I hired BMR Contracting (Roger Doyle) from Utica, NY based upon the BBB rating of 96% and good reviews on YELP. I just bought a new home and it needed some repairs. I contacted Roger Doyle with BMR and he came out quickly and said he could start right away during peak time for contractors. That should have been a red flag to me but I missed it because I was grateful to have the work done right away. That is one of the many RED Flags I should have caught but didn't. I am a single retired woman and I don't know anything about the ""Contractor"" world and I had no family to help. From the beginning there was bad communication after they got my down payment.
I originally hired BMR to remove a tub/shower and replace with a standup shower and repair the floor under the shower due to rot and fix the drain plumbing in the basement from the sink, shower and toilet. The shower they installed was the cheapest plastic unit you can buy and a standard toilet they replaced. They kept the original vanity sink and replaced the faucets.
I wanted manufactured flooring throughout my house. Roger Doyle kept asking for more money for materials and down payments for work to be done. I wouldn't get invoices for some of this because they would ask me on the day they ""needed to get the stuff."" I have asked several times to get receipts and still haven't received them months later. Roger showed me samples of flooring and I picked out one, but they installed something totally different; the cheapest flooring available, 1/4 inch vinyl plank flooring and didn't even insall the color I picked! The flooring is warping and buckling. BMR subcontracted a galvanized chain link fence and replaced a small beam above my fireplace and did a little drywall finishing repairs and a couple of minor things.
I felt rushed and taken advantage of, but they were already on sit and I needed to move in because I had to get out of my other house that I sold. I didn't know at the time how much I had given them until I went through my finances. I knew I was giving Roger a lot of money, but I didn't know how much this stuff costs and I trusted them. After looking at what I gave Roger, I thought it was a lot for what was done. I asked a friend, who is a contractor, if he thought that I got a fair price for the money and he about had a heart attack and got really mad that someone would take advantage of me like that! Roger ended up taking my life savings.
I ended up giving Roger Doyle, BMR Contracting, over $100,000 for a job that shouldn't have been over $25-$30K MAX. This price was given to me by several contractors. DO NOT use these Criminals! You will regret it!

Best contractor around. The crew is great, very hard working and friendly. They put in a new patio door and fixed a couple of problems with the sill. They are also going to do a new kitchen for me .

I had a flood in my bathroom which meant that I had to turn my water main off. BMR came through for me the same day I called. A pipe broke off the spigot under the sink. The guys that fixed the problem were so nice and completed the repair within an hour. They had to open the wall to get to the pipe, but there was no other way to fix the pipe. Highly recommended!

Great Company. Sensitive to wearing masks when they arrived. SHOWED UP WHEN THEY SAID THEY WOULD!!! We discussed the problem, mutually came up with an acceptable solution and they got on with it. Nice work, Roger was great to deal with, they worked quickly on a very ugly plumbing problem (I sure didn't want to do it) and got me running again. Can't say enough good things about them.

BMR did a wonderful job resolving all of our plumbing issues this summer. We had a new hot water tank installed, and we have plenty of hot water now. They were able to fix existing issues and repair things that desperately needed to be addressed. We couldn't be happier with the end result. The pricing was reasonable, and the crew were very pleasant and easy to work with. It was a pleasure to have them in our home as they were respectful and meticulous. They left our home exactly as they found it, and they were very helpful in explaining the whole process from start to finish. We have a better understanding of our plumbing and the area of our home where they completed the project. Roger went above and beyond with answering questions and concerns and is a nice honest person. We will be using this company again very soon for other plumbing and contracting projects and repairs. We hired BMR to hang & mud drywall. Work was finished quickly & quality was amazing. You can tell care & thought was put into the work. The workers were friendly, respectful & cleaned up after themselves. Price was very reasonable. I would recommend them to anyone for their home improvement needs.

This review is edited, as I was waiting for our deck to be complete before finalizing my review. My partner and I have been very pleased with the quality of the work done by the BMR Contracting crew. They did work in our basement to include: taking down the insulation, putting drylock on the walls, and replacing the insulation. They also built a new (very sturdy) staircase from the basement to the first floor. We had a new sliding glass door put in the kitchen, and had a new deck built off the kitchen.
Roger D is the owner and gives consistently reliable advice about any projects we have to get done. He is personable and genuine; we have found him to be very easy to get along with. He advises us on what he feels are the best quality materials for our money, and actively listens to our concerns and expectations. The finished product is always well done, and our happiness with the outcome is important to him and his crew. I would definitely recommend BMR to anyone looking to do work in or around their home.
