Rik and his team renovated our master bathroom. The work was beautiful. Everything was completed on time and on budget. Rik communicated every step of the way to make sure we understood everything and were happy with the work. He provided suggestions when we were unsure of what we wanted which was very helpful. I would definitely call Blue Contracting again for my next project.

No show! We received no specific arrangements from Rik. He gave generalities and no indications that assured us Blue contract would show. Bad communication!!

Rik and his team just finished gutting and redoing our master bathroom. Normally with contractors we've always had a problem with lack of communication. Not the case with Rik. He was clear up front with his service and affordable pricing and answered any questions we had along the way (and we had a ton). The bathroom turned out exactly as we wanted. Highly recommend Rik's team for affordable contract work and high quality results.

I highly recommend Blue Contracting for any project you may have, big or small.
Rik and his team had remodeled my current house prior to my purchasing it, taking three small rooms on the first floor and making it an open concept layout. The kitchen had beautiful appliances, with laminate flooring in the kitchen/dining room and wall-to-wall carpeting in the living room. The three bedrooms had been freshly painted. Both bathrooms (full bath on the second floor and a half-bath on the first floor) had been updated. The basement had been carpeted, and there is a separate utility room for washer and dryer, and boiler and water heater.
I've had Rik do a couple of small projects. He is prompt, courteous, and the jobs were done in a timely manner. The prices were reasonable.
I'm looking forward to working with Rik and Blue Contracting in the future.

We worked with Rik and his team for almost the last 3 months on a home that we were preparing to sell. We couldn't be happier. We started out with just a hardwood floor refinishing job but, once we saw the quality of the work and realized that Rik offered other services, we asked him to give us a quote to expand our contract.

Rik ended up coordinating all work at our house over the 3 months. He helped us with significant plumbing work (repairs and wall demo of a concrete wall), installation of an upstairs sliding glass door, installation of plank flooring in the basement, window framing and installation, new custom window well covers, electrical rewiring, painting projects, carpentry projects, replacing lighting fixtures, toilets, faucets, shower heads, etc. There is nothing his team can't do.

The work was quality. Rik was flexible and patient with our ever changing punch list of projects. He demonstrated to us over and over that he was honest and fair -- he was genuinely interested in making sure our decisions were cost effective and made sense given that we were selling the house. He communicated with us even when he was on vacation and juggled jobs so he could get our stuff wrapped up in time for the house to go on the market.

We coordinated all of this work from 3,000 miles away. We never even got to meet Rik personally but I can't tell you how much it meant to have someone we trusted on site when we couldn't be there. We'd give him more than 5 stars if we could.

Our new refinished hardwood floors look amazing. Rik's crew did a beautiful job or restoring our floors for a very reasonable price. We've expanded the scope of our renovations to a number of other areas of the house and, we were so happy with Rik that we've engaged him to do all of that additional work - carpentry, window and door replacement, plumbing updating, some painting. Highly recommend.

Rik was hired to do a plumbing job for us. He admitted to it being to big for him to do so he brought in another contractor. Rik the owner Blue Contracting was in charge of the excavation and backfill of the trench needed to repair the plumbing. Let me also say, that my husband had been previously employed in this same type of work on a larger level. He could've done the job himself had we the equipment. So he asked the right questions of Rik. Rik assured us that when they were done the job would be ready for a paving company to come in and pave. Rik never showed up for the job. But he had an excavator there. The crew hired to do the plumbing knew the excavator. The guy in charge of the other crew did keep questioning the excavator and the fact that he was not doing certain steps for a proper excavation. He therefore compromised our driveway leaving us with cracks across the whole thing. we should have been able to adjust patch the trench. He left us with a 2 foot high pile of dirt and broken asphalt on our driveway. Now we need to hire someone to pull the asphalt out of the trench and fill it with the proper backfill of of stone! Rik refuses to return our calls, or complete the job, or refund us the money that he was paid.

Rik and Mike remodeled my tiny bathroom in South Philly. From a previous remodel, I had a leaky shower stall that that was tiled and grouted poorly, and they were careful to demo the problematic walls and floor, while salvaging tile on opposing walls, storage cabinets and cubbies, and a medicine cabinet that I wanted to keep.

When the floor came up, we discovered a rotted subfloor, compromised joists and some water damage. This was not something we had budgeted for in the initial estimate, but Rik recognized that the new priority was structural integrity and was reasonable about additional costs for sistering compromised joists, moving water lines, and giving me a new subfloor.

When there were new issues or detours they had to take (the bathroom is in a 100 year old building), Rik ran all changes by me and let me know what options (and their respective costs) we had. At one point, he even brought in a structural guy to double check the direction he recommended we take on those compromised joists.

Post demo and remediation, they installed everything I had bought for the project - the new toilet, the new shower stall, new shower walls, new vanity, new fixtures and new tiling on the floor. That part of the project took the amount of time Rik had estimated, and the only time-related hiccups were caused by the rotting subfloor and joist sistering, which were not foreseen.

Rik understood that my number one priority was making sure that the shower was watertight, and he pointed out different steps during the way that we accomplished that goal. I'll update this review periodically to let you know how watertight it remains.

Finally, there was the issue of construction debris. Rik and Mike did this work in late July and early August of 2020, when the city's sanitation department was racked with COVID-19 and some trash pickup did not occur on schedule. While they put debris in large white bags labeled ""contractor bags"" and expected the city to haul them off. However, once city services resumed, the sanitation department (for 2 consecutive weeks) would take all trash EXCEPT the contractor bags and the old toilet Rik and Mike had placed at the curb.

When I notified them of this, Rik did the right thing. Even though our financial dealings with one another were in the rear view mirror and the new bathroom had been completed for nearly 2 weeks, he swooped by 48 hours later to pick up the debris and properly dispose of it.

In all, I was very pleased with Rik and Mike's work, and I would hire them again.
