stairs was a major operation, as well as removing and replacing the asbestos ducts that were in the basement.

And, the way the crew (Ken, Dan & Brent) comported themselves was amazing: they arrived on time, explained what they were going to do, laid down protective covering on the floors, were super polite and respectful, and went above and beyond the contract - fixing safety items they discovered along the way. I can't tell you how impressed I was with the whole operation.

Then Dan came back and very patiently explained to us all the workings of the thermostat, as well as getting my husband's smart phone hooked up so he can control the thermostat from afar.

Would recommend them highly!!!

This was some of the worst customer service and value I've ever experienced.

We called them to come out and inspect our Bryan Plus 90 heater, which was making a screeching noise. I found them on the Bryant website as an authorized dealer.

Boudreau mentioned on the phone that just having them come out would cost $250, and when the 2 servicemen arrived, the first thing they did was say: ""You know it costs $250 for just for us to walk in the door, right?""

There were 2 servicemen. Neither removed their shoes on our carpet. The younger one seemed to be less experienced, and didn't talk too much. The older one was very rude. He really seemed to like hearing himself talk. Our heater is fairly near our baby's room, and my wife and I both asked him several times to speak more softly, which he never did.

After banging loudly on the heater for a bit, he told me it was a problem with the inducer draft motor, and then said: ""this is a very expensive repair,"" as if to get me ready to pay a lot. He said both the parts and labor would be very expensive.

He then told me that he could check whether the heater was still under warranty, and asked me if I would authorize them to do the repair if it was. I told him to check first, which he didn't seem to want to do, but begrudgingly did. Turned out our heater was no longer under warranty.

His recommendation: just run it until it failed, ignoring the loud screeching noise, because it would be too expensive to fix. He never actually told me how much it would cost.

At this point, I just wanted these guys to leave my house. They called my CC number into their office, and someone there wrote it down. The guy wanted to make sure that the payment had cleared--he was obsessed with making sure he got his fee for the service call. (If he often acts like he did at our house, I imagine not many people have him back to do the actual work.) The woman at the office said she'd written it down and would run the card later--he seemed disappointed not to be able to charge me on the spot.

A few days later, I called them back to find out how much they would charge for the repair (I knew I wasn't going to have them do it, but I at least wanted a ballpark price). They had to check on the price of the part, and the next day, called to tell me that the part would cost $400, and the labor would be $800, for a total of around $1200.

I the end, I bought the part (320725-756 Inducer Assembly Kit) online for around $260 (Boudreau quoted me more than $400), and considered installing it myself following the simple instructions in this youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CPjEtoj_4XU . But I ended up paying someone else another $250 to install it, just to make sure it was done well. So the repair ended up costing abut $500, when Boudreaux quoted me $1200.

I can't understand how these people are still in business.

I had a Bradford White Eco Magnum 75 gallon gas water heater and Bryant gas furnace installed a few weeks ago and am very happy with the result. After the estimate process, the owner Paul called to confirm the details, determine a good day for the installation and then followed up to confirm. The crew removed two old water heaters, a very old furnace and installed both new units in less than 8 hours, no small task since we needed new electrical, gas lines and venting. The workmanship is absolutely top notch. Also a very nice group of guys, could not have been more pleased. Pricey, but high end units and expert installation are worth paying for. Highly recommend Boudreau.

Caveat Emptor is the watch word not just for this company but for every service company out there.

Here is my coaching to buyers out there:

1. Have the service company list, in writing, the part name, manufacturer, number and estimated cost they will charge you for the part(s). Why? because service co's can and will charge over 400% mark up on a part. Take a moment to Google the part and the cost. Educate yourself.

2. The Labor costs. Get a second opinion. You may be charged $200 for 15 minutes it takes to replace a part (that's $800/hr.)

To service companies:

1.Honesty and fairness builds a long term relationship. Being fair with clients mean they always come back to you.

2. It costs a lot less to re-sell your services over and over than lose a customer and have to re-acquire a new one.

I called Boudreau Plumbing late yesterday afternoon to set up a service call. They said their employee Glenn would come to my home between 11 a.m. and noon today. He actually arrived at 10:30 a.m., and proceeded to look at what was needed and take care of the problems - the major one, leaking kitchen sink and need for new garbage disposal, and the minor one of a leaky bathroom faucet. He explained what he was doing, gave me advice on some other less pressing issues, and provided paperwork for the new disposal when I asked for same. I mentioned to him that I had called their company about another issue a while back - broken heater over a holiday weekend. On that occasion, they informed me that they really had no openings for a few days, but they also called back to check if I had found someone. Glenn told me they do check on such things. The price was reasonable (though not cheap), but good customer service is worth every penny.

Would absolutely recommend Boudreau. Our two year old, 28 gallon Rheem went out and they came out within two hours of my call. Didn't charge for the parts and said they'd do all the warranty paperwork. Val was the plumber and he was so nice and understanding. Two days later my grandfather's water heater went out and I called them based on my experience earlier in the week. They came out the next morning and completely replaced his water heater including a new ball/gate valve for under $1500 (quoted during the call to schedule). Didn't upsell him at all. He was thrilled since his neighbor spent over $2400 for the same heater in the same location. Mary is super helpful, kind, and considerate. Everyone we've dealt with has been great. Will definitely use them again.

Called Boudreau to get a second opinion on a problem I'm having with a Bryant air conditioning unit installed by another company in October. Friendly on the phone, set and kept an appointment the same day. Listened to my issues, checked the system, made recommendations. I asked how much they would charge to fix the problem. They said anything they did might void the warranty from the company that did the original installation and I should call the other guy again. I was impressed by their friendliness, knowledge, professionalism and integrity. Machines being what they are, having someone you can trust to call is critical. These guys put the customer in customer service. Sorry I didn't know about them BEFORE having a system installed. Call them first.

Great service by Val! After being disappointed by another plumbing company not showing up 2 weekends in a row, I had a great experience with Boudreau. First called them out to replace a garbage disposal. The woman in the office (who answered the phone) was so nice and professional and Val, the plumber was very nice and respectful. I then had him come back and replace my water heater. I feel the price was fair and I appreciate they give you an appointment time not a 2-4 hour window. I will use them again!
