We called to have a leaking toilet fixed. Our home has CPVC pipes and it's over 20 years old. The plumber from Rhiners let alone any plumber worth anything should have known these pipes can get brittle and we've been told by a couple other plumbers that they just don't break on their own with a little bit of pressure. Apparently the plumber from Rhiners cranked on it to tighten it and it broke. We had water running everywhere. This was on a Wednesday...they didn't come back until Thursday into the following week so we were down a bathroom and shower during that time. My husband paid for the services on that Wednesday. About $130. Keep in mind that they broke the pipe... when they fixed it the next week they charged us $630 plus we have holes in our walls that need patching that again...had they not busted our pipe in the first place none of this extra cost would have been an issue. My husband emailed them and pleaded our case that this wasn't our doing...they refused to budge on the cost of the 2nd visit and told him they didn't charge us for labor for the first visit... WHAT??? If they hadn't broke the pipe on the first visit we would have never had a 2nd visit. This is totally ridiculous and no way to work with a customer!
Needless to say...we don't have a nice review for Rhiners Plumbing in Clive!

I have used them twice for two unrelated issues. They did a great job both times. Came in as scheduled the first time and called ahead the second to see if they could come early. Offered an option to save me money. I was on the path to spend $600-$700 to fix a sink issue and they recommended a $150 solution. They made less $, I saved some. Very professional team there, wouldn't go to anyone else.

Last Spring I had Holt Plumbing out to do some work, and they identified that I needed an angle meter valve replaced in the basement. This is located where the city water supply enters the home, so to do the work they had to turn off the water line at the stop box out underground at the curb. Holt doesn't usually do outside plumbing and they were unable to close the curb valve. I contacted Schleivert Plumbing in Urbandale that does outside plumbing to see if they could shut it or give me an estimate if it had to be replaced. They left a bid of almost $2,000 to do the work. I wasn't able to pay that much at the time, but this week I contacted Bill Rhiner's to see if I could get a more reasonable estimate. The crew came out and within a couple of minutes they were able to access and turn the valve with no trouble. I asked what I owed them and they said their office would send a bill. An hour later their office called and told me there would be no charge. I was shocked but delighted to hear that, especially after reading some of the older reviews for Rhiner's that complained about excessive billing. Whatever might have been their previous practices, I am pleased to recommend and give this company a five-star review! Rick H., West Des Moines, Iowa

I called approximately eight months ago after hours to have an appointment set up as soon as possible. No one ever called back ever. I called a competitor the next day mid afternoon and they responded quickly.

I call again recently during work hours for a clogged kitchen sink. Made a same day appointment. No plumber called nor responded to my house for the schedule time of 1-4 PM. I called Rhiner's and was told the plumber was stuck on another job. I asked why did I have to call you to find out this information. Their answer was first come first served. However, I called at 8:30 AM to set up the original appointment. I was told the plumber was going to respond ""first thing in the morning"" and I will get a call prior to responding. Well, no call and no plumber ever responded.

If you believe in the three strike rule, well Rhiners doesn't return calls, doesn't notify you if they get too busy, and most importantly they don't show to complete the work.

Wish there was a lower rating than one star for this company. Pathetic

On 4/02/2019 I had a plumber come to my house for a backflow inspection from Bill Rhiners plumbing. He was here less then 10 minutes and misread the serial number on the unit so it was incorrectly reported to the city,etc. He charged me $200. Thinking this was high I had Dsm property services come over 5/12/2020. Their tech was here for 40 minutes and explained in detail the inspection he had done. He charged me $75. It appears Bill Rhiner plumbing gouges return customers and this time didn't even do the work right. I am through with them, their outrageous rates, and poor work. If you have a sprinkler system or need plumbing work done Avoid Bill Rhiner plumbing.

Nate Beenken came over this morning and rebuild one of my sink faucets, He was on time and did a great job for a reasonable cost. The faucet now works like new. Thanks for sending him.

Adel plumbing on Yelp is actually Bill Rhiner's Plumbing, Heating & Cooling out of Clive. They will charge you a hour of plumbing to drive out to Adel or past Adel. The kid who did our plumbing was RUDE, kept his company van stereo blazing the whole time he was in my house which caused my dog to have a fit. Kid didn't put on the toliet back on correctly which caused air to get in the line. And now we have to get some new wax seals and do it ourselves. He didn't do the right bathroom so we still have a clog in the line.

I have used Rhiner's many times over the years. Greg has done an excellent job for water heater and AC problems. Someone else came for a plumbing problem and was not nearly as impressive. He eventually fixed the problem, which was a leaking toilet, but cut a hole in the drywall before he stumbled onto the problem. Rhiner's is probably not the cheapest HVAC service, but I do trust Greg.

I never write reviews, but this is ridiculous and hopefully I can save someone else $$$. We were billed over $1000 to replace kitchen faucet in my rental house in Norwalk! Cheap faucet, materials only $150, rest was labor. Negotiated bill down to $760 - paid it so they wouldn't put a lien on my house. Will never use again. They are crooks. DO NOT USE RHINER'S!!!

The kichen faucet was leaking as soon as they guy left. I did not noticed it, when he was still in the house. Called them right away to fix it. He spent 30-40 min working on it, I was charged for 1 hour of work. I told them he still has 30-20 min to fix it. They said they do not give warranty, if parts are mine. I did not pay him to be in my house for 40 min. I PAID FOR HAVING THE JOB DONE.
