DECEPTIVE AND DISHONEST - On May 4, 2019, I scheduled an appointment with Bonney Plumbing, Electrical, Heating & Air to repair a dripping shower faucet. A Bonney Plumbing, Electrical, Heating & Air service technician, Anthony, arrived at my house on May 5, 2019. After conducting a visual inspection, the service technician informed me the repair would require a complete replacement of the ""internal mechanism"" and provided an estimated cost between $1,600 - $1,800. After I informed him that I couldn't afford the cost of the repair, he told me he was still required to charge me a $49 service call and reinstalled the shower handle upside down. The shower was then unusable because it only delivered extremely hot or cold water.
Realizing that a leaking faucet shouldn't cost $1,600 - $1,800 to repair, I researched the problem on YouTube and learned that the problem could be fixed by replacing a cartridge that is located behind the handle. With the assistance of YouTube, I was able to replace the cartridge for less than the cost of the service call by Bonney Plumbing, Electrical, Heating & Air.
Bonney Plumbing, Electrical, Heating & Air was deceptive and dishonest. Bonney Plumbing, Electrical, Heating & Air was deceptive by charging a $49 service call, only to provide a dishonest and grossly excessive repair estimate of $1,600 - $1,800.
I will never again call Bonney Plumbing, Electrical, Heating & Air for anything. If you have a plumbing, electrical, heating, or air problem, I STRONGLY suggest that you contact an honest and reputable company, which is NOT Bonney Plumbing, Electrical, Heating & Air.
Bonney over-charged me. A complex fix was presented. But the final fix was quite simple and required very inexpensive parts. I was charged a very expensive price and provided a very inexpensive fix with inexpensive parts and a relatively small amount of labor.
Julie D.They can't make an appointment! first appointment canceled because other customers were more important, cool so I rescheduled. Waited around all day for my service today and the guy was a no show. I'll be doing my business else were. Stick with these guys if you want to waste your time.
Greg G.Screw Bonney! I've had an appointment for over a month for 1 today on a Sunday. They call me twice and leave no messages. Then they argue with me in the phone and tell me it was for between 1-5 on a Sunday! That's not what they said. When I talk to them it's already 5:30 so they're late either way. They can blow up my phone with messages and texts but no one can tell me between 1-5. I told them to go to hell! I own a company that comes to peoples home and I would never do this to people!
Kevin Seth J.Bonney has a great radio ad playing over and over and touting their superior air conditioner tune up service for $100. Bonney has a pretty terrible reputation but I thought I'd give them a chance. When the representative contacted me the price magically changed to $129. When I asked for them to honor their ad price, she stated, ""well... there was a little problem with the ad."" Indeed the problem is called bait and switch. Avoid this unscrupulous company. Don't walk. Run away
Shop around, you'll find that their prices are astronomical.
Hot water heater is out- Their technician quoted us $800 to replace two parts that can be had for $100 and $20 respectively, that can be replaced in an hour or two at most.
They also quoted us $2700 for a new water heater installed. (A new water heater of that size can be had for $600-800 and takes about 4 hours) Maybe the water heater they wanted to give us was a really nice one, but... No. $1200 or so would be the most I'd pay.
Their technician was very professional, so I'm giving them an extra star for that... and I did agree to the $49 service charge up front, but... No. Look elsewhere.
Daniel S.I love the new commercial they are currently running about a $49 tune-up from other companies being a 20 minute inspection to pitch more repairs ect, implying they actually do the tune-up to your system. LOL I had one of their promotional $59 ""tune-ups"" where they did a 20 minute inspection only to pitch more repairs. Nothing was actually done to our system. Seems a little hypocritical to run an ad against their competitors for doing exactly what they do.
Vitaliy Ivanov was unbelievably kind, efficient, meticulous and professional in how he handled his job on my sister's Rheem HVAC in Fair Oaks on Tuesday, April 16th. Explained to us the necessary cleaning of the blower wheel, the indoor/outdoor coil and the installation of a compressor saver kit. He also e-mailed me the invoice and ten detailed photos of work done on the compressor unit. Included beneficial recommendations (trim the par acanthus branches and place a fence around the unit). Now the Rheem HVAC runs like a charm. Thank you Vitaliy on a job well done. :)
Sincerely, Sandra J. and Sheryl S.
