Recommended Customer Reviews

We have used Big Sky Plumbing for 20 years for jobs big and small, urgent and not urgent, on a 140 year old victorian - I would guess at least 1-2 dozen times. Our experience with them has been excellent - responsive, timely, professional, and always installed well or fixed to our satisfaction. Today we had a sewer line backing up to both a bathroom and kitchen, all manner of yucky smelly stuff - just as family visitors were to arrive for the Christmas holiday. Even though booked up for the day, they reached out and found a pro to send to us immediately. Correctly diagnosed where the blockage was and had it resolved in less than an hour. He even cleaned up the residual mess afterwards. The bad reviews you see here are not our 20 year experience. Worth every penny and would not hesitate to use them the next time we need a plumber.

I had a very similar experience. A tech came out and spent about ten minutes assessing the backed up sewage in my toilets and tubs. He came out to let me know that the cost would be expensive and suggested that I wait about four days until it would warm up. I had already been hauling hot water into both bathrooms for three days.and that was why I called. He also suggested I use a propane heater. I spoke to my sons and handyman and other friends about this because I felt it sounded dangerous and they vehemently agreed and told me to not even consider this. I continued to haul hot water until I couldn't bear it and I called Roto-Rooter. They couldn't get to me for four days but I agreed to this because I was desperate. I am 74 years old and disabled. A friend told me that she found advice online from a plumber. He recommended using dish soap to the hot water. It worked immediately. It was eight days of hauling buckets of hot water from the kitchen to the bathroom. Someone suggested I use salt in the water and another suggested vinegar with hot water with vinegar and baking soda. No luck. was a total of eight days doing this. The last idea that my friend had worked, just in case you want to try the dish soap and hot water. The methane gas got horrendous. I got a $108 bill (after my 10% senior discount) from Big Sky.

BigSky plumbing and heating is an absolute joke. They will milk you for every last cent they can. Too many bad accounts to list so I will give 2 examples. Had an issue with a sewer backing up. Called BigSky Plumbing. Bagged the line. Issue came right back. Asked them to Rotor root the line. They said it would not help. Issue kept coming back till we hired someone to rotor root the line. No issue since. Another example, we had a property where the sewer backed up. Called BigSky. Guy went to the property and said it was too dirty for him to work in and left, then charges a $100 service fee. Don't use these guys.

They sent a guy who spent a lot of time standing around and on the phone arranging fun as moving for a new car for his wife. To connect the faucet bib to brick he threw some caulk on and the caulk didn't hold. The guy they sent to check called it all good even though it wasn't.

We have always had excellent service from the guys at Big Sky Plumbing. For any drywall needs always ask for Amos Pallister. He did such a fantastic job for us. Super like Amos.

Stay away. Don't trust this company. Garbage work. I paid almost $600 to have a new vanity, sink and faucet installed. The plumber did not check his work after installation and failed to tighten the faucet handles. I had them come back to tighten the handles and they sent me a bill for another $100! I talked to Troy who came up with all sorts of excuses for their faulty workmanship and insisted that I did something to the faucet handles.

Honestly I debated on whether to take the time to write a review. I had them come in and do plumbing into a new bathroom and just tie into the plumbing from our existing. He came an estimated 3100+ roughly for the job. I asked if they would need to go into my daughters room since the new bathroom was above her room. He assured me they more then likely shouldn't have to. My husband works full time tell late hours of the day so I really know nothing about plumbing. I wish I would of had him there cause I feel we were taken for a lot of money.
The people were nice. they did maybe 10 hours total of work. My husband has always done our plumbing but since he works so much we thought we just do it. So when he left the first day (should of all been done) I looked in my daughters room and there were pipes coming out of her ceiling. HUGE hole in the ceiling above her bed. We had taken the sheet rock out of the bathroom for them to make it less expensive. My husband came home horrified. I had to call them to come back and do the vent that was supposed to be done. They had got it all in the attic and cut the pipe. I had to have them come back and finish it. Meanwhile we had sewer smells and all. For the work they did in the time they did it and how it was not worth it. Its something if done ourselves would of cost us 500-600 for the whole thing. So it was super disappointing. They were cheaper then a few people I called. Honestly go find an independent contractor that does it call around. You will be happy you did.
Side not the guys who came to my house were kind. I just think somewhere there was things not communicated from the guy who did the estimate to the guys who did the work. It was way more, too, then we anticipated cost wise.
VERY EXPENSIVE

A few days ago my boiler for heat went out. I called Doug and he came up and sized a new boiler for us. It was about $6000 installed. I told him to go for it. When it came in they had the old out and the new one in one day. When it came time to pay for it ask them if I could pay it in three payments because my SS check would only go so far. The lady told me this is something not usually done but after we talked she said ok. The service I received was the best. Thank you Big Sky Plumbing

Nice but astoundingly expensive. YIKES! We'll shop around next time. Holy Cow.

I hired this company to deal with a septic overflow two weeks after purchasing my home. They sent out a young guy, who told me outright he knew almost nothing about septic systems, then said it was probably clogged and spent over three hours not only getting this auger caught in my system, but did not fix the issue. He called a few days later and said he wanted to check his work, and I hesitantly agreed. I was later charged over 80$ for that, and l would have never agreed to paying someone to come and look at his fake job. Two days later, I called the septic company and they said it was never clogged, just over full and for 180$ they pumped and hauled away the previous owners....well, (*$&. This company not only sent me a bill for 350$, but when I refused to pay them for their shoddy job, sent me to a collection agency. I would not hire them to turn on a hose.
SHAME on you, Big Sky Plumbing.....you stink.
