My wife and I had a new heat pump installed last month and the experience was less than perfect. The price was just OK. There were equipment delays from the manufacture (Trane) due to Covid 19. In total we waited almost a month for our installation. During this time the Blue Mountain office staff kept us up to date on our equipment status and gave us the option to move our installation up if we would switch from Trane to different heat pump manufacturer. While we waited the Blue Mountain team kept our existing system limping along until the installation could be scheduled. When the installation finally began there was an additional delay due to a manufacture problem with the equipment. Blue Mountain fixed the problem but I was disappointed my new heat pump needed service before the installation even was completed. If I had to do over again, I would not have waited for Trane.

The installation crew worked efficiently, kept their work area clean, was careful in my house and did an excellent job explaining how to operate the thermostat. The 3 man installation crew included a very young apprentice which was concerning but he was well supervised and I'm happy to see a young man getting properly trained in the trades. Even with the delays and equipment problem, I am very happy with my new heat pump and would recommend Blue Mountain for this kind of work. I have already seen a reduction in my electric usage and expect to save about $30 for the first month.

Very pleased with Blue Mountain's air conditioning service. Our air conditioner went out sometime on Friday. The office was able to get us scheduled this morning and they fixed the problem was same day. The service men were neat and good at communicating the problem and our options. I asked for a discount and was told there were coupons available on-line. Saved $20. We were offered a maintenance agreement which would have saved us more on the repair after we paid for the agreement. We passed on the agreement.

This company is BAD NEWS. They charged me $89 just to give me a quote on a VERY small job...soldering two simple pipe fittings. Because these two fittings happened to be on a water heater, the only quote they would give me, and the flat fee they insisted they had to charge was the same price as they would have charged replace the whole water heater.... one size fits all pricing. The problem with that is that I had already removed the old water heater, bought and installed the new one, and had the electrical connection ready to reattach. I did not even want them to remove the old water heater. I just needed the two pipes soldered into the fittings. The price they quoted was $435 to solder two pipe joints, the same price they would charge if I had not done any of the work myself. I consider this way of doing business to be a SCAM! They charge a reasonable fee to come give a quote...a fee that would be applied to the total cost if you hire them....but then they give such an outrageously high quote that nobody in their right mind would hire them. For being on my property less than five minutes, they got $89 of my money and moved on to the next sucker. I would give zero stars if that was an option!

Stay away from this company. They are extremely overpriced. I had a bad fan blower on my furnace. When they finished I found the motor they had put in only cost $208. They charged me $821 for the repair. It took the tech just one hour to install it. They said it was just a ""flat rate"" for the repair. I wish I could make $600 an hour. Pretty good living. Stay away!!!

I went with these guys to handle a plumbing emergency on a Saturday, feeling it was nice that they put their dispatch fee (about $70) toward the service if you go with them. What I didn't suspect was that the service costs would be SO unreasonably high. We had a leaky bathtub faucet that had gotten so out of hand that even if you turned the hot water knob all the way off, the faucet would still run. We had to shut the water off completely or else it would run nonstop. The faucet needed to be replaced, and the 3 separate knobs that our tub uses vs. the single dial knob (more modern) was a part that needed to be ordered. Going with what we had was recommended, because to install a single dial knob in place of the separate 3 knobs for hot water, cold water, and a central one that changes from bath to showerhead would mean they'd have to knock out some of our tile and we'd need a separate contractor who works with tile to replace that.

The plumber tells me he could put the call in to order the part first thing on Monday and that their supplier works very efficiently and they should get the part in by Tuesday or Wednesday at the very latest and he'd have the secretary clear up his schedule to come in first thing Wednesday assuming there's not even an opening for him to get the work done Tuesday afternoon. Over Monday night it snows, nothing major, most businesses ran on time, but this Staunton office branch of Blue Mountain Plumbing CLOSES ALL DAY for the kind of snow that melts over the morning as it warmed up over the entire day. So no one's in the office to receive the ordered part until Wednesday. They're leaving the customer waiting two extra days in my case because the secretary does NOT clear the plumber's schedule to get to me until THURSDAY. Bad service there.

The Homewyse service cost to replace a bathtub faucet calculator in my area ranges from a low end of $515 to a high end of $782. Blue Mountain Plumbing charges me a little over a THOUSAND dollars for this job, and takes their sweet time getting it done. The only reason I don't give them 1 star is because once they finally did get the work done, it was done well and solved our problems. Just don't be surprised if the service is a tad bit lazy and way overpriced. You have been warned.

Although I've never posted a negative review, our interactions with Blue Mountain Plumbing, Heating, Cooling - Staunton have sadly given us reason to do so. Early in December, we had a tech come out to evaluate two always-cold rooms in our home; he seemed both courteous and thorough, and said our best solution was to go with base-board electric heating. This could be installed, he said, for about $600 in each room, or BMtn. could order a brand new product they'd made use of just once, a set-it-down-and-plug-it-in model that might be perfect for us. Curious, we asked where it would come from; he said he did not even know who the supplier was or when it might arrive - hopefully within 2 weeks. We agreed (with some naive trust, I guess) to pay $294 for this less costly alternative.
After 2 weeks, another tech delivered the unit - a cheaply-made baseboard heater which, as we discovered moments later, Home Depot sells for $76 and others ship to the consumer for $66 total. The install was, of course, to set the unit down and plug it into the wall - about 1 minute.
My wife and I talked it over and decided we really needed to give BRPH&A a call to make it right - that certainly they deserved to make a reasonable profit for ordering and delivering our product, but another $255 above the initial $69 service-consult seemed pretty steep. When we called, Shannon, who told me she is the service manager, said she ""could see where we were coming from,"" but needed to verify what I described with her service tech. After the holiday, about a week later, she called me to say that they could not adjust their price - that they would keep the full $294 for our $66 heater. She declined to tell me who owns the franchise, and that she couldn't promise they'd call me, either. At no time did I lose my temper or raise my voice, but when I told Shannon I would be sharing with my employer their decision and posting feedback as to our disappointing experience, she replied sharply that this was ""blackmail."" When I tried, calmly, to say that customers post positive or negative feedback not as blackmail, but as consumer data, she said curtly ""I don't have time for this!"" and hung up without another word. My children saw my face, which must have seemed comically surprised, and said ""Dad, did she hang up on you?"" (They did kind of enjoy that part, since it's never happened before.)
I will leave others to discern if the amount charged was a fair rate for services rendered - but I did find Shannon's behavior unprofessional and off-putting, to say the least. I do really wonder about the culture of a franchise that would behave this way. I also recommend Home Depot for plug-in baseboard heaters! Live and learn. - Dave R.

This company was great about coming out to see me when my AC quit working in the middle of a heat wave. However, when they gave me a quote for a new system to replace my dying one, they didn't explain the systems to me, and the quotes were completely outrageous. I asked around and ended up going with another company who installed the exact same system for less than half the cost of what Blue Mountain quoted. Price isn't everything, but when comparing apples to apples, I'm glad to not have gotten completely ripped off.