P.S. Since I don't have a Google, Facebook or NextDoor account, I used Yelp instead.
I recently had my bi-yearly ac check up by Bonney Plumbing. Umberto, a friendly and courteous young man presented himself at my door promptly at 8 and started to work. He not only performed the required checks, but spent much time making sure all was in excellent working order. He set the system to work as it was supposed to work. I am actually able now to to use my air conditioner in only one area at a time if I choose to do so. He spent almost 4 hours here just for a check up and when he had a question about my system, he sought advice from a master technician. I was very satisfied with Umberto's work, conscientiousness, and his courteous manner. I highly recommend Umberto with Bonney Plumbing!
Here's our Bonney experience:
We just finished getting a full replacement of all of our outlets (indoor and outdoor), brand new electrical panel, brand new water heater, swapped exterior lighting installed, new ceiling fans installed (where none were previously), new doorbell, brand new ducting throughout the entire house, smart switches installed, mystery scary thick wires removed outside, new chandelier, new kitchen fluorescents. So this review covers electrical, plumbing, and HVAC teams.
Overall, Bonney has some really nice procedures in place. Every technician thoughtfully covers their shoes when they come in and out of the house. They have an easy to reach central phone service. They text you reminders of your technician arrivals. They use an enterprise iPad app to build estimates, sign financing, etc in a streamlined way. Technician leads give you their cards and are EXTREMELY responsive via phone or text communications. Yes they all are salespeople, yes they skew towards the pricier options. But, they will happily hear your needs and build you estimates from low to high, without high pressure sales tactics. The only pressure we got was we were offered a 5% discount if we made our decision the same day as our estimation appointment, which comes out to a nice extra savings on a bigger project. We're not sure if they are the cheapest, but the work overall tracked with the estimates we had made (with the help of my contractor father) prior to purchasing the house. They also worked well without us present, using a contractor key to access the place. Everyone was trustworthy and nothing was out of place.
On the plumbing side, the new water heater was installed quickly and cleanly and it works well. The technician was a little pessimistic (wanting to do even more work, though we declined for the moment), but overall the work was solid and professional.
On the electrical side, we worked with Bob McGinnis, Eduardo, and a few others. Eduardo was nice and professional. Bob was extremely informative and patient. He ran us about five highly detailed estimates of potential options, from cheap to verrryyyy expensive. He explained to us the pros and cons of each option. He explained to us financing options, and let us know that we could also bundle services (electrical + HVAC for example) to get a better deal. We chose a middle ground option bundled with HVAC work, and his team quickly got to work. They were all professional and friendly. They patiently listened and responded to my requests. The electrical panel work was... astoundingly complex. The panel tech was really diligent and nice. It took ALL DAY and was amazing to see. They worked well with SMUD, handled alerting our neighbors of potential electrical shutoffs. They went through the house with walkie talkies and perfectly labeled the new circuit breakers. I'm sure this is standard procedure when you spend money on a new electrical panel, but you could tell the techs cared about doing a good job. If I ever had a question, I could call or text Bob and get a fast response.
On the HVAC side, we worked with Ruben Bracamonte. Ruben was friendly and professional, answering all of our questions. Similar to Bob, he gave us several options, ranging from cheaper to more expensive. After we chose which options we wanted, he worked with us to get a decent construction loan, and the financing process was easily completed on his iPad. He was able to process the financing for both his focus area (HVAC) and the electrical we had previously estimated with Bob. The HVAC work itself was done quickly and professionally. We had an issue after the work was done (booths weren't cleaned) and I texted Ruben about it. He immediately got a tech out to fix the issue.
So overall we're glad we called Bonney, and we will probably use them again for future work. Hope this review helps someone else in the area considering using them!
