Archie Lanyon's journey as a registered Master Plumber began in 1916, establishing a family tradition. His three sons followed in his footsteps as plumbers. Grandson Steve and great-grandson Jesse have carried the family tradition into the modern era, upholding Archie's ethical standards while expanding into plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and drain cleaning.
In 1954, Archie's son, Charles Lanyon, moved to Wheat Ridge and founded Lanyon Plumbing and Heating. In 1986, his son Steve launched Blue Sky Plumbing & Heating, broadening the family's influence across Denver and nearby front-range areas. Steve now operates just a short distance from the office, collaborating with his son, Jesse Lanyon. The business has changed significantly since the Lanyons began, but their focus on quality and customer satisfaction is just as vital now as it was in 1916.
I take pride in being a 4th Generation Colorado Master Plumber and feel fortunate to uphold this legacy of delivering valuable services to the amazing residents of the Denver Metro region. My upbringing in this business taught me the value of the ""Golden Rule,"" a principle that our company lives by every day. To me, my employees and our loyal customers are like family. At Blue Sky Plumbing, Heating, Cooling & Electric, we aim to foster lasting relationships with our clients. Thank you for selecting us for your upcoming home service needs; you can rely on Blue Sky!

rudi M.I'm not sure how you can justify a 1300 dollar charge for the removal and installation of a 50 gallon electric water heater. The going rate is 600-900 dollars installed. I am staying away from this company for grossly over charging consumers. Unless you like to throw money away have at it people. Stay away, stay away.
Troy H.I run a small property management company. I had a heater in a garage stop working, the owners specifically requested I use Blue Sky because they had installed the unit about 5 years ago. I called Blue Sky, they demanded a credit card prior to making an appointment, this I always find to be a red flag but I was doing as I was told. Blue Sky took my credit card and said it would be a week until they could look at it. When they did go look at it they called me and said they though it needed a new control board but had to call the manufactured to be sure, they then charged me $260 for the half ass diagnosis. When I complained they said $130 an hour was the going rate and the tech was there for 2 hours. (I don't mind paying $130 an hour if they fix something) They called back the following morning and said the board was bad and would could order one the cost of board and installation would be about $800. I got a second opinion, another company went out found it was a bad switch and had it up and running on one visit for $150. Blue Sky is either incompetent or unethical, I will try and believe simply incompetent.
Not sure what happened to my earlier negative review of Blue Sky, which gives me pause when trusting YELP :-(. Our experience with Blue Sky was pretty bad. They replaced a hot water heater connected to a hot water heat boiler system. They initially promised a small 'add on' job for free (installation of a hose) that they then charged $300 for. Interestingly they asked that I remove my negative review from YELP and sign an legal agreement never to discuss my review (the power of yelp!). So beware there may be a number of disgruntled customers like me whose voices you have not heard. I had another heating/plumbing specialist in later to fix a related issue, and they noted that the hot water heater install was incorrect and not to code. I did not follow up as everything is working (fingers crossed as my system seems unnecessarily complex). Will never use Blue Sky again, lots of other good options of really good plumbers out there.
We had Blue Sky install our furnace, which went fine but when we needed them to fix a faulty switch, they really dropped the ball. The claim that they ""GET IT RIGHT the first time"" on their website but it took them a couple of trips to fix a pretty standard issue. They will charge you a dispatch fee and a minimum 1 hour service no matter how many times they need to come to your house or how quick the fix is. I realize that not every technician can diagnose and fix every problem on the first try but when the first technician can't get the job done, which requires a second visit from a different technician who in turn charges you more for his visit, it makes the customer feel like they're being taken advantage of.
When I talked to a manager he explained that they do not carry many of the parts at their warehouse so they need to charge the customer for all the overhead it costs to order the part, pick it up, and install it. Their invoices only have the word ""Labor"" on it along with the price so the customer has no idea where these charges are coming from. Not to mention it requires a second visit with a new set of fees and charges.
