Blue Ribbon Plumbing remodel our bathroom and we couldn't be happier. Kim did an amazing job helping me pick out all my product all the way down to the grout color, Definitely enjoyed working with her. I will say i was so nervous about the whole project considering this was our first big renovation, But once i saw the progress i was amazed how detailed Antonio was on every inch of the bathroom. They were super clean, which i was really chocked about. I cant wait to do our next bathroom with them, definitely would recommend them to anyone.
Ferdie L.Quick follow up and great customer service! Blue Ribbon came in, assessed and repaired within days of my first call. Paul is a dream to work with. Looking forward to working with the Blue Ribbon team in the future.
Fred R.As soon as I stepped into Blue Ribbon I felt comfortable, Paul made sure of that. He greeted me with a handshake and got down to business helping me with my problem. I needed to have two of my bathrooms remodeled in my mother's house to have walk in showers and handicapped accessable bathrooms put in.
He detailed everything very well and gave me tons of different options to go off of. I had to book a bit further out than I would have wanted but that was fine especially in hindsight given how it came out. I'd recommend them to anyone thinking about limited mobility or handicapped accessable bathrooms.
The most expensive and one problem after another.kim is beyond rude .she says they only give a years guarantee ,at one year a pipe
I should have gone with my first instinct & left the showroom when Paul didn't want to talk to me without my husband. He was very condescending the whole time. We had to have them back to regrout the title floor because it was done by a new guy & it had a bunch of air bubbles in it. My husband resecured the light fixture & towel rack because we were sick of dealing with them. Had to fight for a replacement vanity because it wasn't put together properly & the drawer kept falling off the track. They told me I had to call manufacturer & they told me Blue Ribbon put it together.Blue Ribbon denied it, but FINALLY replaced it. Never ever would I use them. I can not believe they are in business.
Jennifer P.I will make this brief. We had an absolutely horrific experience with Blue Ribbon Plumbing. They are rude, extremely disorganized and so unprofessional- to say the very least. A detailed recount of our very unfortunate experience with them is available on the Better Business Bureau website. Do yourself a favor and read it before ever considering using them in the future. The new general manager's name is KIM and she is an absolute nightmare to work with- unless you enjoy being lied to, misled and SCREAMED at anytime you have a concern/question regarding the work being done.
This review is for Blue Ribbon Plumbing under their new management with Kim. We did a complete remodel of the master bathroom, an update of the guest bathroom and some other odds and ends around the house.
Good:
The initial process of picking out things in the showroom was pleasant and low pressure.
The workers that came to the house were professional, friendly and generally easy to be around while they worked.
They handled existing house problems found along the way quickly without much delay to overall timeframe.
When all was said and done Kim did work to ""make things right"". The bathrooms when completed looked good. Not amazing, but good considering the issues.
Bad:
It appeared that there was a lack of design and planning with this project. This felt to me like a very new company that had never taken on a remodel of this scale before.
There seemed to be a lack of communication within the company. There was many times I asked the foreman about something and the response I got was ""Kim never mentioned that"".
They were about a week over when they actually got done vs the time frame we were given.
While the space was at one point cleaned, work that was done after that was left uncleaned. We found saw dust on the floor in the basement from where the electrician was drilling holes, drywall dust all over the new vanity and fixtures and wire scraps where outlets were replaced.
Bottom Line:
The whole process seemed way more chaotic and stressful then it needed to be. Between all the things that were missed or not taken into account, I felt like if I wasn't there we would not have gotten what we intended.
The employees did, genuinely seemed to take pride in their work. However the time that was required to improvise to make things work left them rushing to get the job done. Overall if they can work on their planning and internal communications this could be a good company.
Details:
The job was to completely gut and remodel the master bath, update the guest bath with a new tile floor, toilet, vanity and lighting, move/add recessed lighting in the kitchen and add a light in the entry way to the basement stairs.
