Kirk Gronvold, a third-generation builder, has been involved in construction since he could first hold a hammer, and established Blue Water Design Build with a singular vision: to provide superior craftsmanship while ensuring great value for homeowners.
The experts on our team specializes in renovating homes, such as kitchen and bathroom upgrades; enhancing windows, doors, and skylights; laying down carpet, tile, and hardwood; offering plumbing, electrical, and lighting solutions; and constructing decks and fences. Additionally, the Blue Water Design Build team is passionate about designing cabinetry and countertops, along with finish carpentry, trim, and molding. Located in Seattle's Ballard area, we are a locally owned and operated business and have strong ties to the local community. Kirk Gronvold launched Blue Water Design Build in 2007 after years of experience in a family-owned construction business.
Rooted in Tradition
Blue Water Design Build has a rich history that dates back over 50 years when Kirk's grandfather immigrated to Seattle from Norway. He introduced the craftsmanship of Norwegian masters to Seattle and started building homes.
Kirk established Blue Water Design Build LLC to concentrate on design-build services. We provide builders, developers, and homeowners with exceptional craftsmanship for new builds and renovations. Our electrical and home services division ensures home repairs and maintenance are handled with the same quality focus.

Lance R.Blue Water did a complete renovation on my home prior to my purchase. The do very high quality work and incorporated many unique and creative elements to my home. When doing the final inspection, any items that needed to be repaired were done the right way regardless of time/cost.
Recently with a few days of extremely heavy rains, surface water pooled around my foundation and I noticed water in the basement. I reached out to the team at Blue Water for recommendations on how to solve the problem. The next day a crew of 3 was on my property to solve the problem. They setup fans in the basement to dry out the carpet and prevent a mold problem from developing. They identified that the storm drain system on the property was insufficient so they dug trenches in the yard and ran all downspouts to new dry wells. The next day a carpet installer arrived to replace the carpet pad and lay the carpet again.
Within a couple of days the house and yard looked like nothing had happened and they fixed the issue for good!
