It's the third time I've used Boston Drain and decided to write a review because every service call resulted in a positive outcome.

First Experience: My plumbing company cannot respond to emergencies, so they coordinate with Boston Drain for a clogged sink/disposal issue. Fixed within several hours of the call. Sorry, but I cannot recall the person who came to handle the problem, but it was a good experience with Boston Drain, which brings me to the next issue:

Second Experience: During a big rainstorm, my basement flooded because of a clogged drainage pipe that sits outside of the basement door. Panicked, I called Boston drain, and they cleaned the drain, which was full of debris, mostly from tree leaves. Gabe and his partner were great! Professional and got the job done.

Third Experience: Next call to Boston Drain was every homeowner's nightmare:

The main drain sewer was clogged and caused water (sink, shower, and toilet; gross, gross, gross) to back up into the basement utility sink, which then overflowed onto the basement floor.

Panicked, I knew who to call, Boston Drain. In under an hour, Kyle showed up to save the day. First, he phoned my town's DPW Department to see if the town's sewer line caused the backup. Fortunately, the Dedham DPW was VERY responsive, and they were onsite within 30 minutes. Kyle waited to see if the issue was town-related. Not the case. After ruling out the first scenario, Kyle diagnosed the cause, which was a clog in the main drain.

Here's what I most appreciated most: I was beside myself panicked, which I guess happens when sewage is flowing into your basement. Kyle thought to contact the town's DPW as the first step in troubleshooting the issue. He was professional and empathetic. He thoroughly explained the problem and implemented the fix. He also went above and beyond to dispose of the ""sewage"" water using a special vacuum instead of having more floor leakage.

I also want to recognize Debbie and the other person (not recalling her name) who answers the phones and coordinates the appointments. Professional, empathetic, and responsive. Will call when the person is on the way and flexible when I had to change a follow-up appointment. It feels like they communicate in a way where they know the customer is stressed. It's not like someone is calling to make a dental appointment. Any house water emergency will send most homeowners into a tail-spin!

While I'm hoping never to have to call Boston Drain again, if you do have an emergency plumbing issue, I can't say enough about the service, from start to finish.

We had a broken pipe on the outside of our house that was causing all the sewage to back up into house. Called Boston Drain and they were quick to send someone out to clear the clog where they discovered the broken pipe amd I also had a sagging pipe under my livingroom floor.. They gave me an estimate on the spot and sent two teams out the next day to fix it. One team for the outside excavating the ground and another team to dig through my concrete floor. They were in and out in a few hours and cleaned up nicely after themselves. This is the best place to go for all of your plumbing needs. I'll never go to Roto Router again. They are extremely overpriced and try to push services on you that you don't need. Chris, Juan, Kyle and Tim thank you for all of your hard work.

When I needed a clogged drain fixed while not an emergency, I called Matt and he sent someone over within a few hours. The problem was fixed quickly, professionally and correct. I then recommended him to a neighbor and he received the same great treatment. Five stars all the way.

If I could give negative stars, I would. The workers from Boston Drain let themselves into my house. I had left my basement door open when taking the trash out. I DID NOT HIRE THEM. They got the address wrong and just came in! My neighbors also didn't not call them, so the address wasn't off by just a bit. Thank God I was home and kicked them out. The person I called in the office was apologetic but also joked that they would have ""dug up my basement and given me a new sewer line for free"" if I hadn't been home to kick them out. I am outraged. This company has horrible communication and a serious lack of protocol. Letting themselves into the wrong house is unforgivable.

If there was a lower rating, I would have selected that. I called for a quote on a broken lateral under my lawn, since they are an approved Boston Water and Sewer supplier. Was thrilled that they said they could come that afternoon. I waited, waited, finally called back a little after 5 and was told they tried to call me and didn't get any answer. Wrong. The guy told me he'd be there at 9 AM, and wanted to know why I seemed annoyed. I told him I'd taken the afternoon off of work, didn't see how I missed a call when I was right here, would see him at 9 AM. At 10 AM I called their office and was told I was scheduled for the following day. I said never mind, I would find someone who could communicate more effectively. The same guy called me back and said he had an emergency but would be there in a little while. I asked why he hadn't called me, and he said...'you know..we didn't diagnose the break, so why don't you call Roto Rooter and let them do the work. We'll pass.' And that's the most honest thing the company had said to me thus far. I agree. Pass.

We discovered a sewer back up in our basement last night. The main clean out pipe was leaking sewage back into our home and I was frantic. Having had a good experience with Boston Drain Company in a rental home years ago (our Landlord recommended them) I gave them a call. After speaking with a dispatcher I received a call from Mark, the plumber on call within five minutes. Mark explained that he was finishing a job nearby and would be at my home within an hour. He arrived as committed and got to work right away. The first thing we discovered was the old cast iron clean out pipe was cracked. Mark pointed this out and shared that whomever left it that way wasn't doing us a favor should a backup happen again. Using a power snake he pulled large clumps of roots and other unmentionables out of our sewer main. He then capped off the cracked clean out as best he could and departed. A few hours later we returned home from dinner and discovered that the backup returned with a steady drip. I contacted Mark on the cell phone number he provided and he immediately answered. And though he was in a foot of sewer water at another job he never complained and said he would come back as soon as he was done with the other job. And he did just that. He snaked the drain again and capped it off. Given the recurring issue he recommended that we get a camera in the line to figure out why the drain wasn't draining properly after having been snaked twice. He said he was putting us on the docket for first thing in the morning. This morning Chris from Boston Drain Company arrived with his See Snake camera system. As I watched the video monitor of the camera inching its way down the piper it was strangely fascinating. Chris was giving me a sewer main 101 education while commentating on what we were looking at every step of the way. We discovered root clumps, chunks of fat and well, you know, along the way. There was also a section of clay pipe that had settled and was creating a shallow pool of water. Chris explained that this creates friction for the water flow. Similar to a pool at the end of a water slide. Seeing this I was anticipating the sales pitch for their need to dig up my front yard and replace the section of pipe for thousands of dollars. After all, replacing sewer pipes is a major revenue generator for them. But nope. Chris was completely open and honest and shared that the pipes have been working for over a hundred years so a little settling isn't a major issue. But he did recommend a third party to perform a high pressure cleaning that will get rid of the roots and fat chunk blockages. A service that they stand to make no revenue from. He also arranged to have someone come over to cap off the cracked clean out pipe so it won't leak if there is a future back up. Oh, and since I paid for the initial cleaning last night there was no charge for the follow up camera visit. So while no one wants to be in a sewage back up situation feeling helpless and vulnerable to service companies. Thankfully if you are there is Boston Drain Company - professional, reasonable, informative and honest. Thank you for making a $#@%^ situation a relief.

Five stars isn't enough! We had a disaster New Year's Eve day and Boston Drain responded within the hour. For the next few weeks, initially replacing the water pipe trap in the basement and then excavating and replacing the broken water line, they were excellent. They did all the paperwork with the city to line up inspections and even to get our rebate. The technicians were on time, efficient, and pleasant, and Debbie, the office manager, couldn't have been more professional. I would't wish sewage in the basement on anyone, but at least this company had the experience to make fixing it easier!

Amazingly quick with their fix! Tub was clogged and toilet was leaking from the base. The property management company for the apartment I'm in was here right away and called Boston Drain. The fix was all done in a matter of 20 minutes.
