In 1957, I started my plumbing apprenticeship with Ray Gramley at Gramley Plumbing & Heating. Following his retirement, I joined forces with Duane (Jake) Boos to take over, maintaining the Gramley name until 1969 when I launched Bill George Plumbing.
Therefore, although this name has been around for 44 years, I can sincerely claim that I have been serving the great residents of northwest Illinois for over 50 years.
As I near retirement, my eldest grandson, Kyle Williams, is gradually stepping into my role.
He has been by my side during summers and holidays since he was fourteen and graduated with an Accounting degree from North Park in Chicago.
After graduation, he asked to work with me ""until he decided on his future,"" and fortunately for me and my customers, he opted to become a plumber and eventually lead the family business.
Born and raised in Freeport, I graduated from FHS in 1957 and began my plumbing apprenticeship with Gramley Plumbing, taking over the business in 1959 when Ray retired and officially renaming it Bill George Plumbing in 1969.
When people inquire about my years in business, I can sincerely respond that it's over 50!
Married to my high school sweetheart, Judy Bloyer, for 55 years since 1958, we have two daughters, Heidi (Dave) Williams and Kathy (Scott) King, four grandsons: Kyle (Amber) and Danny Williams, Christopher and Matthew King, one son, Billy (Catherine), and our great-granddaughter, Finley.
When I'm off the clock, I cherish moments with my black lab, Charlie (and Judy, naturally) at our tranquil lakeside haven in Wisconsin.
