To replace the motor in our heater, which seized up and quit working, parts and labor would be $1,200. The tech thought that we should replace the entire unit for $5,000. He said the motor, which would have to come from China, would cost $500. He then said that it would only take him an hour to install and he could do it in 3 or 4 days, after the part came in. Do the math. This guy makes $700 an hour?
My husband purchased the motor less than 5 miles from our house for less than $150 and installed it himself...the next morning, 2 days before they ever called us back.

Quoted $8000 for a leak under our driveway.

Got a quote from Buds Plumbing for $1600. BIG difference I'd say! Took them less than a day to break up the concrete, dig out the dirt, fix the leaking pipe, refill the dirt and poor the concrete back.

SCAM!!!! FRAUD!! Use caution! this outfit comes in with smiling and friendly techs who put booties on their shoes. Nice enough. Then, after inspection, its the high pressure sales tactics to convince us to replace the heat exchanger, which was found to be fine after being confirmed by a 3rd party followup heater service.

The guy took some pics with his phone, said he made a call, talked up fear tactics. Played good cop saying that he ""hooked us up"" by getting the part covered under warranty, but strangely the install was going to be over $1000. Then fear mongering began.

We cancelled the heat exchanger install. Got a total fight from the tech who claimed to be ""admin."" In his last ditch attempts to close this sale, it became clear that his pitch was falling apart.

As i just mentioned, just had another company come and inspect, just for our piece of mind and no issues with heat exchanger. A perfectly operating system.

These guys have the same approach as a car salesman. Which would be fine except that they hold all the power in heating our house. Their sales tactics masked as service are predatory, false, and dishonest. Shame on you Bonney. I wonder if the founders are aware of what their company has become, a fraudulent sales machine. It is no surprise the state got involved for these sales tactics.

Had them come to fix a problem with our household heater in Stockton. Paid $100+.
Within a week, in the middle of a very cold spell, the problem recurred.
Called them in the morning. They couldn't schedule someone until the next day, and we'd still have to pay more.
We called someone else and got the problem properly fixed the same day.
Certainly can't recommend them based on this experience...

Fool me once, shame on you. In a hurry to replace a kitchen sink I paid $1,000 for an installation for which I had already bought the sink, faucet and related hardware. $1,000 for a two hour job and all equipment provided. Yikes. What a gouging. My only satisfaction is in knowing that I will never use Bonney's services again and gladly tell my sad tale to anyone who will listen.

We have the Bonney Bam maintenance plan at 3 properties. They always find some upsell fix to recommend even on our less than one year old AC unit.
Also, twice we have called for emergency service and they haven't been able to send someone out for more than 24 hours. Each time we called another company (Ace Plumbing) and they were able to come out within 6 hours and fix the issue quickly.
In Bonney's favor is their commitment to the Sacramento community (soccer team for example) and their efficiency in coordinating appointments with our tenants and informing us quickly.

Every time I see thier ad, which I just saw during the niner game, I think about the guy who came to my house for the free estimate. Lucky I stopped him before he looked at the broken pipe and asked him again about the free estimate, because the free estimate turned into free only if you use us. I asked what that meant, since no one had told me that on the phone. He explained, I had to pay for the estimate, but, the price of my bill will be reduced by that amount if I choose them. When I complained, he said you expect us to look for free, I told him that was what a free estimate meant. He did no seem to comprended that and kept arguing with me, so, I told him to get back in his truck and leave. From the get go, the guy seemed shady. The other company I called for an estimate did not do that, thus, they got the job.

Our pilot light would not stay lit, I thought it might be the fact that I can't reach the air filter to clean because of the way the first bonney plumber installed it, but it was the thermal coupler. First off I'd ignore the offer of yearly checking your plumbing, A/C and heating systems for the ""low price of $99"". They look at the problem then go back out to the truck to come up with how much to overcharge you. If that doesn't send you reeling(the price can go up by the way, if they hit ""trouble"")...then comes the ""well I can also replace this"", is it broke?, no, but it could go bad. We paid dear Bonney over Two Thousand Dollars for a water heater and all the ""code improvements"" less than nine years ago. The thermal coupler assembly part was in the truck. The part costs $51 at Sears(no doubt they pay much less), it took less than a half hour to replace and I was charged $344...and that was after a discount of $38. Lots of honest independent plumbers around that do decent work...going to skip the Bell one too.
Bonney was fined $12,000 by the State Contractors License Board in April for over charging. I think the only thing that has changed is their advertising blitz, showing the smiling couple, that are also on the trucks. The chief executive is not one of them, so don't be fooled.
On the plus side, the repairman was very civil, very clean and very efficient. He should go to work for himself and quit working for the Jiffy Lube of plumbing.
By the way, does anyone else think it's odd that the ratings are mostly one or two stars then a few five stars?

Be cautious when choosing to depend on Bonnie technicians for quotes and service. They suggested spending $9,000 on a new hvac unit when only a $200 part needed to be replaced. Do your homework before agreeing to use this company.

I live in Newport Beach Ca, my mom and dad live in Dixon. They called me to ask who they should call to have fix their heater, it went out on Sunday. They called around and could not get a straight answer on pricing. So I contacted Bonney Plumbing Heating and Air. They were able to send a technician right out, his name was Justin. My mom said he was fantastic he wore shoe covers and was very clean cut. He took care of everything for them. I am very thankful that I have found a company that I can trust to take care of my elderly mother and father. I just want to say thank you to the office and field staff.
