I am writing a review in support of the work that Blue Diamond Plumbing has done for us over the past 15 years. We are a GC who has used them repeatedly over the years, and was notified by one of our clients of their lackluster Yelp reviews.
We have used Blue Diamond on a variety of jobs - both extremely complicated and very simple - and their work has been nothing but top notch. Though I understand why some homeowners may not appreciate some of the nuances and complexities of their home's unseen plumbing elements, we as General Contractor's do, and Blue Diamond has been meticulous, conscientious, reliable and fair in their work with us.
I know that a lot of people use Yelp to do their complaining, and I wanted to make sure that our experience with Blue Diamond Plumbing was also reported. I also realize that the experience from a GC's perspective may be different from that of a homeowner, but I also felt like a we have had multiple experiences with this plumber's work, and thought it was important to share that.

Where do I start. . . .
We hired Blue Diamond Chip through a GC to re-plumb for a remodel. Let's just say that he couldn't figure out how to get the pipes IN THE WALL. He plumbed our shower and our bathroom venting so that, when finished, we would have had giant pop-outs into our master bathroom to, get this, accommodate the pipes. I always thought that pipes were supposed to go into the wall so I asked him about it repeatedly. We were assured by Chip--rather abrasively and arrogantly--again and again that it was ""impossible"" to put them anywhere else. Well, certainly impossible for Blue Diamond Chip but not for the subsequent plumbing company we hired. They were literally laughing at his work and rolling their eyes. It was embarrassing for Chip. Then they went over everything else he ever did at our house and . . . .guess what? That's right, it was ALL pretty much done incorrectly as well. In fact, our instant hot water heater for our entire house was not installed per the manufacturer's specification--which took deliberate effort. It required a different size input pipe and Chip intentionally rigged up some connectors so that he didn't have to do it correctly.
All I can say is cha-ching! I was unfortunate enough to pay him for the work and then have to pay again for another firm to demo his work and re-do it. This was an expensive mistake.

What a nightmare.
1. Decided at the 11th hour that he was ""too busy"" to come back and finish the plumbing work. I had to go find another plumber able to come within two weeks so we could have indoor plumbing before we moved in.
2. Overcharged on progress payments. All quotes to finish the work were substantially higher than the amount we still owed him to finish his contract.
3. If you are working with a GC, and you are the homeowner, Chip will not talk to you. At all. You must always, always go through your contractor. Personally, we found that this was an excellent way to not get what we wanted. The subs we liked the best were the ones who said, ""This is your house, and I want to make sure this gets done the way YOU want it to be."" We would then meet with the sub and the contractor together. The one meeting we did have with the plumbing specialist Chip referred us to--Chip no showed. Actually, he never even acknowledged the invitation, so maybe that just makes him unprofessional.
4. We wanted to have Chip do some work to tie garage plumbing into the house plumbing. This was outside the scope of our GC, but the plumbing needed to be included during the rough plumbing phase. Multiple phone calls and emails went unanswered. When I happened to run into him at plumbing supply store and asked about getting the work done, he said it should have been done during rough! He also said it would be cheaper to just trench 100 ft down the driveway, which might be true, but is beside the point.
4. He ran his vent pipes straight up the wall behind the bathroom sinks, making it difficult and, in places, impossible to have a medicine cabinet above the sink. Why? In places where there had been medicine cabinets, he cut new holes rather than using existing holes and ran the vent pipes right through the existing medicine cabinet framing.
5. His installation of our bathtub was ridiculously bad. It was so far off the floor that our tile slipped right under. My husband, our GC, Chip's plumbing specialist who sold us the tub all met to problem solve, and again, guess who didn't come? Chip maintained the problem was the floor was uneven--except the tub was no closer to the floor than 3/8"" in any spot. Also, the level showed the floor was about as close to level as you could expect. My husband spent hours trying to fix the installation job. The resulting fix included the tile contractor having to remove the floor that was in there and float a new one.
The few times I happened to run into Chip he presented as very friendly and competent. But over the course of working on our remodel/addition Blue Diamond became our least favorite subcontractor out of 15+.

I love the work Blue Diamond Plumbing did on my bathroom remodel. I thought the owner was very professional and knowledgeable and provided some great insight to help us to attain our dream bathroom. I haven't experienced any issues due to any kind of ""negligence"" but actually quite the opposite! I would recommend Blue Diamond to anyone!

I'm very disappointed in Chip at Blue Diamond. A year after the plumbing was done on my remodel, crawling under the house it was discovered that the shower drain was not connected(!) and all the water was going directly under the house every time a shower was taken. Pools of water formed with every shower and white powder buildups were on my foundation and under the house. For the safety of my family I needed an inspector to come out and look it over for any mold, but Chip refused to pay for this even though it was caused by his negligence. You hire a contractor to do the job right and if there are problems you make it right. It seems there is a pattern of not doing this at Blue Diamond, and I would caution anyone who is thinking of hiring them.