The master bath remodel included replacing the existing fiberglass shower with a larger tiled one, installing a smaller vanity to accommodate the larger shower, tiling the floor, removing the popcorn ceiling, replacing the toilet, updating the electrical with new lights, plugs and switches and generally updating the accessories to match the new aesthetic.
The timeframe we got was a week and a half for the full project. We did say we wanted permits to be pulled and the estimate was still about a week and a half to two weeks.
Some of the issues we hit...
Electrician didn't install the LED recessed lighting because he didn't like the look of them and the regular bulbs were cheaper. The foreman had to replace the fixtures with the LED lighting.
Concrete backer board was not used when tiling the guest bathroom even though it was called out in the contract. They credited us for cost of backer board.
Guest bath vanity top was ordered too small and had to be reordered. Reordered top still seems too small as the closed draws stick out past the counter top.
Desire for a larger than normal shower nook/shelf was never communicated by Kim to the foreman. As the wall was already framed by the time the foreman asked where the shelf should go there was no easy way to put in a larger than normal shelf. Foreman had to improvise a double shelf by making a taller nook and shelf out of tile pieces.
Master vanity was too big for the space they constructed for it. They ended up having to cut into the wall to get the vanity to fit. Then half of the draws wouldn't open and needed to be cut down to fit against the wall. Now vanity draws have a smooth finish on some sides and rough cut spray painted black sides where they were cut.
The baseboard heat was also an issue with the new vanity. This however was known prior to the start of the project and there were discussions with Kim about dropping the pipe into the floor or raising the vanity so it would fit. This information was never communicated to the workers and as they had already retiled the floor and jammed the vanity in place they were forced to put the pipe in the outside wall.
I could go on but I think you get the picture.
Sign says they open at 10am on Saturday. Showed up at 10, waited 10 minutes. No sign of anyone, lights off, door locked. Not happy to have wasted my time. Would have loved to support a local business but if you are not open when you claim to be it is a huge disappointment and turn off.
I would never, ever, use Blue Ribbon plumbing for anything,,, ever. I called to get a estimate on sink installations, and first they sent a young man who appeared to not really know much, or offer any recommendations as to placement, etc... So then the office called and said they were going to send a manager to look at the job site. So a man and woman came. The man was very rude, asking me if I knew I needed a permit, and permission from town,, which I of coarse already knew.. Then he told me it would cost upwards of $15,000 to do the job and asked if I was prepared to spend that much, which I am not, seeing other quotes I've gotten have been much, much, lower.. Then told me that he was the best plumber in the area.. .... I don't think so.... At that point, when he realized I wasn't interested he abruptly left... I was offended by his tone and attitude. It was not necessary to behave like that to a potential customer.. I would never, ever, use them.. Ever.
We engaged Blue Ribbon to remodel our bathroom. The work appeared fine, but water stains appeared on our kitchen ceiling below, shortly after the work was completed. They had to send a painter out twice to cover the stain. They installed the wrong toilet paper holder and had to come back to replace it (note, see below). Next, we had water leaking from around the glass door of the shower. The glass door maker/installer came out to fix it but it still leaks, though not as much. We wanted it fixed. There were also expanded gaps in the caulking in the shower and tub. The hardware stained easily, though it was supposed to be stainless. The owner came out to fix the caulk and help us with the a few issues including hardware, faucets, etc., and said that the water leak could not be fixed. We would have to live with it. Accordingly, we did not pay the holdback of $500 since we were not satisfied.
The toilet paper holder has now pulled away from the wall. When we called them to have it fixed, they said they would be out on a specific day, even giving us the name of the individual who would complete the repair. He never showed and we never received a call. When we called, they told us that because we hadn't paid the holdback, they wouldn't do the work.
Additionally, during the construction work, they needed to relocate an attic drop down ladder when they completed a closet that was relocated due to the expanded bathroom. Recently, one of the structural braces for the ladder has torn away from its mounting, leaving the hatch hanging perilously.
We would not recommend them to anyone.
