On June 1, 1999, Rick Sperando and Scott Underwood launched Black Diamond Plumbing & Mechanical, Inc. Through perseverance, dedication, and a focus on our customers' needs, the company expanded rapidly. In 2006, the addition of the Electrical Division sparked another wave of expansion. Most recently, in 2009, we created the Heating & Air Conditioning Division, and the future appears bright. Rick and Scott attribute their success to three simple principles:

I had a appt set up today to get my furnace cleaned. I set this up weeks ago. Well today came and nobody showed up. No call.....no show.
There were a lot of other things I could have been doing several other things.
Rod P.Flooded two buildings because they didn't know how to connect compression fittings correctly correctly. Tried to blame it on the homeowner. Their insurance covered it thankfully but what a mess. Very unqualified people doing their.work. Too many good contractors in Rockford to use these jokers....
I called them this AM the receptionist wonderful. Aaron came out early , was so friendly, knowledgable and efficient. I get nervous sometimes being a woman that sometimes places may try to overcharge but they were honest , reliable and definitely not one of those places. Definitely have a return customer with me and will recommend !!! And the prices were great, very fair! !!! Could not be happier or more impressed - have a life long customer!
Curtis B.Black diamond has been out to my house to work on electrical a few times. Each time the technicians have been thorough, helpful, supportive and amongst the friendliest support technicians I've ever been around. They explain what they're doing, teach you some basics, make sure you understand what's changed, etc. On top of this, their prices are extremely good and the management team knows what it means to make a customer feel appreciated. I recommend black diamond to everyone.
They managed to have my Google review removed even though it complied with all of the criteria. This is how shady this company is. Had called them for a AC unit repair on a Sunday, they did arrive promptly. That's where anything good about them ends. The tech was too concerned with selling $500 preventive maintenance packages than fixing our unit. Long story short, cost a grand to have it running for 6 days. Wasn't about to contact them for another price gouging service call when it stopped working again. Called in another company, and that's when I found out how bad they really were. Black Diamond charged double what the next company charged, and the new company fixed it right the first time. The tech from the new company we had come out even confirmed they lied about the amount of refridgerant that was needed. The best, they charged over two hundred dollars for a ten dollar part that took two minutes to replace. Borderline criminal. Horrible business practices. I would never trust their techs to do any work in our home again. Use at your own risk, you have been warned!
Chris E.Employees were professionals in their interactions today. The plumbing fixed the main issue the water heater. The electrition handled 2 outlets, a issue with the dimmer switch in living room and replaced a gfi outlet in kitchen.

Person who answered the call first said it would be three days and she
stated that if it were under warranty
it could be caused by abuse. We have
Never had a renter abuse anything
and I was offended by what she said.
If we can't get it taken care of I will call another company and rethink if we
are going to stay with Black Diamond.
It offends me when a person who answered the phone first brings up
Abuse. Take a look at how long we

We had an emergency and ComEd had to turn off our power until we could get our lines fixed. We called a LOT of electricians and nobody could be out there for weeks. Jared came out in 2 days. Him and Roman were there well into the night to be sure we got our electricity back on. They were great guys and did a wonderful job! I was so thankful they got it all done so quickly!
We had Black Diamond come give us a quote for a job. They tried to tell us that we had to do a bunch more (unnecessary) work. I would never recommend them to anyone.
We had another plumber come in and do the main job we called them for and we were told that the other work they suggested was unnecessary.
Called about a drip near our main city water first shut off valve. BD worked with our village to shut off the water and re-sweated in a new valve, though the leak was at the first 90. BD asked if we wanted to replace another 2 feet of copper piping after the valve which included another valve. That way the whole inlet before the village water meter and after was new. We agreed. Literally, the TOTAL time for this repair was 1 hour. We get charged $850. 1 hour of labor, plus at most 4 feet of copper pipe and two valves. This was NOT an emergency call. These guys will NEVER get my business again. Their invoice shows ""standard charge"" for main shut off valves before and after the meter. Are you kidding me? Time and materials is nothing compared to this outrageous bill. What was the per hour charge, $700? Advice, it'd be good to notify your customers of the estimate of the price before you start work.
