Having been a part of a family run business for 49 years, I feel like I have a fairly good understanding of what a well run business looks like. From start to finish Black Rock was first class. The owner, Corey, always responded to phone calls and was fair in his pricing. They seem to have a well oiled company with Drew scheduling and Brett coming promptly for an examination of our problem. The work crew led by Jeremy did everything better than what I could've hope and I'm a perfectionist. Our job was small comparatively to their normal jobs but they performed professionally. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend Black Rock.

I recently had a complete sewer line installed at my
home. Black Rock had been highly recommended by
top producing realtor friends in Portland. Their bid was
concise, the work was performed on schedule and
responses to questions were immediate

Installation was on an extremely rainy day with it being
necessary to bring a backhoe across a very soggy lawn.
They properly protected the lawn and cleaned the entire
area, including the street, at completion.

My standards are very high and they met, or exceeded, all!

We had to abandon our septic tank and hook up to a sewer (thank you, Clean Water Services for refusing to issue a permit that would have allowed us to repair the septic for a fraction of the costs we paid to THEM in ""fees."")
So, after determining we had no other options, we looked for the best excavating service experienced at doing this. First off, Black Rock Underground came highly recommended, both informally by someone at the County as well as by our former septic service who had done a stellar job. We got competing bids - all in the same ballpark. But Drew and Black Rock were by far the most professional and easy to deal with from the getgo. And this turned out to be one of those situations where first impressions were ongoingly verified. They did just what they said they'd do, were always on time, communicated continuous updates, were friendly - and left our grounds in significantly better condition than I expected (including the nice touch of reseeding grass where they had dug.)
Can't recommend Black Rock Underground highly enough - for their professionalism, friendliness, work product, care for our grounds and more.

Wow - Cory and his crew are fantastic. We found ourselves in a very difficult situation, everything for our job was complicated. We sold our house, found we had a failing septic tank which we could not repair or replace - we had to connect to sewer, but there was no sewer line on our street. We found Black Rock Underground, thankfully! Not only was there no sewer, but our street sits on a hill and the house is below the street. They worked with the county to develop the plan, and work got started. Because of where the house sits, they needed to dig deep to allow gravity to work - and ran into lots and lots of rock, including under the driveway. They were prepared for that and knew what to do.
Everytime I went to look at the project, they were happy to answer my questions, the neighbors were impressed with their work ethic and for such a messy job, it was always tidy and under control. The work was complete, the concrete repaired, the tank decommissioned and it all looks great and functions beautifully!

When we bought our house the inspector told us we had some issues with our sewer line. We called around to get a few quotes, and not only was Black Rock Underground the only one who got back to us, but they did so quickly and had someone out to look at our sewer line fairly quickly too.

The estimate was very reasonable, and they identified that some holes in our yard were likely coming from rats digging their way up from a hole in our sewer line. Black Rock told us they could replace our sewer line using a pipe bursting technique.

The actual replacement took about a day and a half. After they were done, they filled back in the parts of our yard they had to dig into, and reseeded our grass. They also added mulch back to our median where they also had to dig.

Our bid included tearing up and replacing our sidewalk, which they ended up not having to do. I was afraid I was going to have to ask for an adjustment after they were done, but they took it off and lowered the final invoice without me having to ask!

So impressed. They showed up early, with masks, and explored the areas we wanted, our downspouts and underground drain to our rain drain. They found what was clogging our downspouts and dug out the debris. They showed us how the system works and what might eventually be wrong and explained what might be needed in the future. And they did not charge us anything for the evaluation and their time. When we need anything ever again for our underground systems, we will definitely call them.

Honestly pays. Plumbing company told me I needed to replace sewer pipe and gave me a $17k estimate. Britt scoped the pipes to give me another bid, except he couldn't give me a bid because my pipes are fine. He didn't even charge me since he couldn't bid the project.

Corey and Drew at Blackrock Underground are an exceptional contractor team to work with through and through. As a real estate agent they have come through for my clients and I on numerous occasions. They are patient, thorough, flexible and will see the job through to the end with high quality. Their pricing is competitive and the service + quality is top notch. One of the recent jobs they did for us was a major septic to sewer conversion in Washington County. When I need landscape excavation services they are always my first call.

These guys are professional, reliable, and have fair pricing. I got a total of five estimates to decommission my cesspool and hook-up to the city sewer. Black Rock had the cheapest estimate and also Drew who came out to do the estimate was honest about the job and stayed to answer all of my questions. Other companies that came to do estimates, left as soon as they could. My job was urgent so they were flexible with the schedule and got it done ASAP. The crew that came out was professional and Cory always answered all of my questions promptly. I would definitely recommend this company. I am very satisfied with their work.
