In 1957, I started my plumbing apprenticeship with Ray Gramley at Gramley Plumbing & Heating. Following his retirement, I joined forces with Duane (Jake) Boos to take over, maintaining the Gramley name until 1969 when I launched Bill George Plumbing.
Thus, even though this name has existed for 44 years, I can truthfully state that I have been dedicated to the good folks of northwest Illinois for more than 50 years.
Approaching retirement, my oldest grandson, Kyle Williams, is slowly taking the reins.
He has been by my side during summers and holidays since he was fourteen and graduated with an Accounting degree from North Park in Chicago.
He expressed interest in working with me after graduation ""until he figured out his path,"" and thankfully for me and all my clients, he chose to pursue plumbing and eventually take over the family business.
Born and raised in Freeport, I graduated from FHS in 1957 and began my plumbing apprenticeship with Gramley Plumbing, taking over the business in 1959 when Ray retired and officially renaming it Bill George Plumbing in 1969.
When asked how long I've been in business, I can honestly say it's well over 50 years!
I have been married to my high school sweetheart, Judy Bloyer, for 55 years since 1958. We have two daughters, Heidi (Dave) Williams and Kathy (Scott) King, and four grandsons: Kyle (Amber) and Danny Williams, and Christopher and Matthew King, along with one son, Billy (Catherine), and our great-granddaughter, Finley.
Outside of work, I enjoy time with my black lab, Charlie (and of course, Judy) at our serene lakeside getaway in Wisconsin.
