Kirk Gronvold, who comes from a lineage of builders, has been involved in construction since he was a child, and created Blue Water Design Build with one clear mission: to deliver quality craftsmanship while ensuring great value for homeowners.
Our skilled professionals are proficient in renovating homes, such as kitchen and bathroom upgrades; enhancing windows, doors, and skylights; laying down carpet, tile, and hardwood; offering plumbing, electrical, and lighting solutions; and constructing decks and fences. Located in Seattle's Ballard area, our company is locally owned and operated and deeply connected to the community. In 2007, Kirk Gronvold established Blue Water Design Build after gaining experience in a family-run construction firm.
Founded on Tradition
Our legacy at Blue Water Design Build goes back more than 50 years when Kirk's grandfather immigrated to Seattle from Norway. He carried the skills and knowledge of master craftsmen from his native land and set out to build homes.
Kirk founded Blue Water Design Build LLC to focus on design-build solutions. The company offers homeowners, builders, and developers quality craftsmanship for both new construction and remodeling. Our electrical and home services division ensures home repairs and maintenance are handled with the same quality focus.

Lance R.Blue Water did a complete renovation on my home prior to my purchase. The do very high quality work and incorporated many unique and creative elements to my home. When doing the final inspection, any items that needed to be repaired were done the right way regardless of time/cost.
Recently with a few days of extremely heavy rains, surface water pooled around my foundation and I noticed water in the basement. I reached out to the team at Blue Water for recommendations on how to solve the problem. The next day a crew of 3 was on my property to solve the problem. They setup fans in the basement to dry out the carpet and prevent a mold problem from developing. They identified that the storm drain system on the property was insufficient so they dug trenches in the yard and ran all downspouts to new dry wells. The next day a carpet installer arrived to replace the carpet pad and lay the carpet again.
Within a couple of days the house and yard looked like nothing had happened and they fixed the issue for good!
