In 1923, William E. Bolton Sr. left the railroad industry to manage the setup of the heating and cooling system for the first high-rise hotel in Raleigh. He worked as its maintenance engineer for a short time after its completion. In 1925, the founder created the W.E. Bolton Company to provide and support coal heating and refrigeration systems for regional dairies and meat processing facilities.

From those early days, each generation of the Bolton clan has done their part to develop, enhance, and maintain our foundation to high standards and honesty. Now proudly providing our community with heating and cooling, air conditioning, plumbing, construction, electrical, and backup power services. As this business enters its fourth generation, with the current president, William E. Bolton III at the helm, our staff will endeavor to build upon what is already one of the most reliable names in the construction industry in North Carolina contracting sector.

The latest of the president's children, the youngest son, Mark Bolton started working with Bolton Construction after receiving a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Systems Engineering from the University of Wyoming.