They fixed the problem but their technicians didn't offer a whole lot of insight when I questioned them about the second visit and the $395 total it cost to fix a switch. Overall, it felt like they cost us a fair amount of money for not doing it right the first time and they answers were all vague and unsatisfactory.
We had a leak we suspected was coming from furnace components yet we knew we needed a place which would straddle both plumbing and furnace issues in its suite of offerings as we couldn't see where the leak was coming from. We hadn't had super luck with plumbers in the past, and so were dreading this call. We knew Blue Sky in name only as they support some cultural offerings in our community. But Blue Sky was quick and friendly in their response. We were super pleased with the caliber and demeanor of the responder. He must be a plumber with credentials based on his work and my conversation w/ him. What a delight. We usually get techs or plumber-wanna-be's.(Let's face it....there is a measure of confidence when real experience arrives!) The leak was repaired and whole system checked. Now I breathe a sign of relief. I am super confident we are good to go. So wish I had called them sooner.
Based on Yelp alone, Blue Sky was not on our list of plumbers to call. But our first choice (Zane) was booked solid for weeks and after I talked to him about what needed replacing they recommended Blue Sky. We'd already gotten one estimate from another company and it was over $3000. Our house is really small and our home owners insurance person and the other plumber agreed our first quote was pretty high.
I'm really happy that the other plumber recommended Blue Sky!!! We needed our entire gas pipe system replaced and this was just two months after buying our home. They were always polite, professional, and prompt. It's hard to figure out who to trust when it comes to your home and money but I feel we got lucky and we won't have to worry about looking for a plumber in the future!
Thanks Blue Sky!
Andy G.I have used Blue Sky at multiple properties for both plumbing and heating (boiler) work. They have always proven to be reliable and their work has never had a problem. While they are not cheap, you do get what you pay for. Thanksgiving 2013 I had the thermoucouple go out of my furnace. I had a tech there within an hour and it was repaired in less than 30 minutes. Good communication and professional attitude.
It would take an hour to say what a horrible experience we had but they seem to find things wrong no one else can see and it is always VERY expensive..if there were a MINUS FIVE rating I would give it to this so called""family business"" BEWARE al g
Blue Sky successfully repaired a swamp cooler at a rental property I own for $600 in the spring of 2013. Cost seemed high, but it is an older unit. Warranty for 1 year with requirement that I use Blue Sky for start up/shutdown, which was also fine.
Fast-forward to October 2013: Contacted Blue Sky for the shutdown, and was informed that the cost would be $200.
$200 for a swamp cooler shut down, when other vendors offered $75-$100?!? Pass.
Tried to negotiate with the company, asking for a furnace tune up or something along those lines to be included free of charge...did everything possible to maintain business with Blue Sky. No dice.
Sorry Blue Sky, but I'm not interested in overpaying for a routine service. Nor dealing with any company that refuses to negotiate with what could have been a regular customer. My recommendation: find a vendor with more flexibility and more business sense.
EDIT post owner response: Kudos to Mike for responding. However, my comments stand. The review above is based on multiple attempts to negotiate price,. I have no intention of using Blue Sky again, regardless of my ""threatening negative review"" yielding a price concession. I don't care what you charge others--I care what you charge me.
Your response falls apart on multiple fallacies. Besides, if you really want to see what a threatening review looks like, check out the other negative responses to your business, which seem to be strangely relegated to the ""not helpful"" section of Yelp...I wonder why that is...almost as if someone is paying for them not to be featured.
Grace W.We have used Blue Sky for years for clogged drains, misfiring furnance and various and sundry other plumbing issues. Most recently had a bathroom sink DIY plumbing job gone wrong (started with dropping two AA batteries down the sink and ended with lots of leaks in places we hadn't even touched and multiple trips to Home Depot...if you have done any home plumbing you know what I mean)
Called Blue Sky, scheduled an appointment (the soonest one I could get....my husband and I were sharing a bathroom with 3girls). Anyway, Darryl showed up at the beginning of the 2 hour window, fixed us up, charged a reasonable price and wa on his way.
We used a yelp deal and saved 20 bucks....great experience, highly recommend
