Last week one of Bill Metzger's plumbers told me that to replace my kitchen faucet the charge would be $400. And to replace the valves under the sink, if needed, would be an additional $250. ( My guess is the valves would have ""needed"" be replaced.) He then looked through the box with the new faucet and said there was a piece missing.

Six hundred dollars to change out a kitchen faucet is ludicrous. So ludicrous that I had this sneaking suspicion that he was not telling me the truth about the missing piece. So I took the new faucet back to Lowe's and asked to speak to a plumber. The plumber said there was no piece missing and that their charge would be between $150 and $200 to change out the faucet and $120 to replace the valves.

It's incredible to me that that plumber stood in my kitchen and bold faced lied to me. Even more incredible, however, was the attempted price gouging.

After my terrible experience with this company, I simply had to share it with prospective customers.

First, they sent a plumber out to handle some work for me. He was able to do a portion of it, but forgot some of the equipment so he couldn't complete the task.

He told me to call the office and set up another time to come out and finish the work, so I called and spoke to the woman who normally answers the phone there and set the appointment.

The day of the appointment, I waited and waited and waited. As my appointment window was coming to a close, I called to see if the plumber was running late. The same woman proceeded to tell me that no plumber was coming out and that she had called me a few times to warn me. The thing with technology is if I miss a call on my phone, it shows that someone tried to call and the number is revealed. She never attempted to call me. Instead she kept rambling on about how you can't trust technology, the message must have dropped from my phone, they are really busy, some of their guys are injured, etc.

So, I called back and rescheduled for the following week. The day of the appointment, I called ahead to be sure that the plumber was coming. Guess what? She claimed she had nothing on the schedule. She then proceeded to ramble on again about how my house was far from their office, their guys are injured, etc., etc., etc. At this point, you could imagine how upset I was. Most of us have busy schedules, which is why we make appointments.

Bill Metzger called me to apologize later that day and, to his credit, he is a very pleasant person. That said, as soon as he was done apologizing, he too went on rambling about a number of irrelevant issues that had nothing to do with MY APPOINTMENT. I don't care if you've had a busy summer. I don't care if you are down a guy or two. He even started telling me that he had to drive far to pick up his wife's prescription. What in the world does that have to do with my plumbing appointment - the second consecutive one that they failed to show up at? We all have to deal with adversity in our personal and professional lives.

The combination of incompetence and excuse making during this experience was unreal. How companies like this remain in business I will never know.

I called Bill Metzger Plumbing in need of an instant hot water heater and filtration system for condo in Dana Point.

The plumber who came to my house was named Tony.
The response time was excellent. Tony was very friendly as well as his office assistant Mona.
The job was done well and I'm very happy with my new Noritz instant hot water heater.

It's always nice to have a plumber show up on time and complete the job with a satisfied customer. I will use them again for future needs.

Just getting around to posting because I found the bill. I felt the plumber sent to my house was below average. I had a leek this spring at the value where you place the gas key for my fire pace. Guy came out and could not fix it. Said there was not enough room and other plumbing was in the way to replace the value. He was correct about the challenge and wrong that it could not be fixed. It just required a left/right compiling to solve the problem and by putting the value in a new location since I had opened up the wall.

He got a coupling and the pipes being joined were at an angle so they would not thread. All that was needed was a shorter connection pipe from the elbow. He said that was the smallest. I did not believe that for a minute, you can get any size. He gave up at that point. He left, charged me $350 and did not fix the problem. He told me I would have to remove the fireplace and replace the entire pipe run. That would have been thousands of dollars when you include retiling and construction. That was ludicrous.

So I took the pipes off, measured and photographed the situation and went to a good plumbing store. Together with the counter assistant we created a solution with the correct dimensions in about 10 minutes. I came back and installed successfully with no leaks. Patched up the wall and all was good. I have no plumbing experience other than basic home repairs. I simply thought about the solution and took the pipes to someone who knows all the pipes available to solve the problem. He was no plumber either. Would never us Bill Metzger Plumbing again. What a rip off.

My 3rd time using Bill Metzger Plumbing for leaks. Toby the technician arrived as promised and patiently seek out the problems and have to end in the attic in 130 degree temperature to make the repair. Toby always addressed me in courteous and professional way. Thank you. Will use you guys again for sure.

I called them to unclog an outside drain. The technician, Joe, arrived and immediately started telling me what a huge job this may be. He then went on to say that the plastic drain cap may even be a larger problem as it may snap when he tries to remove it.

I went into the garage and used my brother's needle nose pliers and pulled the cap off the drain as Joe was lugging a HUGE tool bag from his truck. Then Joe once again started telling me this drain clog job could end up being a huge job. Now the guy is getting me nervous. He finally got his snake out of the truck and started snaking the drain. He pulled out a approximate 12 foot root out of the drain in a few minutes, and then asked me to turn on the hose in the back yard so the water would start from the back. I literally ran to the back as, according to Joe, this could be a huge job.

Joe then watched the water run through the drain and announced he had fixed the drain clog. Now he began telling me how lucky I was as this could have been a huge clog. So he finished and prepared the bill...39.00 for the service call and 195. to snake the drain. He was finished and paid in 40 minutes. So 235. to snake a drain. Then to add insult to injury he sat in his truck for 20 minutes after he finished.

I wish I had gone to Home Depot and just rented a snake to do the job myself! I felt totally ripped--off by this guy!

Bill Metzger told us to ""Do it your F***King self"" after calling to ask about an issue they told us they couldn't fix while they were at my home. Absoutely amazed how this business is still surviving. With such polarizing reviews all over the internet, you can see that there is no consistency... We have used them to replace water heaters twice, paying full retail what they asked, and we are treated like THIS when we call to talk to them? Such an attitude and disregard for customer service. I will never recommend this business to anyone. Hopefully this review sees the light of day and advises folks who care about customer service to STAY AWAY.
