Third-generation builder Kirk Gronvold has worked in the construction industry since his youth, and founded Blue Water Design Build with a singular vision: to provide superior craftsmanship while maximizing value for our clients.
Our skilled professionals excels at home renovations, including kitchen and bathroom remodels; updating windows, doors, and skylights; installing various flooring options; providing plumbing, electrical, and lighting services; and building decks and fences. In addition, we takes pride in creating cabinetry and countertops, as well as finish carpentry, trim, and molding. Based in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, our company is locally owned and operated and are committed to our community. In 2007, Kirk Gronvold established Blue Water Design Build after gaining experience in a family-run construction firm.
Founded on Tradition
Our legacy at Blue Water Design Build goes back more than 50 years when Kirk's grandfather came to Seattle from Norway. He carried the skills and knowledge of master craftsmen from his native land and set out to build homes.
Kirk launched Blue Water Design Build LLC to specialize in design-build services. We provide builders, developers, and homeowners with exceptional craftsmanship for new builds and renovations. We also have an electrical and home services division that provides repairs and maintenance with a commitment to excellence.

Lance R.Blue Water did a complete renovation on my home prior to my purchase. The do very high quality work and incorporated many unique and creative elements to my home. When doing the final inspection, any items that needed to be repaired were done the right way regardless of time/cost.
Recently with a few days of extremely heavy rains, surface water pooled around my foundation and I noticed water in the basement. I reached out to the team at Blue Water for recommendations on how to solve the problem. The next day a crew of 3 was on my property to solve the problem. They setup fans in the basement to dry out the carpet and prevent a mold problem from developing. They identified that the storm drain system on the property was insufficient so they dug trenches in the yard and ran all downspouts to new dry wells. The next day a carpet installer arrived to replace the carpet pad and lay the carpet again.
Within a couple of days the house and yard looked like nothing had happened and they fixed the issue for good!
Blue Water is a fantastic business that creates a great product and they stand behind their work. When I am in the market for another home or a remodel they will be first on my list to call.
